● Say: Welcome to Kids’ Club, we’re so glad you’re here! We want this to be a safe and fun place for you. To do that, we all need commit to doing a few SUPER important things! Let’s watch a video to help remind us what those things are!

● Say: This month, we’re celebrating Christmas in all kinds of fun ways! Let’s start off with a fun Christmas movie clip about the Grinch, who is NOT very excited about Christmas….

presents! I’m glad we love Christmas here in Kids’ Club, which is why we celebrate it for the whole month of December! Let’s check out another video, and see how the Christmas story really happened, starting with two people named Mary and Joseph…

● Roll of tape (1/group)

● Give each group a Ziploc bag full of the following materials: ○ Roll of green streamers○ Roll of tape○ 30 ornament stickers○ 10 pieces of ribbon○ 1 star

● Each group must choose one person to be the “tree” and the rest of the kids will be the tree decorators.

● When the leader says “Go!”, each group gets to start wrapping/taping/hanging the materials on the tree in any way they want! Encourage kids to get creative as they try and figure out how to make a person look like a tree!

● Tips:○ Younger kids may need an adult to hold the tape and help them hang the ornaments. You

could also just give them green streamers to make someone look like a “pine tree”!○ Leaders should help make sure all the kids get turns to help decorate. ○ Collect and discard the materials when you’re done.

● Each group gets a Ziploc bag with the following materials:

NATIVITY SCENE | 10 Minutes

● Say: Let’s show our excitement for Christmas by creating our own Nativity scenes! ● Break kids into groups of 6 and give each group a large sheet of tear off paper and markers

(this smaller group size will ensure that all kids have enough to do).● Each member of the group should decide which parts of the Nativity they want to draw. Here are

the basic elements of the scene of Jesus’ birth (review these with kids to give them ideas):○ Mary, Joseph, baby Jesus, three wise men, shepherds, angels, donkeys, cows, sheep,

etc.○ They can have a manger for baby Jesus, hay, (shelter, like a barn or cave), stars, etc.

● Let kids work together and create their scene! After each group is finished, tape the nativity scenes up on the walls around the room!

2 Corinthians 9:15

Play the 10-Second Countdown to redirect kids attention to Large Group.

● Say: How many of you look forward to spending time with family at Christmas? (Let kids respond.) That is also exactly how God feels about you! All people who follow Jesus are in God’s family, and he gets really excited about spending time with his family.

● Say: How many of you look forward to presents for Christmas? Well God LOVES to give us gifts, and Jesus was the best gift he could think of. Jesus came to be the rescuer, to forgive us for all the wrong choices that we make. He wanted to show us how much God loves us, and teach us how to trust him.

● Say: Here’s a special verse we’re learning this month. It’s from a book of the Bible called “Corinthians”, and it was originally a letter that Paul wrote to a church full of people who needed encouragement! Let’s check it out.

● Slide: 2 Corinthians 9:15: Give thanks to God for this gift that is too wonderful for words!

● Say: Jesus is the best gift we’ve ever received. He’s so wonderful, that there simply aren’t enough words to describe it! His birth was the most unexpected way a king could come into the world, but it was exactly as God planned it.

● Ask: What is worship? (Let kids respond.) Yep, it’s basically when you give all your time and energy and attention to something. So when we worship Jesus, that’s what we’re doing! We’re celebrating him, and giving him all of our energy and attention.

● Say: We can sing to him, tell him how much we love him, and express it out loud. We can also focus on him, and spend time with him, just like we would focus on someone at their birthday!

● Say: Let’s worship with a song some of you might know….you can stay seated and watch, or get up and dance! Then we’ll have another song with lots of fun motions!

the world and saving us. Help us to be closer to you, and worship you always. Amen!

WORSHIP AND RESPOND | 5 Minutes

● Why did God send Jesus to earth? ● What different kinds of people got to hear about Jesus’ birth? How did they show their

excitement?● What were some of the things that made Jesus’ birth a little strange/unexpected? (He was born

outside with animals, his parents were regular people, shepherds were the first to find out about him.)

● Why do you think Jesus was born as a baby outside, instead of like a king? (God does things differently! He wanted Jesus to be like us and experience life as we do; Jesus was not a “regular” king.)

● Tell kids that it’s Jesus’ birthday, so we’re going to celebrate! First, we’ll all sign a birthday card to Jesus.

○ Get out the poster board, markers, and party hats.○ Fold the poster board in half and write “Happy Birthday Jesus!” on the front.○ Open it up and let each kid write their name inside, along with any other messages,

pictures or decorations they want to draw.● After the birthday card is finished, hand each kid a party hat and sing “Happy Birthday” to Jesus

as a group! ● If there’s time, play a “party game” as if you were at a real party: Have kids act out different

“birthday” things, like eating cake, opening presents, singing, playing games, throwing confetti, blowing up balloons, etc. Let the other kids guess what’s being acted out!

● Tip: You can let kids wear their hats for the rest of their hour, OR collect them, and pass them out again at small group (if they’re too distracting).
