digipak feedback

05.11.2015 Digi Pack Feedback. Today my fellow classmates and I came together to discuss about the many different designs we’ve come up with for our Digi packs for our A2 music video. After looking at everybody’s work we concluded by giving each other notes on possible improvements that we could take into consideration. This was one out of my many designs that I came up with. The whole concept of it is that on the front cover you see me very close to the camera and then Olivia at the far back, then on the back cover you see Olivia fading away and then me in the background. I did this purposely to show different perspectives on both the characters. I wanted to show the viewers just how you should see us through sort of different angles in the sense that I seem very sad that my loved one is gone while when you flip the pack you see she’s disappearing. I designed the CD itself to make it feel as though it has depth, that’s why purposely put myself at the side (blocking part of my face) while she’s far in the distance. Then lastly I wanted to show how “broken” my heart is so I made a design where we are on both sides with our hands stretched out to a broken heart (that symbolises where we are at with our relationship).

Digi Pack Feedback.Today my fellow classmates and I came together to discuss about the many different designs we’ve come up with for our Digi packs for our A2 music video.

For the digipak above I created a magazine advert for it to promote the digipak in order for various audiences to like and buy the album. One of the main things I was told by my teacher before designing a magazine advert is that at the end of the day it should be similar to the designs of the digipak. So what I’ve done here is I’ve taken the disappearing aspects and added it into the design of the advert. Here I’m stretching my hands out for Olivia but not only is she too far and “not in the mood” (from her body statue), but also she’s vanishing right in front of me. Everyone liked this idea but there was a comment made from my teacher about how I’m not within the poster. This sort of defeated the intentions of promoting myself since I wasn’t seen on the poster.

This was my second design for my digipak, where I started off trying to focus more on each individual within a very dark background to make the audiences pay more attention to them and the particular emotion within the atmosphere. Both the front cover and the back cover contain one of the actors (Olivia and I) sitting on a wooden chair surrounded by nothing but a black (or white) background. I purposely created this to let viewers have a feel of how “deep” the situation is. The fact that we “seem” to be in the same place (which is because when you flip the digipak you see me Olivia sitting on a chair making it look as though we are sitting opposite each other) surrounded by nothing but what I wanted to create which was a very heavy background. Then I put three dots which connotes that we are both in deep thought. Though this was a pretty good idea for a digipak I was advised to think about the possibilities of using a particular scene within the video and try to apply it into the digipak.

This would be the magazine poster for the digipak above. As you can see I’ve taken certain aspects like the use of us surrounded with a blank space and one of us siting on a chair (that was used in the music video – though it could be any random chair). I’ve designed it to make Olivia look a lot more “important” than me since not only is she relaxed sitting on the chair but also she’s placed in front of me. We are both wearing formal wear to make the ad looking both serious and interesting for audiences. Lastly it goes with the feel overall. Some of the feedback I got back was that rather than continuing with the blank white background I could use some of the locations that I’ve used to film.
