• Principal Investigator for a collaborative research program on “Religion, Public Policy and Social Transformation in Southeast Asia” (2013-2017) involving nine countries (Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines, Cambodia, Myanmar and USA), funded by the Henry Luce Foundation. Completing a three-part Book Series on “Managing Religious Diversity in Southeast Asia”, “Religion, Identity and Gender in Southeast Asia” and “Religion in the Public Sphere in Southeast Asia” with Geneva-based Globethics.

PASSIONS & PERSONAL INTERESTS Dr. Sofjan is an avid traveler, and has visited and lived in almost 30 countries of the world. He listens to music (classic, opera, pop), plays scrabble, chess and the guitar. He also plays badminton, tennis, table tennis and billiards. He swims almost everyday, and was previously a Karateka, winning a medal in Jakarta in the field of Kumite (combat fighting). Dr. Sofjan is also a PADI Certified Advanced Diver, who has conducted logged dives in Komodo National Park, Derawan (East Kalimantan), Raja Ampat (West Papua) and Gili Trawangan (Lombok).
