Based on the experiment last week, our group has been done experiment Aggregate Impact Value (AIV). In this experiment, there’s a few reason why this test is important. Aggregate impact value test gives an indication of aggregate’s toughness property (property of a material to resist impact) is one of the reason why AIV is important. Our group has done the experiment by identify it from two sample of aggregate which are been labeled sample A and sample B. With the same weight of cup (785 g), the average of weight before crush is 300 g from both sample. Meanwhile, the average of weight retained in 2.36 mm sieve is 235 g, this is because the sample A and sample B obtained the same weight (235 g) after been crushed. In other hand, the weight of passing aggregate through 2.36 mm sieve after been crushed for sample A is 60 g, meanwhile, for sample B is 65 g. Thus, the average for weight passing the sieve is 62.5 g. From the data that we had from the experiment, the percent obtained from the calculation is 20.83 %. The aggregate is must not have greater than 30%, a statement that the results obtained should be treated with caution. In the other words, our experiment was succeed. ------------------------------------------------------------ ----------------------------------------------- The experiment indicated a few improvements to the problem such as the different data will be collected when the weighting process because of wind resistance. Based on the experiment last week, our group has been done experiment Aggregate Impact Value (AIV). In this experiment, theres a few reason why this test is important. Aggregate impact value testgives an indication of aggregates toughness property (property of a material to resist impact) is one of the reason why AIV is important. Thus, the average for weight passing the sieve is 62.5 g.From the data that we had from the experiment, the percent obtained from the calculation is 20.83 %. The aggregate is must not have greater than 30%, a statement that the results obtained should be treated with caution. In the other words, our experiment was succeed.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------The experiment indicated a few improvements to the problem such as the different data will be collected when the weightingprocess becauseof wind resistance. The sample data may be higher or lower than the reading databecause of the reading error.Beside that, the distance of the person hand while tamping may cause different result. Tamping layer also can affect the error reading because its done manually and not consistence with the others. The brass plateare not closed may cause reduction to the weight of sampleafterbeing crushed. The aggregate will fall out from brass plate because of the hammer was released freely and fall on the aggregate. The height of hammerand brass plate can also be the factor to the error data. These are the precaution or improvement that can we make is, laboratory mustbeen closed area especially at the measuringarea to avoid the wind resistance that will be affected the weight data or closed box of measuring machine.Second, to avoid error of the sample data, only one person with consistence strength and distance can reduced the error. Its more effective if can be doing using a machine than manually. The brass plate must been in closed machine to make sure that the sample not fall out from brass plate. Hammer must in same size with the brass plate to ensure that the aggregate are crash accurately.
