Engineering & Management of Advanced Technology (EMAT) The Department of EMAT at CJCU, established in 2002, is one of Southern Taiwan’s most professional institutes integrating teaching and research in the areas of electronic & computer engineering (ECE) and technology management. To promote personal and professional success, the department offers an undergraduate program, combining an education in ECE with the essentials of technology management, leading to the degree of Bachelor of Science. This addresses industry's need for engineers with strong additional background in management. The EMAT degree course is well suited to individuals who want a broad exposure to electronic & computer technologies combined with marketing, human resource management, total quality management, project management and team working. This integrated program has the following advantages: 1. Opportunity for students to explore both their engineering and management potential. 2. More rapid progression to senior management positions in their future careers. Curriculum: The undergraduate program is designed to prepare the students with the fundamentals, as well as the advanced knowledge that suits students' particular interest. At the entry level, the students are expected to complete the fundamentals of ECE and technology management. At the intermediate level, the students are required to select elective courses of their interest. These elective courses provide the students with slight depth into the areas of integrated circuits, embedded systems, control systems, computer hardware/software, digital signal processing and technology management. To go in advance, the students are encouraged to select at least 6 advanced courses from selective courses offered by the department faculty. Undergraduate Program: Number of credits required for bachelor's degree: 130 credits Common required courses by University (29credits) Required courses by the Department (83 credits) Elective courses (no less than 18 credits) The first year is an introduction to the fundamental subjects and university life in general.

It comprises lectures in Calculus, Physics, Programming Language, Electric Circuits, Logic Design, Business and Economics.

In the second year, the basic concept will be focused to improve your understanding of ECE. This is achieved through courses in Electronics, Engineering Mathematics, Data Structures, Computer Architecture, and Electromagnetics. Your design skills will be developed through a variety of laboratory-based courses. At the same time, you will take

courses in General and Human Resource Management. To build a core capability in ECE, engineering teaching covers in the third year is with

courses in Signals and Systems, Communication Systems, Control Systems, and Digital System Design, and laboratory-based practice. Meanwhile, you will take management courses in Total Quality Management and Marketing. Moreover, you will be able to choose courses from a range of special topics, with the flexibility to maintain a broad base or focus on specific technologies. Your team project placement interviews will take place during the year.

In the fourth year, you are able to choose courses from a specific topic to enhance your understanding of engineering and management. Your team project forms a major part of the final year. Working in an area of your choosing, you will develop design, analysis, construction and fault-finding skills. Many of these projects support research or development work carried out in cooperation with industry.

As a teacher I am to evaluate students’ progress in my subject as fairly as possible. Though it is difficult to quantify your achievement into a number, the grading plane I outlined below will be followed as objectively as possible but subject to change depends on my assessment of students’ learning.

課程概述與目標: (Course Descriptions and Objectives) 課程概述: 程式語言是人腦與電腦間的溝通橋樑,藉由容易讓人理解的符號與指令(高階語言)之使用,

再利用編譯器將之翻譯成電腦可以執行的機器碼(低階語言),便可達到人腦指揮電腦的願望。

本課程以工程界廣泛使用的標準 C 語言為主體,除詳細介紹 C 語言的基礎指令和語法外,更

加強調程式設計的正確觀念和良好習慣之養成。本課程著重實作能力之開發,修習通過後應能

具備撰寫個人化 C 程式的能力。 Course Descriptions: Programming languages serve as the communicational bridge between human brains and computers. Based on the use of some specified symbols and instructions (high-level language) and followed with their interpretation to computer-executable machine codes (low-level language), one can therefore realize the wish to command computers. The present course takes the widespread ANSI C as the main language for learning. Not only fundamental instructions and syntaxes of C language will be introduced, but also the importance of forming correct concepts and good customs in programming will be emphasized. This course also pays attention to the development of practical ability. Students who successfully complete the course will demonstrate the capability of writing a personal C program.

的工程領域上,也有助於提升學生分析物理現象與解決工程問題之能力。 Course Descriptions: The two courses, say advanced engineering mathematics I and II, include the three isolated topics – ordinary differential equations, vector analysis and Fourier analysis in our department. The present course, covering the fore half part, is lecturing on 1)various solving methods of ordinary differential equations: i.e. methods by types, method of Laplace transform and method of power series; 2)various applications of vector differential calculus: i.e. the description for trajectory of a motion body, streamlines of a vector field, gradient and directional derivative of a scalar field. These mathematical tools, being widely used in variety of engineering fields, can help students to enhance their abilities on analysis of physical phenomenon and solving of engineering problems.

In order to understand profoundly the operation of transistors, the physical operation of pn junction has been substantially introduced. And then, describe the manufacturing process and the electric characteristics of diodes. After this, several kinds of diode application circuits have been introduced. The whole basic idea behind this is to let students familiar with the basic concept of electronic circuits. The objective of this course is to develop in the students the ability to analyze and design electronic circuits, both analog and digital, discrete and integrated. While the application of electronic circuits is covered, emphasis is placed on bipolar junction transistor (BJT) circuits design. For example, the characteristics, the concept of DC bias design, the small-signal models, and, finally, analyze and design an amplifier. In this class I attempt to keep up with developments of data structure, for example, the implementation of polynomials, matrices, stacks, and queues using dynamic arrays and array doubling is discussed in Chapters 2 and 3 and the Bellman-Ford shortest paths algorithm has been added to Chapter 6. In Chapter9, which is devoted to the study of priority queues, the sections on min-max heaps and heaps have been removed and new sections on pairing heaps, symmetric min-max heaps, and interval heaps added. Then, the biasing methods studied and small-signal models are derived. An audio-frequency output stage must deliver an appreciable amount of power and be capable of driving low-impedance loads such as loudspeakers. Therefore, we focus on the power amplifier design and characteristics. Differential amplifiers are commonly used as an input stage in various types of analog ICs. We cover the operation, analysis, and characteristics of differential amplifiers using BJTs and MOSFETs. Active current sources and voltage sources are also covered. An op-amp is a popular and versatile integrated circuit. It severs as a building block for many electronic circuits. The analysis and design of circuits employing op-amps can be greatly simplified. 語言(VHDL)以完成 FPGA 設計,並將設計規劃至 DE2 實習平台進行實體驗證,DE2 中包含

一 CYCLONE II FPGA、震盪器與其他周邊元件。實習課採兩人一組的方式進行,每週 2 小時,

共計 18 週。每組同學依據要求之功能以建模(modeling)、合成(synthesis)、模擬指定功能之

數位系統,並將其規劃於 DE2 上的 FPGA 後,進行實體驗證。 Course Descriptions: This course, which accompanies the lectures of Digital System Design, consists of hands-on Labs. In this course, students use EDA design software tools (Quartus II) to develop VHDL-based designs on FPGA and test the real system implementation on the DE2 platform, which consists of a CYCLONE II FPGA, clock oscillators and lots of peripherals. Course Descriptions: This course contains three major domains. The first part is through the introduction of the basic business concept, further leads to the related fields of business activities, step by step building the fundamental theory of the business, business and overall environment and the relationship between industrial ecology then proposes a structure concept about business operating system, corporate governance and business growth. The second part is taking value creation as the core concept, aiming at conducting a systematic discussion about every business operating functions and reinforce the discussion of the interactive relationship between every business operating functions for the purpose of enforcing the concept of business operation integration. The last part is to conduct a in-depth discussion about international business operations and issues like sustainable operations.
