Gospel Reflection
"Who does he think he is?" and
"She's just too much!" are
common complaints used to belittle others. When Jesus first returned to Nazareth and preached in the local synagogue, his audience was amazed. They could not believe
that one who had grown up in their midst could be such an outstanding teacher and healer. Perhaps they envied and feared the power they sensed in him. Because of their refusal to believe, Jesus could work few miracles among them. He understood that a prophet is not honored in his own hometown. So he moved on to other villages where
the people welcomed him.
We welcome Fr. Dan Scheetz who will be celebrating
Mass for us this morning. Father Jarett, our new pastor,
is on family vacation until July 7. His first Mass here
will be July 12th.
Coffee, rolls and conversation following
Mass this morning hosted by the parish.
Everyone is invited.
Thursday evening rosary and prayers
at 7:00 pm in the sacristy.
Thanks to all who helped mow and trim at the cemetery
this past week. Also to those who maintain the church
grounds. Your time and effort are greatly appreciated!
As the family goes, so goes the nation and so goes the whole world in which we live. ..St. John Paul II
JULY 5TH, 2015 ~ FOURTEENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
The Sisters of Charity of Nazareth (SCNs) will be here
next weekend to share SCN Family stories. Charlotte
Hazas, SCN Associate will speak on behalf of the SCN
ministries which began in the U.S. in 1812, expanding to
India in 1947, Belize in 1975, Nepal in 1979 and Botswana
in 2000. The Sisters of Charity of Nazareth founded in
Nelson County Kentucky in 1812, through their ministries
of healthcare, education and social service carry the
message of Christ’s love for those in need throughout the
world. A special collection will be taken up to support the
Sisters in their ministry to the victimized, oppressed and
marginalized internationally. We know that, as always, you
will be as generous as you can.
>>> Attention Parents <<< Religious Education Program
At this time a decision has been made to offer CCD for
grades 1st - 6
th. Students in 7
th & 8
th grades would have to
attend in Hays for Confirmation Class. It is our intention
to keep our program here in our parish, but we need
your help. Substitute teachers needed to help
occasionally. Please contact Kolleen Dome (650-9981) if
you have questions or are interested in helping.
We the bishops of Kansas are deeply disappointed by yesterday’s Supreme Court decision, though sadly not surprised. While the government may control the issuing of marriage certificates, marriage remains unchangeably a coming together of the male and the female for their good, the good of children, and the good of society. This reality cannot be altered by legislator or judge. We encourage all people of good will to pray for our country and to support a culture of marriage that will help restore respect for God’s plan for the family. (June 27, 2015)

A Family Perspective …by Bud Ozar Today’s gospel is so familiar, it hurts! The home town folks couldn’t accept the presence of God in Jesus. After all, they had watched him grow up. We can easily make the same mistake if we don’t see God present in the ordinary routines of our family. “The Lord be with you” is a statement of fact. Believe it. Live it.
