Niemann Foods, Inc. (217-221-5600) may open a County Market grocery store in a former Auburn Market site at Harmon’s Plaza, located in Auburn, IL. The company currently operates 65 supermarkets and convenience stores throughout IA, IL and MO under the Country Market, Country Market Express, Cub Foods and Save-A-Lot trade names.

Tesco Plc (310-384-3833) plans to open two Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Market stores in the San Jose, CA area. The company plans to open a store in a portion of a former Albertson’s located along Bird Avenue in Willow Glen, CA, and also plans to open an 8,000 sq.ft. store in a portion of a former Safeway located along Almaden Road in San Jose. The stores are slated to open later this year or during 2011. The company currently operates 130 stores throughout southern CA.

Kohl’s Corp. (262-703-7000) will open a 93,000 sq.ft. Kohl’s department store at the site of a former Walmart located along West Belt Line Road in Collinsville, IL. The store is slated to open during October or November. The company currently operates 1,059 units nationwide throughout 49 states.

Panera Bread Co. (314-633-7100) will open a Panera Bread restaurant at Watters Creek at Montgomery Farm, a mixed-use center located along Garden Park Drive in Allen, TX, later this year. Also expected to open at the center during the early part of this year are Nestle Toll House Café and Fine Cigars. The tenants join Borders, DSW, Sephora, P.F. Chang’s, The Cheesecake Factory and Apricot Lane.

Hy-Vee, Inc. (515-267-2800) plans to open a 68,000 sq.ft. Hy-Vee Food Store along West Broadway in Council Bluffs, IA during the fall. The company expects the supermarket to replace an existing 40,000 sq.ft. store located along North 16th Street in Council Bluffs. The opening will introduce a new concept for the company and will feature produce and floral departments relocated to the front of the store, revamped and expanded bakery and meat departments and an expanded prepared food section, offering Italian and Chinese food selections along with a salad bar, soup bar and a deli station.

Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. (479-273-4000) will open a Sam’s Club store at Rushmore Crossing, located in Rapid City, SD.

Sprouts Farmers Market, LLC (480-814-8016) plans to open a Sprouts Farmers Market in a former Circuit City site located in Greeley, CO. The company plans to open the store before April.

Aldi, Inc. (630-879-8100) plans to open an Aldi grocery store at the intersection of Ft. Worth Avenue and Jacqueline Drive in Oak Cliff, TX during 2011.
