This year, the Hong Kong Baptist University Foundation is celebrating the 5th anniversary of its establishment. In order to enhance the concept of endowment to the University and to strengthen its capabilities of raising funds designated for different specified purposes, the HKBU Foundation was set up in early 2009, a difficult time because of the global financial tsunami. I remember saying at the inauguration ceremony of the Foundation: “At a time when economic assets are depreciating, we should invest in human assets. This is the best time to invest in education.” Five years later, it is gratifying to record that the tireless support of our educational partners has been amply rewarded by the academic successes achieved by the University and the international recognition it has earned. In 2013, HKBU was ranked by Quacquarelli Symonds 43rd among some 4,000 universities in Asia. The University has also received approval from the Ministry of Science and Technology of the PRC to establish the Partner State Key Laboratory of Environmental and Biological Analysis. Furthermore, our School of Business has received the European Quality Improvement System (EQUIS) accreditation, and is now among the one per cent of the world’s business schools that have triple accreditation (AACSB, AMBA and EQUIS).

Our Whole Person Education ethos has been warmly endorsed by numerous individuals, organisations and charitable foundations which share our vision. This backing is illustrated by the progressive expansion in scale achieved by the Foundation every year. As of December 2013, the membership stands at 392, an impressive growth of two-fold since its inception. In addition to the increase in the number of new members, the Foundation continuously receives tremendous support from existing members, which is proof of society’s recognition of the work of the University. Riding on this support, the Foundation has managed to raise more than HK$730 million since 2009, helping the University to implement an impressive array of advancement projects with far-reaching impact. I would like to take this opportunity to thank our generous donors for their kind benefaction and devotion to education. Special recognition also goes to all members of the Board of Governors, the Entrepreneur Committee and the Alumni Committee, which are instrumental in enhancing the University’s fundraising capabilities and extending its support base.

Taking full advantage of the Sixth Matching Grant Scheme, the University has continued its efforts to solicit funds from all available sources in order to support new initiatives in teaching and research. It is most encouraging that so far we have exceeded the fundraising achievement of the previous round of the Scheme. I will bring you more good news after completion of

今年是香港浸會大學基金成立五周年紀念。為增進社會人士對浸大的捐獻意識，並加強大學的籌款力度以推進各方面的發展，香港浸會大學基金於二零零九年初正式成立，正值全球金融海嘯的艱難時期。猶記得在基金的成立典禮上，我曾經說過：「在經濟資產貶值時，應該投資人才資產，而現時是投資教育的最好時機。」經過五年的努力，我們喜見浸大的學術成就及國際聲譽與日俱增，對一直支持大學的教育盟友，作出了豐盛的回報。二零一三年，根據國際高等教育研究機構Quacquarelli Symonds，浸大於四千多所亞洲大學中名列第四十三位。此外，大學獲國家科學技術部批准，成立「環境與生物分析國家重點實驗室夥伴實驗室」。工商管理學院亦獲頒「歐洲質量發展認證體系」（EQUIS），成為全球少於百分之一能夠獲得三重認證（國際管理教育協會AACSB、工商管理碩士課程協會AMBA及歐洲質量發展認證體系EQUIS）的商學院。

我們的全人教育理念，一直以來得到許多與我們抱負一致的人士、機構和慈善基金的熱心支持，從香港浸會大學基金的規模每年持續增長，可見一斑。截至二零一三年十二月底，會員人數已達三百九十二人，較成立時增加兩倍。除了有新會員陸續加入，基金亦不斷得到現有會員的鼎力襄助，這足以證明大學的工作獲得社會各界的認同。端賴各會員的支持，基金自二零零九年至今，已成功籌得逾港幣七億三千萬元，有助大學推動各項影響深遠的發展計劃。我謹此衷心感謝各位捐款人的慷慨捐資以及對教育的熱誠，同時亦特別鳴謝基金董事局、企業家委員會和校友委員會各位成員，群策群力，協助大學提升籌款能力及擴闊社會網絡。

對補助金計劃，令人鼓舞。待計劃於今年七月底完結後，我會為大家帶來更多好消息。過去一年，大學獲得多項大額捐款，包括：

• 安利（中國）日用品有限公司捐資港幣一千萬元，用以設立「香港浸會大學饒宗頤國學院──Amway發展基金」；

• 黃乾亨黃英豪律師事務所首席合夥人黃英豪博士，BBS，JP雅諾捐資港幣一千萬元，襄助大學推行「黃英豪博士傑出客座教授計劃」；

• 香港賽馬會慈善信託基金雅諾捐資港幣九百五十五萬元，資助大學興建將軍澳聯合學生宿舍；

• 百樂酒店物業管理有限公司董事總經理羅嘉穗小姐，MH捐資港幣五百萬元、林長泉伉儷雅諾捐資港幣五百萬元、香港潮屬社團總會捐資港幣四百四十萬元、維妮衛生用品有限公司蘇啟聲伉儷捐資港幣三百萬元、深圳市唐商投資集團有限公司捐資港幣二百八十萬元，以及智韜慈善基金有限公司捐資港幣二百萬元，支持香港浸會大學饒宗頤國學院的學術活動及教研工作；

• 許士芬夫人及公子許晉義、晉廉昆仲合共捐資港幣二百萬元，支持許士芬博士體康研究中心設立低氧模擬實驗室。

值得一提的是大學最近獲得不少熱心人士捐贈其珍貴的收藏品作慈善拍賣，成為大學籌款的新趨勢。這些珍藏品包括張安德先生捐贈的畫作、古董和工藝品；謝安如博士伉儷捐贈的仿古名車；陳振東博士捐贈的古董花瓶；榮休校長謝志偉博士捐贈的名貴腕錶；以及饒宗頤基金捐贈的十二套書畫精品。我們很高興張安德先生珍藏慈善拍賣會共籌得逾港幣一千萬元，用以支持「張安德中醫藥國際貢獻獎」；而饒宗頤教授書畫精品慈善拍賣則籌得逾港幣二千八百萬元，襄助饒宗頤國學院的發展。

the current Scheme in late July 2014. In the past year, the University received numerous major donations, including the following:

• Amway (China) Company Limited donated HK$10 million for the establishment of the HKBU Jao Tsung-I Academy of Sinology – Amway Development Fund;

• Dr. Kennedy Y.H. Wong, BBS, JP, Managing Partner of Philip K H Wong, Kennedy Y H Wong & Co., pledged a donation of HK$10 million for the establishment of the Dr. Kennedy Y.H. Wong Distinguished Visiting Professorship Scheme;

• The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust pledged to donate HK$9.55 million for the construction of the Tseung Kwan O Joint Student Hostel;

• Several donations or pledges were designated for the HKBU Jao Tsung-I Academy of Sinology, including HK$5 million from Miss Elizabeth Law, MH, Managing Director of Park Hotel Property Management Limited; HK$5 million from Mr. and Mrs. Lam Cheung Chuen; HK$4.4 million from the Federation of Hong Kong Chiu Chow Community Organizations; HK$3 million from Mr. and Mrs. So Kai Sing of Winnie Sanitary Product Limited; HK$2.8 million from Tangshang Group Limited (Shenzhen); and HK$2 million from Chi Tao Charitable Foundation Limited; and

• Mrs. Anna Hui, Mr. Richard C.Y. Hui and Mr. William C.L. Hui made a donation of HK$2 million for the construction of a Hypoxia Chamber in the Dr. Stephen Hui Research Centre for Physical Recreation and Wellness.

It is worth mentioning that the University recently received a number of valuable collections and collectable items donated by enthusiastic individuals for charity auctions, which have become a new trend in fundraising for the University. These included a collection of paintings, antiques and craftworks from Mr. Cheung On Tak, an antique car replica from Dr. and Mrs. Andrew Sia, an antique vase from Dr. John Chan, a precious watch from President Emeritus Dr. Daniel Tse, and 12 sets of fine works of art from the Jao Tsung I Foundation. We are delighted that the charity auction of Mr. Cheung On Tak’s collection raised more than HK$10 million in support of the Cheung On Tak International Award for Outstanding Contribution to Chinese Medicine, while the charity auction of Professor Jao Tsung-i’s fine works of art raised more than HK$28 million for the development of the HKBU Jao Tsung-I Academy of Sinology.

In the past years, with the support of the Foundation, the University has established a number of development and research funds to support its teaching and research endeavours in various disciplines and research areas. The Foundation has also allocated substantial resources in support of the Campus Master Plan, student scholarships and bursaries, and the internationalisation of campus. Looking forward, we will continue to count on the unfailing support of society to help the University fulfill its educational ideals and commitments, achieve the highest standards in teaching and research, and establish a first-rate Chinese medicine teaching hospital. You are most welcome to join us in supporting HKBU to nurture talent for the betterment of Hong Kong.

回顧過去一年，憑藉大學社群的共同努力，在高質素教與學、創新研究和致力服務社會三大策略發展重點下，香港浸會大學取得長足的發展，締造不少佳績。

在推動研究方面，二零一三年初浸大成立全港首間國學院──「饒宗頤國學院」，肩負弘揚中國文化的歷史重任，並邀得當代國學大師饒宗頤教授出任永遠榮譽院長，期望在饒教授的指導及支持下，全面培育國學與漢學的研究專才，為中國的文藝復興貢獻力量。另一方面，浸大再次爭取到額外資源，開拓新的研究據點。繼深圳研究中心後，設於江蘇省常熟經濟技術開發區的「常熟研究院」已經落成啟用，集中推進中醫藥及新材料等研究。同時，浸大亦獲江蘇省海門市政府的支持，提供二十萬平方呎樓面用地，並撥款逾二億元人民幣，襄助本校成立科技研究院，與美國俄亥俄州立大學合作培訓製藥及傳理方面的專門人才。

除此之外，浸大喜獲國家科學技術部批准，成立「環境與生物分析國家重點實驗室夥伴實驗室」，成為浸大首所同類實驗室。浸大在內地千多家實驗室中脫穎而出，充分肯定大學在環境與生物分析的卓越水平。浸大又與湖南大學合作，成立「化學生物傳感與計量學國家重點實驗室（湖南大學）香港浸會大學分室」，共同開拓中醫藥系統生物學與創新藥物等的研究，增強本校在中醫藥方面的領導地位。過去兩年，浸大研究團隊在國際上提交了六十多項專利申請，進展驕人，再次印證浸大師生的科研實力。

在教學方面，大學在推行「三三四」學制時，不斷深化通識教育的內涵，並提供跨學科的學習機會，例如生物科技與宗教哲學、能源與環保、音樂與人體構造等，以拓闊學生的視野，全方位培育學生身、心、靈的均衡發展。面對

As a result of the concerted efforts of the entire University community, HKBU has made great strides in 2013 on a variety of fronts under the three strategic focuses, namely quality teaching and learning, innovative research, and dedicated service to the community.

On the research front, in early 2013 HKBU inaugurated the Jao Tsung-I Academy of Sinology, the first institution of its kind in Hong Kong, with the aim of promoting Chinese culture. Professor Jao Tsung-i, a true master of Sinology, serves as the Academy’s Honorary Permanent Director. Under his guidance and support, the Academy will endeavour to nurture outstanding researchers in Sinology who can contribute to the Cultural Renaissance in China. Meanwhile, the University has succeeded in acquiring additional resources for setting up new footholds of research development. Following the establishment of the Shenzhen Research Centre, the Changshu Research Institute in Jiangsu Province was officially opened. The institute focuses on research into Chinese medicine and new materials. The University has also received valuable support from the Haimen Municipal People’s Government, which has agreed to provide buildings with a total floor area of 200,000 square feet and allocate more than RMB200 million to HKBU for the establishment of the Institute of Science and Technology. It will train professionals in medicine and communication in collaboration with The Ohio State University.

In addition, we are delighted that HKBU has received approval from The Ministry of Science and Technology of the PRC to establish the Partner State Key Laboratory of Environmental and Biological Analysis, the University’s first such laboratory. HKBU was selected from among more than 1,000 laboratories on the Mainland, a validation of HKBU’s research standards in environmental and biological analysis. Furthermore, the University will establish the HKBU Branch of the State Key Laboratory of Chemo/Biosensing and Chemometrics of Hunan University to jointly conduct research, particularly in systems biology and drug discovery in Chinese medicine, thereby strengthening HKBU’s leading position in the field of Chinese medicine. In the past two years, the University’s research team has made impressive progress with more than 60 patent applications filed. This is once again a testament to the research strength of our academics and students.

In the implementation of the 3-3-4 academic system, the University has continuously enriched the General Education programme, offering a wide range of interdisciplinary courses such as Biotechnology and Religious

當前全球化的挑戰，浸大亦繼續增強與海內外學府的聯繫，加強國際化的步伐，豐富學生的學習體驗。浸大已經與全球二百多所大學簽訂合作協議，推行海外進修和交換生計劃，而在二零一三年，浸大亦與多間知名學府達成協議，推出聯合碩士及博士等課程，發揮協同效應，加強學生的學習果效。

此外，浸大一直致力回饋社會，把學術知識轉移到社會應用上，惠澤社群。例如，視覺藝術院接手策劃由何鴻毅家族基金創辦的攝影教育計劃「憧憬世界」，開展一系列青年攝影工作坊、社區合作計劃及攝影教育導師培訓課程，鼓勵青少年善用攝影表達他們對自身、家庭及社區的反思。社會科學院也推出首個跨世代、跨學科的「學習社群」項目，為大學教員、專業人士、大學生、中學生和長者提供一個互相交流和學習的平台。

另外，有鑑於中醫對治療中風、痛症、腫瘤等慢性疾病效果顯著，因應社會需求，浸大一直積極推動籌建香港首間中醫教學醫院，讓病人得以接受全面和有系統的中醫藥住院治療。浸大將繼續與政府磋商，爭取把前李惠利校舍用地用作興建中醫教學醫院和學生宿舍，我們已就前李惠利校舍整幅用地的未來發展，舉行多個諮詢會，收集大學社群的意見，集思廣益，以期作出全面的規劃，並向政府展示本校全力爭取整幅用地的決心。

浸大在本地院校中校園佔地面積最小，師生人數相對較少，但我們並沒有因為研究資源短缺、學生宿舍不足等艱難的條件而窒礙發展步伐。正是在匱乏的資源下，我們更懂得珍惜、善用，貫徹浸大創校以來，師生校友恪守的精神──不屈不撓、自強不息，並以創新靈活的應變力，努力尋求和開拓各種額外資源，爭取更多樂意為高等教育發展而作出貢獻的人士及機構與我們合作，共同實踐宏大的教育理想。

浸大的願景是發展成為亞洲區內提供全人教育的最佳學府。我們將竭盡所能，不負各捐款人、社會人士的厚望，秉持創新、力臻至善的信念，打造一間放眼世界、啟發創意的高等學府，讓浸大的影響力，超越香港，遍布中國內地、亞洲以至全世界。

Philosophy, Energy and the Environment, Music and the Human Body. The programme aims to broaden the horizons of students and nurture all aspects of their personal development. To cope with new challenges of the globalised world, the University constantly seeks collaboration with overseas institutions in order to enhance the internationalisation of campus and to enrich students’ learning experience. HKBU has entered into agreements for overseas study and student exchange with more than 200 institutions. In 2013, the University also reached agreement with a number of prominent institutions to launch joint programmes leading to Master’s and PhD degrees. Such synergy effects will surely enhance the learning effectiveness of our students.

As always, HKBU is committed to giving back to society through applying academic knowledge to serve the community. For example, the Academy of Visual Arts took over the Through Our Eyes arts education programme from The Robert H. N. Ho Family Foundation to provide photography workshops for young people plus community-based projects of various size and training workshops for artist-educators. This project encourages young people to reflect on themselves, their families and the community through lens-based media. Another example is the Faculty of Social Sciences’ first trans-generational and interdisciplinary Community of Practice project, which provides a platform for teaching staff, professionals, HKBU students, secondary school students and elderly people to interact with and learn from one another.

In view of the apparent therapeutic efficacy of Chinese medicine to treat chronic diseases such as strokes, pain and cancer, HKBU is committed to establishing the first Chinese medicine teaching hospital so that patients can receive comprehensive and systematic inpatient treatment with Chinese medicine. The University will continue to negotiate with the Government to acquire the former Lee Wai Lee campus site for constructing the Chinese medicine teaching hospital and student hostels. We have held several consultation sessions to collect views from the University community on the future development of the entire Lee Wai Lee site so as to devise a comprehensive plan for the site and demonstrate the University’s determination in its quest for it.

HKBU’s campus area is the smallest among all local institutions and the number of staff and students is relatively small. However, unfavourable conditions such as the lack of research funding and insufficient student accommodation do not hinder our pace of development. With scarce resources, we have learnt to cherish and better utilise what we have, in keeping with the spirit of perseverance and self-reliance upheld by the University community since the founding of HKBU. While we spare no effort in soliciting funds from all available sources by drawing on our creativity and adaptability, we are eager to invite more individuals and organisations that are devoted to higher education to assist us in bringing our ambitious educational dreams into reality.

HKBU aspires to become the best regional provider of Whole Person Education. To meet the expectations of our donors and the general public, we will constantly uphold our commitment to the continuous pursuit of excellence and innovation, and strive to develop HKBU into a creativity-inspiring institution of higher education with global vision and extend its influence beyond Hong Kong and across Mainland China to the rest of Asia and the world.

HKBU has inaugurated the Jao Tsung-I Academy of Sinology, the first institution of its kind in Hong Kong. The Academy will pursue innovative research to enhance academic excellence in Chinese studies and to develop a Chinese-style ideology which combines traditional Chinese values with relevance for modern times. Professor Jao Tsung-i, a true master of Sinology, serves as the Academy’s Honorary Permanent Director.

浸大創立本港首所國學院──「饒宗頤國學院」，以「闡揚國故，復興國學」為宗旨，銳意透過創新研究提升國學和漢學的學術地位，並建立一套具有中華文化特色的現代思想。國學院邀得國學大師饒宗頤教授擔任永遠榮譽院長。

Taking advantage of the academic synergies offered by Hong Kong and the Mainland, HKBU has established new research institutes on the Mainland. An important foothold for HKBU in the dynamic Yangtze River Delta Region has been created with the establishment of the Changshu Research Institute in the Changshu Economic and Technological Development Zone in Jiangsu Province. The Institute focuses on research and knowledge transfer in the fields of new materials, Chinese medicine, modern management and modern media.

浸大充分利用香港和內地學術界的協同優勢，近年在國內開設新的研究中心。位於江蘇省常熟經濟技術開發區的「常熟研究院」，成為大學在長三角地區的重要據點，致力促進新材料、中醫藥、現代管理和媒體的尖端研究和知識轉移活動。

HKBU has established the “Partner State Key Laboratory of Environmental and Biological Analysis (Hong Kong Baptist University)”, the first such laboratory of the University to gain the approval of the Ministry of Science and Technology. The Laboratory will carry out research focusing on environmental and food safety, diseases associated with persistent organic pollutants (POPs) and human health protection.

浸大獲國家科學技術部批准設立「環境與生物分析國家重點實驗室夥伴實驗室（香港浸會大學）」，是大學首所同類實驗室。實驗室將專注進行環境及食品安全、人類健康和疾病相關的持久性有機污染物的研究。

HKBU has entered into an agreement with Hunan University to set up the HKBU Branch of the State Key Laboratory of Chemo/Biosensing and Chemometrics of Hunan University. The two institutions will work together to conduct research into molecular, biomedical and translational sciences, aiming to produce groundbreaking results in the field of Chinese medicine.

浸大與湖南大學簽署合作協議，成立「化學生物傳感與計量學國家重點實驗室（湖南大學）香港浸會大學分室」，共同開展分子科學、生物醫學與轉化科學的研究，期望在中醫藥研究領域取得突破性的成果。

Professor Ken Yung of the Department of Biology led his research team in developing a new tailor-made neurological disorder therapy using neural stem cells extracted from live brains. The research has received a provisional patent by The United States Patent and Trademark Office.

生物系翁建霖教授率領團隊，成功研發一項神經幹細胞療法，度身訂造一個合適治療神經退化疾病患者的方案。研究已獲美國專利商標局發出臨時專利。

Dr. Edmond Ma, Assistant Professor of the Department of Chemistry, was awarded HK$1 million from the Health and Medical Research Fund 2012-13 of the HKSAR Government in support of a collaborative research project on the development of inhibitors for treating Hepatitis C.

化學系助理教授馬迪龍博士獲特區政府的二零一二至一三年醫療衞生研究基金撥款港幣一百萬元，資助一項研發抑製劑治療丙型肝炎的協作研究項目。

Professor Ricky Wong, Associate Vice-President and Chair Professor of the Department of Biology, and his research team have been studying the impact of ginsenosides on human cells for a number of years. During the course of the research, the team has released several papers pointing to the potential application of the properties of ginsenosides in healthcare and therapeutic treatments.

協理副校長兼生物系講座教授黃岳順教授與團隊長期研究人參不同的活性成分對人體細胞的影響，至今已發表多份研究報告，希望最終可確定人參在保健及醫療上的潛在療效。

Professor Liu Jiming, Chair Professor, Dr. Shi Benyun, Research Assistant Professor, and Mr. Xia Shang, PhD student of the Department of Computer Science, worked with experts from Hong Kong and the Mainland to develop an epidemiological diffusion model. Based on clinical observations on acupuncture treatment of tinnitus conducted over the past three years, the School of Chinese Medicine has developed a new acupuncture therapy integrated with modern medication, resulting in an efficacy rate of 91 percent.

The Faculty of Social Sciences launched its pioneering trans-generational and interdisciplinary Community of Practice project. The project enables teaching staff to transfer their academic and professional expertise to university students, and then to secondary school students and the community at large through outreach community-learning activities.

The School of Chinese Medicine launched the first local Chinese Medicinal Material Images Database with photographs and detailed information covering over 420 crude drugs commonly used in Chinese medicine. The database not only greatly facilitates teaching and learning of Chinese medicine, but also serves as a good e-learning platform for the public and plays an important role in promoting the popularisation and internationalisation of Chinese medicine.

Lui Seng Chun is also featured in the collection of special stamps on “Revitalisation of Historic Buildings in Hong Kong” issued by Hongkong Post.

Dr. Qiu Jianwen, Associate Professor of the Department of Biology, became the first Hong Kong scientist to embark on China’s manned submersible Jiaolong and participate in a deep-sea expedition lasting 40 days. The mission will help to further research into protecting the environment and biological resources in deep seas.

In recognition of their outstanding research performance, Professor Raymond Wong, Chair Professor and Associate Head of the Department of Chemistry, and Dr. Ken Leung, Assistant Professor of the Department, won the Asian Rising Stars awards at the 15th Asian Chemical Congress organised by the Federation of Asian Chemical Societies. Professor Wong also won the Asian Core Program Lectureship Award at the 4th New Phase International Conference of Cutting-Edge Organic Chemistry in Asia, while Dr. Leung was presented with the Material Research Contribution Award by the Asia Pacific Society for Materials Research.

A team formed by six HKBU students from four specialities won the Silver Project Award at the 2013 International Bio-molecular Design Competition. The team, the only one from Hong Kong to win an award, designed a self-assembled DNA origami biological marker which can assist in clinical diagnosis.

Alumnus Steve Chan Chi Fat of the Academy of Film won the First Feature Film Initiative launched by Creative Hong Kong under the Commerce and Economic Development Bureau for his screenplay, co-written with Alumnus Wong Chi Yeung, and production proposal for a commercial film entitled “Weeds on Fire”. He was awarded HK$2 million by the Film Development Fund to make the film.

Alumnus Wilson Cheung Wai Yin of the Department of Physical Education has been employed in Switzerland as the only Chinese Arctic expedition tour guide in the world. He also won a scholarship from the European Union to study a Master’s programme.

Dr. Ester Leung, Associate Professor of the Department of English Language and Literature, was named Outstanding Mentor of Social Enterprise in the Friends of Social Enterprise Award Scheme 2013 organised by the Home Affairs Department. The award recognised her outstanding voluntary work in and contributions to the professional training of interpreters from ethnic minorities and interpreter trainers.

The Hong Kong Baptist University Foundation was established in early 2009 with a clear mandate to enhance the University’s fundraising capabilities and to broaden its support base. The Foundation undertakes to secure funding resources to sustain the University’s development in the following spheres:

• To reform the University’s academic curriculum in order to meet the demands of the new four-year undergraduate system implemented in 2012;

• To raise the University’s research quality and to support interdisciplinary and theme-based research projects;

• To embark on a far-reaching Campus Master Plan to create superlative teaching, learning, and research environments for faculty and students;

• To provide scholarships and bursaries to finance the studies of outstanding students;

• To promote an enhanced international environment on campus and to welcome world-renowned scholars to the University for fruitful and enlightening academic exchange.

Appointed by the University’s Council, in conjunction with the President and Vice-Chancellor, the Board of Governors is responsible for the management of the Foundation to ensure that it consistently supports the University’s advancement projects. The Foundation has two standing committees, namely the Entrepreneur Committee and the Alumni Committee, which give advice and recommendations to the Board on the formulation of fundraising strategies and the extension of the University’s support base.

HKBU has unveiled its 10-year development blueprint Vision 2020 which states the University’s goal of becoming the best regional provider of Whole Person Education. To help the University achieve this ambitious goal, the Foundation has set itself the challenging task of raising at least HK$100 million annually in support of the various initiatives planned under Vision 2020.

為了加強籌款力度及拓闊大學的社會網絡，香港浸會大學基金於二零零九年初成立，致力籌募充足的經費資源，協助浸大推進各領域的發展，其中包括：

• 革新課程以配合二零一二年實施的大學四年新學制；

In Memoriam 永遠懷念 31

The Foundation records with deepest sorrow the passing of Mr. Ian Robert Anderson MacCallum, Vice Chairman and Founding Trustee of the Croucher Foundation, Honorary Permanent President of the HKBU Foundation, on 5 April 2013. He was 82 years old.

Mr. MacCallum was a highly respected philanthropist devoted to the development of society and higher

education in Hong Kong through his invaluable contributions to the work of the Croucher Foundation. He will always be remembered for his generous support for the University’s development.

The Foundation records with deepest sorrow the passing of Mrs. Helen Choi Siu Shuet Har, Sponsoring Member of the HKBU Foundation, Director of the HKBU Century Club and alumna of the Department of English Language and Literature, on 31 August 2013. She was 66 years old.

Alumna Siu was a staunch supporter and beloved friend of her alma mater. In addition to making donations for the

University’s development, she was enthusiastic in performing voluntary work at the University. She will be greatly missed by the University community.

The Foundation records with deepest sorrow the passing of Mr. Tsang Wing Hong, Member of the Tsang Shiu Tim Charitable Foundation, Honorary Permanent President of the HKBU Foundation, on 7 September 2013. He was over 90 years old.

Mr. Tsang made significant contributions to the community through the Tsang Shiu Tim Charitable

Foundation. The University also benefited from his Foundation’s generous donation in support of our Campus Master Plan. Mr. Tsang will always be remembered for his enthusiastic support for the University's development.

The Foundation records with deepest sorrow the passing of Dr. the Hon. Lee Quo Wei, GBM, JP, Honorary Senior Adviser of Hang Seng Bank, which is an Honorary Trustee of the HKBU Foundation, and recipient of an Honorary Doctorate of Business Administration (1992) from HKBU, on 10 August 2013. He was 95 years old.

A devoted community leader and philanthropist, Dr. Lee was highly respected throughout Hong Kong. His association with the University can be traced back to 1975 when he supported Baptist College in securing a low interest loan from the Government to help solve the College’s financial problems. Over the years, Dr. Lee and his family foundation, Wei Lun Foundation Limited, donated more than HK$25 million in support of various endeavours of HKBU, including the student hostel project, the Tsinghua University Visiting Professorships, the Wei Lun Foundation China Studies Scholarship, the construction of the David C. Lam Building, among others. Dr. Lee will always be remembered for his distinguished contribution to the development of the University and as a beloved and respected member of the HKBU community.

香港浸會大學基金永遠榮譽董事恒生銀行名譽資深顧問及浸大一九九二年榮譽工商管理博士學位領受人利國偉博士，GBM，JP於二零一三年八月十日辭世，享年九十五歲，基金同仁深表哀悼。

利博士是一位滿腔熱誠的社會領袖和慈善家，深受香港社會人士敬仰。他與浸大的淵源可追溯到一九七五年，當時他為浸會學院爭取政府的低息貸款，幫助解決學院的財務困難。多年來，利博士和其家族設立的偉倫基金有限公司慷慨捐資逾港幣二千五百萬元，支持浸大多項發展，包括學生宿舍籌建計劃、清華大學客座教授計劃、偉倫基金中研獎學金、興建思齊樓等。這位受人愛戴和尊重的大學成員及他對浸大發展的傑出貢獻，我們定必銘記於心。

香港浸會大學基金永遠榮譽主席裘槎基金會創會董事兼副主席麥加林律師於二零一三年四月五日辭世，享年八十二歲，基金同仁深表哀悼。

麥律師多年來透過裘槎基金會之工作，積極推動香港社會及高等教育的發展，貢獻良多。他對浸大發展的慷慨支持，我們永誌不忘。

香港浸會大學基金贊助會員、本校英國語言文學系校友兼尚志會理事蔡蕭雪霞女士於二零一三年八月三十一日辭世，享年六十六歲，基金同仁深表哀悼。

蕭校友多年來關愛母校，慷慨捐資，襄助大學發展，惠澤莘莘學子。她又經常擔任大學義工，斥資力行，貢獻良多。大學同仁將會永遠懷念這位摯友。

香港浸會大學基金永遠榮譽主席曾肇添慈善基金成員曾永康先生於二零一三年九月七日辭世，享年九十餘歲，基金同仁深表哀悼。

曾先生熱心公益，多年來透過曾肇添慈善基金博施濟眾，對浸大更是關愛有加，慷慨捐資襄助大學校園總體發展規劃。我們定必銘記曾先生對浸大發展的熱心支持。

12/4/2013, 13/10/2013 ﹠ 28/11/2013The Charity Auction of Mr. Cheung On Tak’s Collection was held. The University received a collection of paintings, antiques and craftworks from Mr. Cheung On Tak, Founder of Cheung On Tak Charity Foundation, for charity auction. Over HK$10 million was raised in support of the Cheung On Tak International Award for Outstanding Contribution to Chinese Medicine.

張安德先生珍藏慈善拍賣會──大學獲張安德慈善基金創辦人張安德先生捐贈一批珍貴畫作、古董及工藝收藏品作慈善拍賣，為大學籌得逾港幣一千萬元，用以支持「張安德中醫藥國際貢獻獎」。

32 2/5/2013The Opening Ceremony of the Exhibition of the 1886 Benz Patent Motor-Wagen Replica was held. The University received the precious donation of a faithful replica of the world’s first automobile from Dr. and Mrs. Andrew Sia for charity auction in support of the School of Chinese Medicine Development Fund.

28/10/2013Emeritus President Dr. Daniel Tse donated a precious gold watch to the University for charity auction, which raised HK$1.5 million in support of the Daniel and Kitty Tse Visiting Professorship Scheme.

18/9/2013The Ceremony for the Donation of Professor Jao Tsung-i’s Fine Works of Art was held. The University received 12 sets of fine works of art from the Jao Tsung I Foundation for charity auction in support of the HKBU Jao Tsung-I Academy of Sinology.

7/10/2013The Fundraising Dinner for the HKBU Jao Tsung-I Academy of Sinology was held. The event raised more than HK$46 million for the Academy, with over HK$28 million coming from the charity auction of Professor Jao’s fine works of art. Tangshang Group Limited (Shenzhen) bid HK$5.3 million, the highest price in the charity auction, for the signature item “Red Lotus with Five-character Couplet in Running Script”.
