Assemblies are held every morning to remind us the value of prayer and to present indi- vidual’s talent in front of the audience.We like to keep our children up to date with all the occasions and festivals. Our Special assemblies are very presentable in this regard. Teachers’ Day Celebration Teacher’s day celebration was held on September5’18 with full of excitement. Senior boys and girls organized the assembly in such a great way that it stole the hearts of all the staff members.Enjoyful and entertaining games were organized for the teachers. After assembly, a football match was organized between staff and our super youngsters to make the show more attractive. Our Direcrtor Mr JS Yuhana was the special eye witness of the match. It was really a wonderful experience for all the staff members and they are really thankful to the children to make their day memorable. Janamashtami Celebration Janamashtmi, is the birthday of lord Krishna which was celebrated on September1’18 with great devotion and enthusiasm in DPS, Sangrur. It was really a treat to the eyes to see kids in Radha Krishna attires.They danced so well in the assembly that they mesmerized everybody present there. A melodious song was sung by the choir which was the centre of attraction for all the students and teachers. Beautiful decoration was put up to make this event more cheerful and colourful.A ‘matki phod’ event was also organized to mark the mischievous nature of ‘Bal Gopal’.The students mesmerized everybody with their great performances. ‘Krishna Jhoola’ was the main attraction in the assembly.The teacher coordinator thanked Principal and Director who made the event such a success. The programme was ended with the National Anthem.

SPECIAL ASSEMBLIES

Assembly is a gathering of the students and the teachers at a particular place.

Assemblies are held every morning to remind us the value of prayer and to present indi-

vidual’s talent in front of the audience.We like to keep our children up to date with all the

occasions and festivals. Our Special assemblies are very presentable in this regard.

Teachers’ Day Celebration

Teacher’s day celebration was held on September5’18 with full of excitement. Senior

Dussehra Celebration

Keeping the festive mood in mind DPS, Sangrur celebrated Dussehra on October18’18 with full spirit and enthusi-

asm. Various activities were part of the celebration. The assembly was organized specially by class 3 kids in which

they mesmerized everybody. Since Dussehra is a celebration of victory according to the Hindu mythology, tiny tots

were dressed in Lord Rama, Sita and Laxmana. A small play was shown about the victory of good over evil. A

speech was delivered by class 3 kid in a very nice manner. A Punjabi poem was recited enthusiastically by class 9

boy. Prize distribution of sports activities was also taken place. It was really an eye opening show.

KINDERGARTEN ACTIVITIES

Dussehra Celebration

Dussehra was celebrated on October18’18 in DPS,Sangrur with lot of fun and fervour. They made beautiful paper

effigies with the help of their teachers with colourful sheets and decorative material. There was limitless fun and

excitement in the premises. The teachers could see the happiness on their kids’ faces. Teachers also told their

tiny tots the importance of this festival.

Janamashtami Celebration

Janamashtmi celebration was held on September1’18 in DPS,Sangrur with great zeal and pomp. Tiny stars came

in as Krishan and Radha and other outfits.They were looking so cute and awesome in their attires. Boys were

holding flutes in their hands. Stage was decorated colourfully with depicting the ‘Krishna Jhoola’.Kids were looking

happy to celebrate this festival. Importance of the festival was told by their teachers. Little angels danced on few

songs of Radha Krishna. They were praised by all for their mesmerized performances.

Fun Paayjama Party

A very unique programme was organized by our kindergarten that is ‘Fun Pajama party’ which was held on

October1’18. Young children can experience bedtime fun in the classroom by participating in pajama party

activities. It encourages friendship among them and they enjoy a lot. Keeping this in mind it was held in our school

by kindergarten section. They all arrived at school in their favourite pair of pajamas. Classes were decorated by

the teachers in a very entertaining way. It included games,activites,dance and snacks. They brought their favourite

teddies and dolls. Their activity area was a ‘free space zone’. They acted like sleeping,getting up, brushing and

bathing.Teachers’ full participation could be seen. They enjoyed a lot along with their kids. It was a full fun day for

everybody.

C.B.S.E CLUSTER TOURNAMENTS SPORTS

“ All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy”

This proverb is totally true and to make Jack an active boy sports have an impor-

tant role. Sports are a necessary part of students’ life. No doubt education has become

important these days in this competitive word but without sports it is impossible to get a

healthy mind. Following this thought DPS Sangrur is organizing various sports event not only

at school level but at zone, district and state level.

1. Our football team(under 17) participated in CBSE Cluster Football Tournament held at

Fathebad from Sept. 28 to Sept. 30,2018 and got third position.

2. Our table tennis teams(under 14) participated in CBSE Cluster Table Tennis Tournament

held at Amritsar from Sept.27 to Sept.30,2018. Our girls team won gold medal and selected

for National. Our boys team won bronze medal.

3.Our basketball teams(Boys and Girls under 17) participated in CBSE Cluster Basketball

Tournament held at Patiala from Oct.1 to Oct.4,2018 .

C.B.S.E NORTH ZONE CHAMPIONSHIP

1. Our five students participated in CBSE North Zone Swimming Competition held at

Pathankot

2. Our nine students participated in CBSE North Zone Taekwondo Competition held at

Chandigarh from Oct.5 to Oct.8 ,2018

3. Our twelve students participated in CBSE North Zone Roller Skating Competition held at

Ajnala (Amritsar) from Oct.4 to oct.7,2018 .

INTER DPS FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT

This tournament was held at Faridabad(DPS Faridabad)from Oct.11 to Oct.13 and our foot-

ball team participated in it.

OPEN DISTRICT TAEKWONDO CHAMPIONSHIP This championship was held at Dhuri from Oct.25 to Oct.27,2018.Our following students won

medals:

1. A Rollar Skating Competition was held at Amritsar from Oct.28 to Oct.30,2018. Our student Gurnoor Kaur(class III) won gold medal and Vaasu Garg (IV) won silver medal and both qualified for National.

INTER HOUSE COMPETITIONS

Inter House Elocution Competition Elocution is a skill of clear and expressive speech, especially of distinct pronunciation and articulation. It is a skill used by many people who must speak in public or as part of their job. Proper elocution involves speaking clearly with a neutral accent. Inter –House Elocution Competitions were held in DPS Sangrur in various languages among different divisions to give an open platform to students to speak and enhance their confidence level. Inter House Debate Competition A debate is a discussion about a subject on which people have different views. It is a formal discussion in which people express different opinions about a particular subject and then vote on it. In a formal debating contest there are rules for participants to discuss and decide on differences within a framework defining how they will do it .Inter-House Debate Competitions were held in DPS Sangrur in various languages among senior and middle divisions. The students actively took participate and showed their best thoughts and argued on best points. Results are as follow:-

Inter House Drama Competition Drama is the specific mode of fiction represented in performance: a play, opera, mime, ballet etc.performed in theatre. It is a composition intended to portray life or character or to tell a story usually involving conflicts and emotions through action and dialogue and typically designed for theatrical perform-ance. To inculcate such values among the students DPS Sangrur organized an Inter House Drama Competition in which participated whole heartedly and showed their abilities to perform well. Result is as follows:-
