Greetings in the Name of the Lord! May the Christmas season fill your homes with joy, your hearts with love and your lives with a magnificent new year!

The Spring Retreat is rapidly approaching, and a wonderful program is planned for Saturday, January 19, 2019 at Springfield Gardens UMC, 131-29 Farmers Blvd., closing with Holy Communion. The topic will be: “Vision, Mission and Passion in Ministry”, based on Philippians 2: 5-11. This is a time for us to come together as one, to be reenergized with uplifting worship and insightful message and to support one-another in koinonia after a very challenging year in many areas of our lives.

Please be reminded that attendance at retreats is REQUIRED for all students who are enrolled in the onsite program. ALL students are required to attend and remain until the program is over. The Retreat is a vital part of the curriculum. Your attendance to the retreat will be recorded into your transcript as Pass (if you attend) or No Credit (if you do not attend). It is of the utmost importance that you make the necessary arrangements to be present at this retreat.

If for some reason you will not be able to attend you will be required to submit a 3-5-page paper on the topic of the retreat, to the Director no later than March. 30th. Failure to submit the paper will result in the student not receiving his/her grades until the paper is submitted.

Registration will begin at 7:45am at Springfield Gardens UMC (driving directions included). The retreat begins at 8 am with continental breakfast. Students are responsible for $15.00 CASH Retreat Seminar Fee to offset the cost of materials for the retreat. This fee will be payable at the registration table on the day of the retreat. Hot breakfast and lunch will be provided.

Please be advised that some of the colleges NYTS has transfer credit agreements with will be present at the retreat for those who would like to continue their academic studies at the Bachelor level, among them College of New Rochelle, Pillar and Suny Old Westbury Colleges.

Ball four the ring company as well as Blessed Moments, photo company will be on premises. Bring your credit card/check or cash should you take the graduation picture and or order your graduation ring in advance. A graduation Exit Interview will be conducted to those candidates for graduation (see end of this document).

All students who have completed the 10 courses of the CP curriculum or will complete them in Spring 2019, have no Incompletes or missing grades, and have all their finances in order, are candidates for graduation in May 2019. Graduation is on Saturday, May 18, 2019.

Please complete the Graduation Application form and email it directly to Dr. Yvonne Salaman at: [email protected] along with the Graduation fee of $235 which is due on January 15, 2019. You may call Dr. Wanda Lang, Students Accounts Coordinator at 212-870-1219 to pay your graduation fee. The Ceremony is Saturday, May 18, 2019 from 9am-12pm. The ceremony begins at 10 am at Riverside Church, Riverside Dr. & W. 120-121 St.

Candidates will receive ten (10) invitations for their guests.

Graduating Candidates MUST arrive by 9:00 am at Riverside Church (enter through 91 Claremont Ave.) and gather to robe, be placed in respective processional formation, and receive instructions. Guests enter on Riverside Drive & W. 120-121 St. Doors open 9am.

NO family or guests will be allowed in the candidate gathering area. Please leave your purses/coats/personal belongings with someone from your family BEFORE you go into the

candidate gathering area.  There is NO coat-check and NO security in the gathering area; (you will not be allowed to process with purses, bags etc.).

The ceremony will begin promptly at 10 am and lasts approximately 2 – 2 1/2 hours. After the ceremony ends ALL graduates MUST go back to the gathering area to receive their diplomas and have

class graduation pictures taken.  This process takes about a half hour. Please, plan in advance with family and friends to wait for you at a designated area.  They will NOT be allowed in the candidate gathering area.

We will inform you by a post on Moodle Site News when the graduation attire and invitations arrive. Please pick up your vestments and invitations as soon as possible after the arrival date. You may pick them up yourself or designate someone to pick them up for you. There is a limit of Ten (10) invitations for family and friends per graduating student. These are invitations; NOT tickets. You do not need one to enter the ceremony.

The Graduate’s Reception is on Thursday, May 16, 2019 (6-8 pm) at the Interchurch Center (enter through 61 Claremont Ave. & W. 120 St. between Broadway & Riverside Drive). Light refreshments will be served. All candidates for graduation are allowed 1 guest. You must respond to the NYTS RECEPTIONIST by EMAIL to [email protected] by May 15, 2017 to put your name on the list.

Candidates for graduation in ALL programs must read, sign and return the following NYTS Graduation Requirements statement to the Office of the Registrar. In addition, candidates in master’s degree programs (MA/MDiv) must also contact their Advisor and make an appointment to undergo a degree audit.

Students who have “Incomplete” grades on their transcript will NOT be allowed to apply for graduation until those “Incomplete” grades are cleared; no later than January 15th of the year they intend to graduate.

ALL potential candidates for graduation must sign and date the statement and submit the form to the Registrar’s Office no later than Jan. 15 th of the year they intend to graduate. All students must pay the required graduation fee no later than Jan. 15 th of the year they intend to graduate. Failure to return this form to the Registrar's Office by Jan. 15 of the year they intend to graduate may result in exclusion from graduation.

NYTS GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS:

“All academic requirements must be completed, and all financial obligations must be met prior to a candidate's participation in the graduation exercises. Candidates who do not fulfill these requirements by April 15 may not have their names printed in the graduation bulletin. Those who fail to meet such requirements by April 30 may not be allowed to participate in the Commencement exercises.

Upon fulfillment of these requirements, such candidates may be granted their degree at a regularly scheduled meeting of the Board of Trustees during the following fall or winter, with a letter stating such action sent to the candidate for verification. The candidate will then be invited to march in the commencement exercises the following May.”

Saludos en el nombre de nuestro Señor Jesus! Que el gozo de la Navidad llene sus hogares y corazones de amor y paz y que tengan un 2019 bendecido!

El Retiro de Primavera se aproxima rápidamente – Sábado 19 de Enero del 2019, de 8am a 4pm. Estamos haciendo los preparativos con anticipación para este evento tan maravilloso. El retiro es una oportunidad para congregarnos como un solo cuerpo para adorar a Dios, quien nos ha llamado a todos a Su servicio. Es de vital importancia para nosotros que usted haga los arreglos necesarios para estar presente en este retiro.

Le recordamos que la asistencia a los retiros es un requisito del programa para todo estudiantes en el programa. Los estudiantes que no puedan asistir al retiro se les requiere que escriban un reporte de 3-5 páginas basado sobre el tema del retiro: Vision, Mision y Pasion en el Ministerio basado en Filipenses 5 : 2-9 el cual debe ser enviado a no mas tardar de Marzo 30. La asistencia al retiro será incluida en su archivo académico con nota de “P” (Pasó; si asiste al retiro) o “NC” (No Crédito; si no asiste al retiro y no entrega la asignacion).

La registración para el retiro empezará a las 7:45 am en Springfield Gaerdens UMC, 131-29 Farmers Blvd in Springfield Gardens, NY. (Ver instrucciones de como llegar a este lugar). EL retiro empieza a las 8am con un desayuno ligero. El estudiante es responsable por una cuota de $15.00 en efectivo (cash) la cual sera cobrada en la mesa de registración. Esta cuota es para sufragar costos y materiales del retiro.

Tenga presente que en el retiro habrá representación de College of New Rochelle y Pillar para aquellos estudiantes que deseen continuar con sus estudios académicos en estas instituciones quienes le darán créditos por el Programa de Certificado. También estarán la Compania Balfour vendiendo anillos de graduación ; se requiere un depósito $75 de si desea ordenar su anillo. La compania Blessed Moments Photo estara presente para tomar las fotos de graduación. Se requiere un depósito. Tambien se estará llevando a cabo una Entrevista de Graduación en grupo a aquellos candidatos a graduarse en Mayo 2019. (Ver última página).

Todo estudiante que haya completado los 10 cursos del currículo o los vaya a completar en el semestre de primavera 2019, que no tengan Incompletos, o le falten grados y tengan sus finanzas en orden, son candidatos a graduación. La graduación es el sábado 18 de mayo del 2019.

Por favor complete el formulario de Graduación y envíelo vía email a la Dra. Yvonne Salaman a: [email protected] junto con el honorario de graduación de $235 el cual vence el 15 de enero del 2019. Puede llamar a la Dra. Wanda Lang, Coordinadora de Cuentas de los Estudiantes al 212-870-1219 si desea pagar con tarjeta de débito/crédito. La ceremonia es el sábado 18 de mayo del 2019 de 9am a 12pm. La ceremonia comienza a las 10am en la Iglesia Riverside (Riverside Dr. & W. 120-121 St.).

Los candidatos a graduación recibirán diez (10) invitaciones para sus invitados.

Los candidatos a graduación TIENEN que llegar a las 9am a la Iglesia Riverside (entre por el 19 de Claremont Ave) y reúnase para ponerse la vestimenta de graduación, ser posicionados en formación para procesionar y recibir instrucciones. Los invitados entran por el Riverside Drive & W. 120-121 St. Puertas abren a las 9am.

NINGUN miembro de la familia o invitado será admitido al área donde se reúne el candidato. Por favor deje sus bolsos, abrigos y pertenencias personales con alguien de su familia ANTES que usted entre al

área de reunión. NO HABRA estación de chequeo de sus abrigos y NO hay seguridad en el área de reunión. No les permite marchar con bolsos, carteras, etc.).

La ceremonia comenzara a las 10 am y dura aproximadamente de 2 a 2 horas y media. Luego de terminar la ceremonia TODOS los graduados TIENEN que regresar al área de reunión o asamblea a

recibir sus diplomas y a tomarse la foto de graduación de la clase lo cual dura como media hora aproximadamente. Por favor hagan arreglos con su familia y amistades para esperar por usted en un lugar designado. A ellos NO les será permitido entrar en el lugar de reunión del graduado.

We will inform you by a post on Moodle Site News when the graduation attire and invitations arrive. Please pick up your vestments and invitations as soon as possible after the arrival date. You may pick them up yourself or designate someone to pick them up for you. There is a limit of Ten (10) invitations for family and friends per graduating student. These are invitations; NOT tickets. You do not need one to enter the ceremony.

The Graduate’s Reception is on Thursday, May 16, 2019 (6-8 pm) at the Interchurch Center (enter through 61 Claremont Ave. & W. 120 St. between Broadway & Riverside Drive). Light refreshments will be served. All candidates for graduation are allowed 1 guest. You must respond to the NYTS RECEPTIONIST by EMAIL to [email protected] by May 15, 2017 to put your name on the list.
