Activities:STEPST&L ACTIVITIES FORMATIVE EVALUATION NOTES TEACHING AIDS

A. Opening Activities

1. Teacher enter to class on time. 2. Teacher greets and prepare the lesson.3. Teacher prepare physically condition of students in order to ready for joining learning process.a. Teacher checks the attendance list.b. Teacher asks students to prepare the tools which are used for learning.4. Teacher delivers the title of main material which want to be explained and writes on the white board.

5. Teacher delivers the learning objectives.6. Teacher motivates students.B. Core Activities1. Teacher introduces the topic by giving an example in the form of conversation.2. Teacher guides students to identify sentences which can be determine the truth value and not.

3. Teacher guides students to find the meaning of statement.4. Teacher shows some examples which are not math statement.5. Teacher asks students to construct true or false math statement that contains word only; numbers and words; or numbers and math symbol.6. Teacher gives some examples which are constructed using the quantifier all and some.7. Teacher gives understanding about quantifier.8. Teacher asks students for determining the truth value of those kinds of examples.9. Teacher gives understanding about generalising statements using the quantifier all.10. Teacher asks students for constructing true statements using quantifier.11. Teacher performs some examples about operations involving the words not or no then introduces it as negation.12. Teacher guides students for making truth table of negation.13. Teacher performs some examples about operations involving the words and and or then introduces it as compound statement.14. Teacher guides students for making truth table of compound statement using and.15. Teacher guides students for making truth table of compound statement using or.16. Teacher gives quiz to students to be done individually then collects it.

C. Closing Activity

1. Students and teacher make the conclusion together. Then, choose some students for presenting it.2. Teacher gives homework.

3. Students are given motivation to learn again the material and always share when there is any difficulties.

4. Do the reflection about the activity which has done.

5. Teacher presents about the next meeting.

6. Teacher closes the lesson punctually. Please do following problems individually.

a. Determine whether the following statements are true or false?

One of roots of x2 +2 x 8 is prime or even number. ( marks :20) A right angle-triangle follows a Pythagoras theorem and has area formula is x base x height( marks :20)

b. Construct a statement using quantifiers and determine the truth value. (marks :10)

Ive heard conversations between two students in this morning.A : What was you do in last night?

B : I studied math about triangle.

A : Hmm.. I remember that triangle has 3 sides.

B : Yes, you are right. How clever you are! Please determine whether we can determine the truth value each sentence or not.A statement is a sentence that is either true or false but not both.

The following are not

statements:

Is the place value of digit 9 in 1928 hundreds?

45 m + 2n = 100

Add the two numbers.

Please construct true or false math statement that contains word only; numbers and words; or numbers and math symbol in examples are :a. An empty set has an element.

b. 25 is not prime number.

c. 52 + 12 > 35.

Let see my sentences : All the prime numbers have 1 and itself as the factors.

Some whole numbers are negative numbers

Quantifiers are words that indicate the number of objects or cases referred to in a statement.

The quantifier all refers to each and every object or case.

The quantifier some refers to one or more objects or cases.Quantifiers such as every and any can be introduced

based on context.

Students, please determine the truth value of those kinds of examples.Example : A square has four right angles.

The statement can be generalised as All squares have four right angles. Trapezium is a quadrilateral. The statement cant be generalised as All quadrilateral is trapezium.Example : All squares are four sided figures.

Every square is a four sided figure.

Any square is a four sided figure.

Some even numbers are divisible by 4.

All is used if each and every object has the property stated.

Some is used if there exist one or more objects that do not have the property stated.Example : Not all of prime numbers are odd numbers.

There is no quadrilateral which has sum of interior angles is 180o.

The negation no can be used where appropriate. The symbol ~ (tilde) denotes negation.

~p denotes negation of p which means not p or no p.

The truth table for p and ~p are as follows:

P~p

True

False

False

Example : A cuboids and cube have 6 sides. The amount of days in leap year is 365 or 366 days?

The truth values for p and q are as follows:
