Welcome and thanks for registering to Reimagine Education Conference and Awards 2017- the “Oscars of Higher Education”. The fourth edition of our elite educational forum brings together academics, ed tech innovators, investors, policy-makers and teachers, seeking to shape the future of education.

With the current challenges facing the higher education sector, identifying and acknowledging educational thought-leaders transforming teaching, learning, and employability outcomes has become vital; thus, the conference provides an elite forum for these different but co-dependent parties to come together and reimagine education for the world’s students and teachers.

The conference will take place on December 4th and 5th in the Grand Ballroom on the 5th floor of the Philadelphia Marriott Downtown Hotel, located in 1201 Market St, Philadelphia, PA 19107.

How to get there

By Train

The closest airport to the venue is the Philadelphia International Airport – PHL, located 10 miles from the hotel.

To go from the airport to the hotel, you can get the SEPTA train service which costs 8 USD (one way). Trains run every 30 minutes and operate from 4:52 am to 11:52 pm (Center City to Airport) and from 5:07 am to 12:30 am (Airport to Center City). The closest train station to the hotel is Jefferson Station.

Please note that Marriot Downtown Hotel does not provide shuttle service.

By Taxi

You can also take a taxi from the airport to the hotel. The estimated fare is 30 USD (one way).

Driving

If driving to the hotel from the airport, please follow the instructions below:

Travel east from the airport. Take the ramp for PA-291 East and continue to exit 13 to merge onto PA-291 East toward Interstate 76 West/Valley Forge. Turn left onto South 26th Street. Take the ramp onto Interstate 76 West. Follow Interstate 76 West to exit 344 to merge onto Interstate 676 East/US-30 East toward Central Philadelphia. Take the exit for Broad Street/Central Philadelphia. Make a slight left onto Vine Street. Keep right at the fork in the road and turn right onto North 12th Street. Proceed to Market Street and turn right to the hotel.

Please note that the cost of valet parking is USD 53.90 per day, and limited onsite parking during special events and weekends costs USD 63.70.

Please note that delegates must wear their badges at all time to gain access to the presentations.

The conference starts at 7:00am on Monday 4th December and finishes at 6:00pm. After the conference, a Networking Drinks Reception will be hosted from 6:30pm-8:00pm.

On Tuesday 5th December, the conference starts at 7:00am and finishes at 6:30pm, followed by the Gala Dinner-Awards Ceremony.

Please note that whilst every attempt will be made to deliver this conference as advertised, please be aware that events beyond our control may lead to unavoidable changes to the program or schedule. The final agenda will be provided during the on-site registration.

PROGRAM DETAILS

Taking place on Tuesday 5th December from 6:30pm to 10:00pm, the Gala Dinner will be hosted in the Benjamin Franklin National Memorial, located in the rotunda of The Franklin Institute Science Museum, 18 minutes walking from the Marriot Downtown Hotel, or 10 minutes by bus from Market St & 12th Station to 20th St & Race Station. The address of the Memorial is 222 N 20th St, Philadelphia, PA 19103.

Inspired by the Roman Pantheon, the Memorial is home to a 20-foot statue of Benjamin Franklin, which rises beneath an 82-foot domed ceiling and gold gilded oculus.

DIETARY REQUIREMENTS

VISA

During both days of the event, complimentary tea, coffee and other refreshments will be available on arrival, as well as morning and afternoon conference breaks and lunch.

Lunch will consist of a hot/cold buffet.

Vegetarian options will be provided. If you have any other special dietary requirements please email us at least two weeks before the event so we can cater for you.

During the day, the dress code for the event will be Business Attire, while for the Gala Dinner – Awards Ceremony, the dress code will be Evening Attire.

Delegates are advised to check the latest visa requirements for traveling to the United States with the consulates located in their own country. QS can supply a visa invitation letter if required. Please email us with the name of your institution, full name, title, and passport number of the delegate.

ABOUT PHILADELPHIA

Located in southeastern Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, or ‘Philly’ as it’s affectionately known, is the state’s largest city and the fifth largest in the United States. Home of the Declaration of Independence and the Liberty Bell—and the first capital of the United States—Philadelphia has one of the nation’s greatest concentrations of historic sites, which play a major role in attracting millions of visitors to the city every year.

Main Sights: Public transportation includes buses, trolleys, subways, and commuter trains. Bus lines include the PHLASH Bus service, which makes a loop through many of the downtown’s major commercial and cultural sites. The main touristic sites of the city include The Liberty Bell Centre, The Independence Hall, The Philadelphia Museum of Art, The Franklin Institute, and Rittenhouse Square.

Interesting Facts: Philadelphia is home of the Philadelphia Stock Exchange, the oldest such exchange in the United States of America, founded in 1790; and is also where the first American Flag was designed, sewn by Betsy Ross out of her humble upholstery shop.

Average Temperature: The month of December is characterized by falling daily high temperatures, with daily highs decreasing from 10°C to -1°C over the course of the month.
