Azizol Bin Ahmad

Penang State Director of Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia (IRBM)

Encik Azizol graduated from University Malaya in 1986 and has over 28 years of experience with the

IRBM. He served the IRBM Ipoh Branch from 2002 to 2004 as Deputy Principal Director. From 2006

to 2009, he was attached to the IRBM Raub Branch and Revenue Management Department.

He became the Director of Payment & Services Division, Revenue Collection Department from 2009

to 2017. Before he became Penang State Director on 1 June 2019, he was the Director of the

Wangsa Maju Branch from 2017 to 2019.

S. Saravana Kumar

Partner, Lee Hishammuddin Allen & Gledhill

Saravana has appeared in benchmark litigations with a sizeable volume of wins in tax disputes.

Praised for his ability to “think outside the box” and “innovative approach” in interpreting the law,

Chambers Asia Pacific 2016 acknowledged Saravana for being “dynamic, efficient and helpful”.

Meanwhile, Chambers Asia Pacific 2017 commented that clients have remarked, “His tax knowledge is

very in-depth and he is fast at responding.”

Saravana is an Adjunct Professor with Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN) and chairs the Taxation

Dato’ Seri Wong Siew Hai

Chairman of Malaysian American Electronics Industry

Chairman of Electrical & Electronics Productivity Nexus

Dato’ Seri Wong Siew Hai has 29 years of working experience in the electronics industry. He served

Intel for most of his illustrious career and retired from Intel after 27 years of service. His last position

with Intel was Vice President of Technology and Manufacturing Group (TMG) and General Manager

of Assembly and Test Manufacturing (ATM).

Currently, Dato' Seri Wong is involved in the electronics industry as the Chairman of MAEI (Malaysian

American Electronics Industry) and Chairman of the E&E Productivity Nexus (EEPN). He is a Board

member of the Penang Tech Centre Bhd and Penang Science Cluster Bhd. With the full support of

the Penang State Government, he pioneered the setup of Tech Dome Penang.

He served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Malaysian External Trade Development

Corporation (MATRADE), under the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) for 12 years

and was Chair of its audit committee.

Dato’ Seri was awarded the ASEAN Outstanding Engineering Achievement Award by the ASEAN

Federation of Engineering Organizations in 2015.

Dr. Irwan Shah Zainal Abidin

Associate Professor of Economics

School of Economics, Finance and Banking (SEFB)

Universiti Utara Malaysia

Dr. Irwan Shah Zainal Abidin is an associate professor of economics and former Director of the

Asian Research Institute of Banking and Finance at Universiti Utara Malaysia. His research interests

include International Trade, Development Economics, Islamic Finance, and Malaysian Economic

History. He is a recipient of the National Book Award of Malaysia and an Op-Ed columnist in the New

Straits Times. He has served as Visiting Research Fellow in Islamic Finance at the Oxford Centre for

Islamic Studies, Oxford University.

Kim Chin Kuang

Kim graduated with a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Derby, United

Kingdom and is a Bachelor in Accounting from Universiti Utara Malaysia. He is a registered

chartered accountant with the Malaysian Institute of Accountants. He started his career in Ernst &

Young and Kingston Technology.

Kim joined Jabil in 2008 and is currently the Vice President of Global Business Services at Jabil,

based in Penang, Malaysia. He is responsible for the operations and the growth of one of the

largest shared services centers in Jabil. His team of more than 500 employees across the globe

support more than 200,000 Jabil employees worldwide, around the clock.

A keen advocate of issues related to the shared services industry, Kim is currently the chairman of

the Malaysia GBS Focus Group, an industry-driven community dedicated to strengthening the

position of Malaysia as a choice location for the GBS industry. He is also Honorary Chairman of the

Malaysian Institute of Accountants (northern region) and Industry Advisor for University of Tunku

Abdul Rahman and INTI International Universities and Colleges.

Sim Kwang Gek

Country Tax Leader

Kwang Gek is the Malaysia Tax Leader and Malaysia M&A tax practice leader. She has over 21 years of

experience in tax with extensive experience in advising local and multinational companies on inbound and

outbound investments, restructuring of operations, mergers and acquisitions, incentive evaluation and

applications, regulatory applications to various government agencies, establishment of businesses in

Malaysia, as well as managing the tax compliance affairs of a portfolio of clients. Kwang Gek is listed in the

Women in Tax Leaders Guide for Malaysia by the International Tax Review.

Tan Hooi Beng

Deputy Tax Leader

Hooi Beng leads the International Tax service line and has more than 21 years of experience in corporate

and international tax. He has vast experience in advising multinational corporations on corporate

structuring and restructuring, mergers and acquisitions, international offshore financial centres, business

model optimisation, tax treaties and cross-border taxation generally. An avid writer and speaker, he

regularly contributes thought leadership content in print media and takes part in speaking engagements.

Hooi Beng has been listed in the current edition of “The World’s Leading Tax Advisers” (Euromoney).

Mark Chan

Financial Services Industry Executive Director

Mark brings with him over 15 years of experience in the public accounting practice and commercial sector

in corporate and GST compliance and advisory. As a tax consultant, Mark has served insurance clients in

all corporate tax related matters including tax compliance, dispute resolution, tax advisory, mergers and

acquisitions and tax due diligence. As a former in-house tax advisor to a local banking group and a

Malaysian headquartered global conglomerate, Mark also oversaw the income tax compliance, tax review

for new products and GST risk management for insurance entities in the respective groups which

included entities in life insurance, general insurance, family takaful and general takaful. Mark also served

as a member of the GST technical committee of the Chartered Tax Institute of Malaysia as a private sector

representative and represented life and general insurance companies at industry association

deliberations.

Ng Lan Kheng

Business Tax Executive Director

Lan Kheng has more than 21 years of experience in advisory and consultancy on direct and indirect

taxes including GST implementation, transfer pricing, tax investigation and tax due diligence services.

She has also advised on individual tax planning and compliance matters, as well as immigration

solutions for international employees.

Tan Wei Chuan

Transfer Pricing Director

Wei Chuan has more than 16 years of experience in corporate tax compliance matters, tax

planning, tax due diligence, tax audit, transfer pricing, indirect taxes including GST

implementation, personal tax planning and compliance matters.

Au Yeong Pui Nee

Global Employer Services Director

Pui Nee has more than 15 years of experience in taxation. Her specialisation is in Malaysian

individual tax planning and compliance services for international assignees under the Global

Employer Services (GES) service line.

Subhabrata Dasgupta

Transfer Pricing Executive Director

Subharata Dasgupta is an Executive Director in the Transfer Pricing service line of Deloitte

Malaysia. He has extensive experience working for Deloitte’s network of offices in Asia, the EMEA

and the Americas on global and regional transfer pricing documentation and planning

engagements. Subha has more than 12 years of experience in serving clients from varied

industries: electronics and electrical, pharmaceuticals, real estate and construction, financial

services, telecommunications, oil and gas, primary and secondary metal manufacturing, agri-

business, and aerospace and defence, among others. Currently, he is leading the TP Technology

offerings from Deloitte in Malaysia. Subha holds Bachelor of Commerce and Master of Commerce

degrees from the University of Calcutta (India).

Tan Eng Yew

Indirect Tax Leader

Eng Yew has over 21 years of experience in the areas of customs, excise, sales, service tax and GST.

He currently advises clients on various indirect tax matters, including impact on proposed

transactions, indirect tax reviews and due diligence and client representation with the relevant tax

authorities. He has also represented clients in various disputes before the customs authorities and

before the Customs Appeal Tribunal. Eng Yew actively contributes to Chartered Tax Institute of

Malaysia (CTIM) and is currently a member of the CTIM’s Technical and Public Practice Committee,

Examination Committee and also GST committee. Eng Yew is also recognised as an Indirect Tax and

Tax Controversy Leader by the International Tax Review.
