Key to course types

Campus Course Students meet with instructor on campus. Online Course Students meet with instructor using GoToTraining for an E-live meeting. It may also require participation at the Residential Institute. Blended Course Blended course means that online and residential students take it together. Online students will participate in course meetings as always via GoToTraining joining residential students and course instructor gathered on campus. Hybrid Course A hybrid format is a course format that combines online learning with a residential session schedule different from the traditional residential courses that meet once a week throughout the trimester. Hybrid formats may include sessions on select weekends or sessions that meet more intensively for one or two weeks. Hybrid formats enable us to offer courses at times that may be more convenient for some students, to bring in visiting professors who may be otherwise occupied during the trimester and allows some of our distance students to participate in residential classes. Please read the course description and note the class format and the dates the class will meet residentially. Attendance at these residential sessions is mandatory.

Hybrid course details CARM/D 6644 Consulting with Leaders in Organizational Conflict - Dr. Neil Katz This “field-work” based course will equip you and add value to your future consulting work by giving you the framework and tools to help you and your organizational clients make sense of complex organizational and interpersonal conflicts before taking action. During the 2 ½ day mandatory residential class during the February R.I., students will master a very effective and popular diagnostic model to utilize in their partnership work with an organizational client facing a difficult challenge in their leadership role. The “field-work” assignment can take place at a site of your choice, allowing both residential and distance students to take the course with a commitment to attend the residential 2 ½ day session and a willingness to do high quality professional consulting work. CARM/D 6657 Conflict Coaching Theory and Practice - Dr. Judith McKay This practice course will introduce you to the skills and theories of an increasingly popular conflict intervention process. Conflict coaching is being used by organizations and small businesses to improve employee satisfaction and productivity. Conflict coaches may have their own businesses working individually with clients seeking new ways to understand and respond to conflict in their professional and personal lives. The course integrates theory and practice to emphasize various stages including identity framework, narrative, needs assessment, goal setting, and feedback, utilizing a relational and systems orientation. The course develops coaching skills, strategies, and knowledge, and uses a practice-based approach. You will have the opportunity to serve as a coach. This hybrid course meets for a Friday evening and Saturday in January on campus or remotely for those at a distance and then meets on campus during RI. This highly interactive course will enable you to integrate the other practice skills you have learned.
