The current work started as the theme for my Masters thesis. The objetive was to prove the va-lue of using modern techniques such as laser scanning and 3d modeling in the aid of preser-ving and further understanding our heritage.
Many of our beloved castles were lost during the independence wars in the XVII century making
this document essencial in the understaning of our past.
The final result was the digital reconstruction of some of the lost castles (fortresses) avaiable to be explored using the plataform wich i created.
This work is still in development since the total of structures is around 52.
Book Of Fortresses

PT - LIVRO DAS FORTALEZAS // EN - BOOK OF FORTRESSES
In the beginning of the XVI century King D. Manuel the 1st asked a young painter, Duarte de Armas to travel the Portuguese border and record the current state of our fortresses. The result was the Book of Fortresses, a document that describes our country in the XVI Century.
In March of 2015 i started working with Empatia Arqueologia (Archeology Company). The first project was the digital conservation and restorati-on of some fragments found in Arcos de Valdevez that were going to be the center piece of the ope-ning of the newly restored Paço de Giela, inaugu-rated by the Prime minister of Portugal.
This work counted on the use of photogrametry for the inicial 3D scan of the fragments and then with the aid of extensive research we were able to
3d model every piece to its ideal state, always showing the differences between what exists and the modeled sections.
The final products were shown via images, video and an augumented reality app wich i developed using unity.

Digital restoration of fragments found in Arcos de Valdevez, Portugal.
Caminha is a city in the north of Portu-gal known by its religious architecture. In September of 2015 we aproached the city with a project to digitaly conserve their heritage, making it avaiable to anyo-ne, anywhere.
This first project served to demonstrate the capabilities of laser scanning and 3D modeling. The final goal was to make it
interactive, being completed using unity 5, a digital game engine.
There were many challenges in this pro-ject, starting with the high count of meshes (due to the golden carving, cmon in Portugal), but were solved using reto-po techniques.

Digital restoration of a Church in Caminha to be used as a interactive plataform.
Since i started working with 3D Mode-ling softwares, i felt the need to cons-tantly improve. No work i did was good enough, and i still feel that today, that need to go the next step, go the distance.
To constantly make my work better.I started with sketchup, and then passed to Maya and Blender, being my prefered choice.
From 3D animation, to architecture con-cepts, this chapter demonstrates all types of projects i usually create.
