Building A Foundation of Disaster Ready Partner Agencies

• How you choose to build the foundation for disaster ready Partners will define the long-term success of your Food Bank, partners and ultimately your clients

• As in all foundations, start at the beginning: Application Process

It is highly recommended that you revisit your application process and consider adding a disaster preparedness training requirements as a component to becoming a Food Bank Partner Agency. This can be:•A local training or •An online training such as FEMA’s ICS-100

Step-Up Disaster Preparedness, So now you have:•Added new requirement to application process.•Give current partners a deadline to complete some form of basic training.•Require annual training(s).•Consider organizing a annual disaster preparedness conference or incorporate additional training into your partner agency training.

• Track training • Is there a possibility for leads? • Can you separate by shelter, meal, • Are they involved in VOAD? (Discussed later)

Lead them so when that unfortunate day arrives, there is the least amount of stress and despair. Nothing can beat preparedness.

TFBN Report Form In a time of disaster your Food Bank will be required to provide information to TFBN for Statewide and even Nationwide response and reporting purposes.
