Function Generators are very useful tool in electronics bench,but it can be quite expensive, but we have manyoptions to build it cheaply. In this project we use ICl8038.

Step 3: Schematic Diagram

Use This schematic diagram to built your circuit. Circuit are divided into three sections.

Power SectionFrequency Generator SectionAmplifier Section

Power Section- In this section we use two Positive Voltage regulator (7805,7812) 5v or 12v positive voltageregulator to stabilize positive voltage. OR We also have use negative side voltage regulator (7905,7912) -5v or -12v Voltage regulator to regulate Negative side Voltage to -5v ,-12v level. We have used a 18-0-18 volt 2amppower transformer follow circuit diagram for more info.

Frequency Generator Section- To generate a stable frequency We have used ICL8038 waveform generator is amonolithic integrated circuit capable of producing high accuracy sine, square, triangular waveform.

Amplifier Section- This section is used to decrease Output impedance or used to Adjust DC Offset , Or OutputAmplitude of Frequency. We have Utilized 2x Lm393 Duel Comparators (Comparators Can Handle Square WaveAt High Frequency With Fast Edge Capability) and One Tl072 Low Noise Op-Amp to Produce Low Noise Signalsat output.

Step 4: ICL 8038

The ICL8038 waveform generator is a monolithicintegrated

circuit capable of producing high accuracy sine,square, triangular, sawtooth and pulse waveformswith a minimum of external components. Thefrequency (or repetition rate) can be selectedexternally from 0.001Hz to more than 300kHz usingeither resistors or capacitors, and frequency

modulation and sweeping can be accomplished withan external voltage. The ICL8038 is fabricated withadvanced monolithic technology, using Schottkybarrier diodes and thin film resistors, and the output isstable over a wide range of temperature and supplyvariations. These devices may be interfaced withphase locked loop circuitry to reduce temperature driftto less than 250ppm/oC.

Step 5: Comparators and OP-Amps

Use Good quality Comparators and Op-Amps in this Project to obtain Good Quality Output waveforms.

Step 6: Amplifier Section (Old Discarded )

Spent Too many time in making amplifier section, My old Amplifier section are made up of two opamps(TL072)This old amplifier section was handling shine wave and triangle wave easily but square wave get meshed up athigher frequencies above 100 Khz. So i decided to use comparator(LM393) instead of opamps becausecompatator can handle square wave easily because of there fast response time.
