ABOUT US
Over a hundred years ago in 1906, His Holiness Baba Attar Singh Ji Mastuane Wale had shared
his divine vision with his spiritual follower Sant Teja Singh Ji MA, LLB, AM (Harvard) about a sacred
place in the Himalayan region of Nahan state (now known as Baru Sahib) where many sages and seers
had meditated on the Divine Name. The place was also blessed by Shri Guru Gobind Singh ji during his
visit to Nahan State. Baba Attar Singh Ji had desired that the place should be established as Spiritual Centre
for the educational institutions imparting value based education combined with the modern scientific
education on the pattern of old Gurukuls like Nalanda and Taxila Universities of the past. As ordained,
Sant Teja Singh revealed the Divine Valley Baru Sahib in 1956 to his spiritual disciple Baba lqbal Singh
Ji and later purchased the entire Baru village of 460 acres from Thakur Joginder Singh, the owner of the
land. Sant Teja Singh visited Baru Sahib in 1959 at the age of 82 along with many highly educated
devotees. During his second visit to Baru Sahib a small mud room Gurudwara with a verandah was
constructed and Shri Guru Granth Sahib was installed. During the prayer he prophesied that with the
will of the God this place would turn into a great spiritual centre from where schools, colleges and divine
Universities will impart value based education fromNursery class up to the Ph. D. level. Sant Teja
Singh Ji established a trust in 1965 with his six devotees. It was registered as "The Kalgidhar Trust" on
October 22, 1982 by Baba lqbal Singh ji, then Director Agriculture, Himachal Pradesh, to promote World
Peace through spiritual and value based education and universal brotherhood. To further the cause
of The Kalgidhar Trust, the first Akal Academy was established at Baru Sahib in 1986 and the
outstanding model has been translated to a network of more than 131 Akal Academies running in
various states of Northern India.
Eternal University, Baru Sahib was established under Himachal Pradesh Government Act No. 3 of
2009 to impart value based education in the subjects of Arts, Sciences, Agriculture, Nursing,
Engineering & Technology, Divine Music, Spiritualism and Public Health etc. The Eternal University
is a world class multifaculty university with fourteen colleges and schools spread over 8,00,000 square
feet in the picturesque valley of Divine Peace. The university is developing outstanding Engineers,
Scientists, Administrators, Teachers and Global citizens with high moral values to act as the
messengers of eternal peace and universal brotherhood.
ETERNAL UNIVERSITY, BARU SAHIB
Eternal University has been established under the Himachal Pradesh Act No. 3 of 2009 by the
Kalgidhar Trust as a Private University. The University is sharing over four hundred fifty acres of land

Akal College of Agriculture (ACA)
Introduction
Akal College of Agriculture (ACA) has been established in the Eternal University, Baru
Sahib for providing undergraduate (B.Sc.(Hons.) Agriculture and B.Tech. Food technology) and
postgraduate (M.Sc. in Food Technology and Ph.D.in Biotechnology) teaching and research and
development in the field of agriculture and allied streams like biotechnology (with specialization in
plant, pharmaceutical, environmental and animal biotechnology) and Food Technology. Agriculture
had transformed Indian and global economy by ensuring food, nutrition and health security to ever
increasing population. Keeping in view the scope and benefits of agriculture in Indian and global
context, the Akal College of Agriculture has initiated undergraduate and postgraduate programmes
with a combination of innovative courses and basic research in different areas of specialization in
biotechnology and food technology through highly trained and experienced faculty. Simultaneous
development of the College farm provides field facilities for giving adequate work experience for
the B.Sc. Hons. (Agri.) course. Much stress is being given at the under graduate level to train the
students in all the farm operations. They have to raise all the important crops of the State in small
plots in the college farm under the `work experience' programme. In the final year of the course
they will be given intensive field training in the Research farms of the University where they will
get proper exposure to the practical problems in agriculture. The goal of ACA is to develop and
enhance the professional skills of the students with respect to the diversification of hill agriculture,
including supplementary, complimentary and competitive enterprises in the agricultural sector
scenario.
The Eternal University has also entered into MOUs with national and international
laboratories to enable the students to take up their research work effectively. Major emphasis in
postgraduate research is being given on improvement of functional food ingredients,
biofortification of micronutrients and enhancement of their bioavailability, bioprospecting of
medicinal plants for diverse pharmaceutical potential and conservation of ecosystem and
biodiversity.
Keeping in view the scope and application of biotechnological interventions in food,
nutrition and health security and sustainability of natural resources, Eternal University, Baru Sahib
established Akal School of Biotechnology, now department of Biotechnology in Akal College of
Agriculture in September, 2010 to promote excellence in teaching and research in biotechnology
with specialization on plant molecular breeding, bioprospecting of functional foods, medicinal
plants and microbial biodiversity of Himalaya. The department with highly trained and dedicated
faculty and state of the art laboratory facilities has taken up a Department of Biotechnology (GOI)
funded project on “Biofortification of wheat for high grain micronutrients using conventional and
Molecular Breeding approaches”, while a few other projects submitted to various national
organizations are under consideration.

AKAL COLLEGE OF ARTS & SOCIAL SCIENCES
1) Introduction:
The Akal College of Arts and Social Sciences is a unique set of its lofty ideals as enunciated by
our founder Saint, Sant Attar Singh Ji when he said, “Students must engage themselves in right
earnest to the task of getting the required knowledge, both spiritual and worldly so as to become
the messengers of peace and spiritual brother-hood; imbued with love and compassion they
should serve the downtrodden and the neediest of the needy and thereby help in establishing
permanent peace in the world”.
Akal College of Arts and Social Sciences is divided into two wings:
(I) Akal College of Divine Music & Spiritualism: This wing was established in the year 2008,
under the aegis of UGC approved Eternal University, at Baru Sahib (H.P). The objective for
setting up this institute was a holistic approach of imparting knowledge in the field of Music (both
Vocal & Instrumental), following Guru- Shishya-Paramapra, the system in which Indian
traditional music was nurtured & thrived for centuries. The institute thus follows integrated
approach, by working towards not only academic learning along- with professional skills
development in Music but also towards harnessing good value system. The USP of Akal college
of Divine Music & Spiritualism is that, it provides students an opportunity with a rare
combination of learning Divine Music, along with ancient Indian string instruments like Rabab,
Taaus, Dilruba, Taar- Shehnai , Sarod, Sitar, Sarangi, Saranda and Violin, that makes the
students well groomed, more confident of one’s abilities & is of immense help to them while
seeking employment for teaching in the field of Music.
Students from this college are regularly performing live with variety of string instruments for
Shabad-Kirtan presentation, at various National &International locations. Most of the students
who have passed out from this college till date have been successfully placed at various
institutions across the country.
(II) Second wing Akal College of Arts was established in 2009. The college offers a three years
programme leading to Bachelor of Arts(B. A.) and a two years degree programme for M. A. in
English. The main objective of the university in establishing this department was to build
impressive linguistic capacities of students and also enable them to design models of interpretation
and explanations through strategic thinking. Besides, they can identify passages in texts for case
studies in soft/communicative/cognitive skills and may write papers for national and international

importance of effective communication.
