JOB DESCRIPTIONS
Principal – Diane Newbern
Provide instructional leadership for the school.
Coordinate the supervision of the entire school staff.
Coordinate financial services, including budget preparation.
Assist in the development and coordination of master timetable.
Approve assemblies, overnight field trips, fund-raising, student activities, and staff development
activities.
Coordinate the mentor and ILT program.
Conduct observations, conferences, and evaluations of school personnel. Initiate improvements
where needed.
Coordinate staff development and professional growth.
Serve as LEA Representative and coordinate exceptional children’s programs.
Coordinate the school testing program.
Supervise maintenance of buildings and grounds, including supervision and evaluation of
custodial staff.
Coordinate inventory control, receiving freight, and disposal of surplus property.
Oversee grading and grade reporting and submit required reports to the central office.
Implement emergency drills (fire, lockdown, and tornado) and maintain records.

Serve as the financial officer for the school.

Receive and deposit all moneys collected by the school; maintain daily, monthly, and yearly
records of all financial transactions. Issue receipts and receipt books.
Coordinate budget with principal and process all budget records and requests.
Process payroll for the entire school staff, excluding cafeteria staff (AS 400 entries: leave and
comp time).
Process orders for all supplies and materials (teachers, administration, etc.) ordered through both
purchase orders and warehouse requests by individual teachers. Input for e-procurement orders.
Process all insurance and Workman’s Compensation Claims.
Process all leave forms and paperwork.
Manage AESPO data.
Assist substitutes with timekeeper, sign in, filing, keys and lesson plans.

Utilizing leadership, advocacy and collaboration, school counselors promote student

implementing a comprehensive school counseling program that addresses academic,
career, and personal/social development for all students.
Assist students in the areas of personal-social growth, educational planning, and career and
vocational development.
Provide individual and group counseling services to meet the developmental, preventive, and
remedial needs of students.
Consult with students, parents, teachers, and other school and community personnel to assist in
meeting the needs of students.
Serve as the liaison with the Department of Social Services for cases of suspected child abuse
and/or neglect.

Classroom:
Support the instructional program by performing assigned tasks, including but not limited to:

graduation info, senior class webpage, etc.)

School Social Worker – Alysia Bailey-Mizelle
Empower students, families, and school personnel to access available opportunities and resources
that develop each student's potential, including:
home, school, community assimilation;
diversity and cultural competence;
dropout prevention;
graduation awareness.
Adhere to federal and state statutes, professional development and practices, School Social Work
Standards and the National Association of Social Workers Code of Ethics.
Effectively and appropriately assess and address the needs, characteristics, and interactions of
students, families, LEA personnel, and community.
Use knowledge and understanding of the reciprocal influences of home, school, and community
to intervene for student success via such practices as assessment, crisis intervention and response,
home visits, conflict resolution, individual and group counseling, consultation, program
development, dropout prevention, graduation awareness, and coordination of school and
community services.
Advocate for appropriate services for students and their families.
Consult and collaborate with stakeholders on behalf of students and their families.
Effectively plan, implement, and evaluate programs that promote student and family success.
Advocate, facilitate, and contribute to School Social Worker accountability for outcomes aligned
with local, state, and federal policies and guidelines.
Serve as the 504 Coordinator.

This handbook provides a general overview of the policies and procedures for Currituck
County High School. It is not designed to be a complete nor comprehensive guide. It is
designed to address standards, expectations, and procedures for staff members. Topics are
arranged in alphabetical order. Revisions and updates may be published throughout the
year. If questions arise about items that are not addressed, please ask.
All Currituck County School employees are responsible for being knowledgeable of and complying with
the Currituck County School Board of Education Policies, which may be viewed on-line at
www.currituck.k12.nc.us.
All state and federal policies supersede any rule, policy, or procedure that may be printed in this
handbook.
ABC’s and Accountability
Teachers are expected to become familiar with BOE Policy #3420 Student Accountability for Academic
Achievement and their responsibilities.
Announcements
Announcements will scroll throughout the day via the media retrieval system. The media retrieval system
will be used to continually display announcements. All announcements must be turned in to the office the
day before for inclusion in the next day’s display.
Assemblies
Assemblies may be held throughout the school year. Students will report to the assembly with a teacher
and will remain under the direct supervision of that teacher during the entire assembly. Teachers should
sit with their students or find an area in or near the bleachers to assist with supervision. For
assemblies involving the entire student body, all staff members should report to the assembly to
assist with the supervision of students. When an assembly is over, each teacher is to see that his/her
students return to class in an orderly manner.
Attendance/Absences
All staff members will sign in on Timekeeper daily. However, certified staff will be required to clock out.
This procedure is required to ensure that there are IRS compliant attendance records as well as to ensure
that pay checks and leave balances are accurate.
It is expected that staff members be in attendance every day. Remember: you are essential to the success
of our students and our school program. In the event that you must use leave, it is expected that the
absence is entered into AESOP or that leave forms be filled out and submitted to Mrs. Newbern as soon
as possible.
Teachers are expected to provide appropriate and applicable lesson plans for each absence. Emergency
plans should be submitted to your assigned assistant principal by August 31st.
Please be reminded that Currituck County Schools requires documentation for sick leave starting
on the 4th
consecutive day out of work. Additionally, please be advised that the employer has the
right to ask for documentation on any absence, even it it is only one day.

LEAVE MATTERS
Certified Staff:
To use leave: put your leave needs in the AESOP system. AESOP will call and assign subs. You
must put yourself in AESOP before 6:00 each morning. If you do not put yourself in AESOP in a
timely manner, you must call Mrs Newbern so she can find a sub for you.
Non Certified:
If you are set up in AESOP, because you require a sub: put your leave needs in AESOP as the
Certified Staff above. If you did not put yourself in AESOP on time, then a form is required.
Fill out your leave form and submit to Mrs Newbern for signature.
Leave Forms:
If you put yourself in AESOP, you do not need to fill out a leave form. If you did not put
yourself in AESOP on time, then a form is required. Fill out your leave form and submit to Mrs
Newbern for signature.
LEAVE Paperwork and Question Flow:
All leave forms will be given to Mrs. Newbern for signature and then she will give them to
___________________________ to process. ______________________________ will prepare
the daily leave and Aesop reports and give them to Mrs. Davenport to pay the subs and charge
your leave.
If you have any questions about your leave usage, paycheck, etc….you should see Mrs
Davenport so she can research her records.
NON DAYS
There are two non-days built into the school calendar in case of snow/hurricane. If we do not
have to use these as make-up days:
10 month employees do not have to work those days.
11/12 month employees have to work or take leave those days.

Budget and Purchasing
MONEY MATTERS $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Checks are NOT cut here at the school. Jackie Davenport must prepare a purchase order , and
submit your invoice, receipts or packing slips with the original you get to request a check from
Central Office Finance. Then the check is cut.
Finance has to request funds from the bank; therefore, finance cuts checks approximately every
two weeks….depending on leave and holidays….so to ensure you receive a check on time,
please submit your request two weeks in advance of your need.
BATTERIES: Mrs Davenport keeps a minimum amount of batteries in her office to
be used in items like tv remotes and calculators….
STAFF ONLY may pick them up.
CANDY: Candy sales are permitted only before and after school.
NO candy sales during the school day. (Also any appearance of selling candy by
carrying candy box around during the day must be avoided: keep them in locker or car.)
FIELD TRIPS: When giving your students an amount to pay for a field trip ,
be sure to include ALL costs and taxes. Do not forget to calculate the $10.00 an hour fee
for your bus driver and the $1.67 per mile Activity Bus Fee. Request your field trip
checks two weeks prior to departure.
FUND-RAISING: Any fund-raising activity must have prior approval from Mrs.
Newbern. Fill out and turn in a fund-raising request to her; she will submit a copy to the
superintendent for approval. All fund-raising activities must be supervised by an
authorized staff member.
GAS/Mileage:
If county car is NOT available: 56.5 cents per mile
If you elect to drive personal car: 30.0 cents per mile

Note: There are no meals for day trips unless you leave before 6am

ORDERING SUPPLIES/EQUIPMENT – ANYTHING:
ALL items ordered MUST be put on a purchase order PRIOR to purchase.
Even a company that you “just called in” numerous times each year and they billed you in the
past. Just calling a company and getting an invoice is considered unauthorized use of state
funds and is against board policy.
PURCHASE ORDERS: When you wish to purchase an item and find the company/catalog
…you must fill out a purchase order request (these are found in the front office and on the wall
by the bookkeeper office door) …be sure to ask the company about shipping costs and include
these fees. NC sales tax is currently 6.75 %... both merchandise and the shipping/handling must
be taxed.
Have your administrator sign the PO and give it to Mrs. Davenport to submit.
You will receive a copy with the PO number for your records. DO NOT fax this to the company.
Finance office faxes it automatically and you may duplicate your order.
When you receive your order, OPEN it IMMEDIATELY,
Check that you received what you ordered, sign the packing slip or invoice and give it to Mrs
Davenport to pay the bill. Finance requires the paperwork within 24 hours of merchandise
receipt.
RECEIPT BOOKS
ALL money received by a school employee is to be recorded in an assigned, pre-numbered
receipt book supplied by Mrs Davenport. The original receipt is to be given to the person paying
and the copy remains in the receipt book for your records.
(If you VOID a receipt, leave both the original and copy in the receipt book.)
If a student pays with a check….write the receipt to the NAME ON THE CHECK…and put the
student’s name as a note (should a refund be requested, the receipt must match the check
referenced.)
REIMBURSEMENTS
No Reimbursements are authorized.
Do Not purchase anything and expect to be reimbursed. You must purchase needed items
through Purchase Orders or the Walmart Card.
If you need to reimburse a student/parent for an item sold (such as, yearbook, a field trip ticket, )
Provide Mrs. Davenport with a memo or email explaining why the student/parent needs
reimbursement and a copy of the receipt showing their payment.

STAFF DEVELOPMENT/ASSIGNED TRIP:
TWO WEEKS IN ADVANCE:
1. Fill out a Staff Dev. - School Sponsored Trip Payment Request
(in the front office-on wall). Turn in the signed original to __________.
IF your trip was put in SEA System….print out a copy for ______________ in
case ____ did not get the email.
2. As you fill out the form, it will prompt you to fill out others:
Substitute: # of days? You must put these days in Aesop.
Mileage: a) county car? Secure one through “Trip Direct”.
b) personal car? Fill out a travel form.
Include a mapquest printout of your mileage from the
school to your destination.
Room: make your hotel reservations, attach your email confirmation
to your PO request and give to Mrs Davenport to request the
hotel check while awaiting the original.
Meals: on the same form with your mileage, include meals.
Skip any meals provided by the event. Attach your meal/mileage sheet to a PO
request and give to Mrs Davenport.
Registration: Attach your registration paperwork to a PO request &
include an itinerary and give to Mrs Davenport to process
STAMPS
If you have school business, general letters to mail – Please put them in the “TO BE
MAILED” space behind Mrs Porr’s desk. She will stamp them.
If you have a specialty mailing and need a large number of stamps… fill out a Purchase
Order and give Mrs Davenport to submit your order. It takes TWO WEEKS to get a
check cut for the post office …. AND the Postmaster has to order the stamps from
Raleigh.
SUPPLIES
Individual teachers will not receive supply money. Each department will receive money
for supplies. Departments are encouraged to work together and come up with fresh ideas
to share and spend smarter.
TURNING IN MONEY
Turn in money collected daily to Jackie Davenport.
She will stop taking money each day at 3:00, so she can prepare the bank deposit.
Bring your money, your receipt book and a deposit/fee sheet
Money should be separated and counted.
Be prepared to wait as it is counted and verified.

Please put your money, deposit sheet and receipt book in the
Tamper-proof bags, seal and give to Mrs. Newbern or an administrator
(the tamper proof bags are in the front office – on wall)
WALMART CARD
You may sign out the Walmart card at any time to purchase
supplies. Purchases must be under $100 per trip.
Signed receipts and the Walmart card should be returned the next
day.
How To Deposit Money
1. Receipt ALL money received from students and parents
2. Separate money in like bunches….ones together, fives together, tens together,
checks together….. etc. Separate coins: pennies separate, dimes…. It helps to
have sandwich baggies for this.
3. Count and total the money…..
4. Fill out a Fee/Deposit Sheet with your name, the date, and the
Amount of money on the line beside the fund you want it deposited in.
5. Bring the fee sheet, the money, and your receipt book to Jackie Davenport in Room
A-17.
6. Jackie must count the money in your presence and then write you a receipt.

Cafeteria
All purchases are a la carte and “cash and carry.” Staff members will not be allowed to charge.
Classroom Attendance – Daily
Enter period attendance electronically in PowerSchool within the first 15 minutes of the class period.
Classroom Maintenance
At the end of each day, teachers are to check the room for general cleanliness. Have students
pick up the waste paper and straighten the furniture. Doors to classrooms not in use should be
closed at all times. At the end of the day, it is the classroom teacher’s responsibility to shut down
computers, turn off the lights, and make sure the door is locked before leaving.
Classrooms will be ventilated and maintained in accordance with good health practices. If you have a
problem with the temperature in your room, notify the office and maintenance will be contacted. Do not
call maintenance directly!
Any staff member remaining in the building after the building has been secured for the day
should make sure that doors lock upon exiting the building.
Classroom Management: Safe and Civil Schools Initiatives
All staff will be expected to implement positive behavior strategies. Teachers should exercise good
judgment in managing classroom behavior. “Be firm but fair” and “Praise in Public and Censure in
Private.” From Harry K. Wong’s: The First Days of School: How to Be an Effective Teacher:
The teacher is responsible for organizing a well-managed classroom where students can learn in a
task-oriented environment.
The Characteristics of a Well-managed Classroom
1. Students are deeply involved with their work, especially with academic, teacher-
led instruction.
2. Students know what is expected of them and are generally successful.
3. There is relatively little wasted time, confusion, or disruption.
4. The climate of the classroom is work-oriented, but relaxed and pleasant.

Every staff member has the right to expect respect from the students in this building, and each has
the responsibility to model respect to students. In the view of most children, respect is a two-way
street, and if they feel that an adult is getting in their face or backing them in a corner, they usually
respond in a disrespectful manner. Sometimes adults must demonstrate respect, even if undeserved,
to students. Each staff member has the responsibility to administer consequences to effect a behavior
change; however, it is important to do so in a respectful manner. Characteristics of respectfully
administered consequences are:
The teacher’s voice level is relatively quiet.
The student is not criticized; the behavior is the target not the student.
Sarcasm is avoided.
The teacher models self-control; i.e. the teacher does not appear to be angry or exasperated.
The teacher’s facial expressions and body language are assertive not hostile.

If you find yourself in a situation that you are unable to handle in this manner, please call for an
administrator to intervene promptly. We want to support you in any way that we can.
Confiscated Items
If you confiscate an item from a student, please make sure that you secure it. If you are not
returning the item to the student at the end of the day, you must contact the parent immediately and
turn the item into an administrator: make sure the item is labeled.
If proper procedures are not followed, replacement of any confiscated item that is lost or stolen will
be the responsibility of the teacher/staff member who took the item.
Dress Code
Staff members are expected to dress professionally as this presents a positive role model for students.
Standards set in BOE Policy #7340 must be followed. In an effort to promote school spirit, jeans (nice
looking) may be worn on Fridays with Knights “spirit wear” for Red and White Day.
Emergency Absences
If a staff member needs to leave campus unexpectedly during the day, approval of the principal or
designee must be secured. Occasionally, because teachers have to leave unexpectedly during the school
day or because substitutes are unavailable, it is necessary to ask other teachers to “cover” classes. All
coverage will be approved by an administrator.
Emergency/Crisis Situations
Each staff member is expected to attend a Crisis Training workshop annually and to review and become
familiar with the information outlined in the Currituck County Schools Emergency/Crisis Guide.
Evaluations and Observations
Teacher and staff observations and evaluations will be conducted in accordance with the policy for the
teacher evaluation process established by the North Carolina State Board of Education and adopted by the
Currituck County Board of Education. The evaluation process is online.
All staff will be evaluated annually (as a minimum standard).
Faculty/Staff Meetings
Mondays should be reserved for staff meetings.
The 1st Monday of each month will be designated for PBIS Team meetings. The 2
nd Monday of each
month will be designated for School Improvement Team meetings The 3rd
Monday of each month will be
designated for faculty/staff meetings; all teachers and teacher assistants are expected to attend. RTI/SAT
meetings will be scheduled for the 4th Monday of each month.

Field Trips
All trips should support, through enrichment, the North Carolina Standard Course of Study. Approval for
field trips will be managed through Trip Direct. After approval by the principal/assistant principal, the
superintendent will approve or disapprove all trips.
Vehicles/Buses for field trips should be secured using the Trip Direct system at least
2 weeks in advance.
When students are asked to pay for a field trip, be sure to include all of the costs, including the taxes and
the bus driver(s) pay and $1.67 per mile for use of the activity bus. Checks for field trips must be
requested Two Weeks prior to the date of the trip.
Overnight field trip requests must be submitted two months in advance because these trips require Board
of Education approval. For overnight field trips, request an ORIGINAL INVOICE/RESERVATION
for any tickets and/or hotel rooms.
Food/Drinks/Coffee
Please refrain from eating/drinking (other than water) in your room during instructional time (model
expectations for students).
Grading
Grading is governed by BOE Policy #3400/3400R. Grades must be entered into PowerSchool. It is
expected that grades be posted in no less than a 2 week turnaround. It is important that you make sure that
the grades are weighted correctly in the system. Each semester, teachers must submit to their assigned
Assistant Principal, a prep detail report from PowerSchool. This report must match grading standards set
forth in the course syllabus and comply with district standards.
Leave (Annual, Sick, Personal)
Use your leave wisely. Annual leave in excess of 30 days as of July 1st is rolled over to sick leave. At
retirement accrued sick leave is credited toward service.
Inclement Weather Codes and Procedures
School Closed to Students/Open to Staff
Staff may choose to report to work for a workday (6 hours) if travel conditions permit.
Staff may remain at home if hazardous conditions exist and choose on of the following options:
o Annual leave
o Personal leave
o No pay
o Make-up time agreed to by principal/supervisor and employee
o Time not made up by year’s end will be charged to annual leave
o Staff may use accumulated comp-time

Future teacher workday is converted to a student day.
School Closed to Students and Staff
Students and staff do not report to school due to hazardous conditions.
This day is deleted from the calendar.
A new day is added to the calendar or a Non-day is used, if available.
There is no make-up provision as above.
Staff members are required to work on the scheduled make-up day.
Internet
Staff members should refer to Currituck County Board of Education Policies 3325, 4312, and 7320 for
guidelines on use of the Internet access and school computers.
Each teacher is responsible for monitoring students’ use of the internet within the guidelines
specified in Currituck County Board of Education Policy for “Student Acceptable Use.”
Lesson Plans
Each teacher should have lesson plans outlining activities/objectives for each day. Teachers are
encouraged to post daily/weekly lessons, homework, activities and other informational items on the
teacher webpage.
Classroom teachers are expected to keep two substitute folders prepared:
1. EMERGENCY SUBSTITUTE FOLDER - to be kept on file in the main office.
Emergency plans should be turned in to your assigned assistant principal by August 31st.
It should include:
a. Daily Schedule Form
b. Class Rolls and Seating Charts
c. Lesson Plans and Instructional Activities relevant to the course objectives that could be
used anytime for several days.
d. Rules and procedures
e. Do not try to explain lesson plans over the phone.
2. REGULAR SUBSTITUTE FOLDER (yellow folder) - to be left on the teacher’s desk
for planned absences. It should include:
a. Daily Schedule Form
b. Class Rolls and Seating Charts
c. Current, on-going lesson plans which are specifically sequenced and include
appropriate homework assignments for the next day.

Faculty & Staff Mailboxes:
Assigned mailboxes will be located in the teacher’s lounge. Because memos, phone messages, etc.
are placed there throughout the day, mailboxes should be checked regularly. All teachers are to
check their mailboxes each morning and afternoon. Unless a message is urgent, messages are not
delivered to classrooms. All teachers are to check their mailboxes each morning and afternoon.
Teachers are not to send students to the lounge to pick up mail.
U.S.: Mail is picked up in the main office daily. The school address should not be used for private
correspondence and billing accounts.
Intersystem: School system correspondence is also picked up in the office daily.
Monthly Calendar
A monthly calendar listing upcoming events will be maintained on our school’s website. Please submit
information for all scheduled activities to Mrs. Porr as soon as possible. For district level events, check
the master calendar posted on the district home page.
Parking
Designated areas for staff parking are the spaces in front of the school, adjacent to the gym,
adjacent to the bus lot and the gravel parking lot at the back of the school. Do not park on the
grass or sidewalks.
Pets
Staff members should not bring pets on campus. Prior approval must be secured before bringing
animals into the building for instructional purposes.

Professional Standards
All employees are expected to conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times. It is
important that students view you as a professional. All staff members at CCHS are professionals and
are expected to appear and conduct themselves as such. We will adhere to the Currituck County Board of
Education Policy #7305 Professional Standards. It is important that all employees follow the highest
standards of ethical behavior and maintain confidentiality of information related to students and/or other
employees. Also, while in the presence of students, parents, or the public, we will address each other by
the proper appellation.
Progress Reports and Report Cards
Interim progress reports should be given to every student at the midpoint of each nine weeks.
Interim reports should go out the during the following weeks:

Reports and Record Keeping
All reports and records should be neat, accurate and submitted in a timely manner. It is expected
that due dates be met.
Safety
Student Injury/Illness
Any student illness or accident that occurs during school hours or at school sponsored events
should be reported as soon as possible to the nurse and principal/designee.
Do not move an injured student.
When, in the judgment of the person in charge, a pupil is injured to the extent that, or becomes so
ill that it is a critical situation requiring immediate attention, the person in charge must render

whatever aide or assistance is necessary in order to preserve the well-being of the pupil. Parents
or guardians are to be notified as soon as possible.
When it is impossible to locate or report to parents or guardians, the person in charge must use
his/her best judgment as to the proper procedure to follow in the situation. The office staff or
nurse will make every reasonable attempt to notify the parent or guardian.
If a situation arises that requires the type of attention spelled out above, make sure that the other
students are properly supervised.
If an ambulance is needed, an administrator or the nurse will make the request.
The person in charge is to maintain a constant vigil over the injured or ill student.
School Hours
All employees are expected to be punctual. Chronic tardiness and early departures are not
acceptable. In the event of tardiness or a need to leave early, the principal or designee should be
notified.
Regular School Day:
The regular school day hours for teachers are 7:35 a.m. until 3:20 p.m.
All teachers and assistants should report by 7:35 a.m. All instructional personnel are to be
outside their doorway at 7:45 a.m. and supervise students as they enter the building and
classrooms.
Employees may leave at 3:20 p.m. if professional obligations for the day have been fulfilled.
Teachers are expected to attend Open House, graduation and some special activities (athletic
events, arts performances, awards/recognition nights).
Early Release Day: Students will be dismissed at 12:30 p.m. Staff members are expected to work regular hours. If the
early release is scheduled on the last day before a holiday, staff members may leave at 1:00 p.m.
Teacher Workday:
Teachers are required to work from 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. excluding lunch. If a lunch
break is taken, it is expected that the time will be made up. On workdays, please sign in
and out in the main office. Any exceptions to these hours must have prior approval from
the principal or designee. When staff development activities are scheduled, the hours will
be extended to 3:30 p.m. and include a scheduled lunch break. If you leave campus
during the workday, please check out at the main office and check-in upon your
return.
Classified employees:
Employees must work 8 hours per day; 40 hours per week. Prior approval of the principal is required
for earning comp time.
School Property
School property should not be labeled with personal names or room numbers. If there is a need for
labeling, please use a temporary method.

Staff Lounge and Teacher Workrooms
The lounge is designed to be a place where staff members can “take a break.” Teacher workrooms are
designed for a workplace for staff. Students are NOT allowed in the lounge or teacher workrooms at any
time for any reason.
Staff Development SEA System will be used for registration for staff development opportunities. In order to receive CEU
credit for activities, the follow-up surveys generated by SEA System must be completed.
Student Attendance, Absences, and Tardies
Teachers must adhere to PowerSchool standards and procedures for recording absences for each period.
Absences are excused or unexcused according to state guidelines. A note signed by the parent or guardian
citing the reason for the absence should be turned in to the office within two days of the student’s return
to school. Teachers should encourage students to bring in the notes promptly.
Supervision of Students
It is expected that all staff assist with supervision of students. Monitoring the halls and bathrooms
reduces the potential for discipline/safety concerns. Staff members will be assigned morning, afternoon
and/or Power Hour (lunch) duties. All staff members will monitor the halls during class changes.
Supplies
There are some “odds and ends” in the supply cabinet. If you need an item, please ask and if available,
you may have it. However, in an attempt to avoid setting students up for temptation, items will not be
given to students, so please do not send a student to the office to pick up your supplies.
Student School Day
The instructional day for students begins at 8:05 a.m. and ends at 3:05 p.m.
Students will be admitted to the building at 7:45 a.m. and may report to the cafetorium if eating breakfast;
otherwise they should go to their lockers, if needed, and report to their first bell class.
At the end of the day, students should be dismissed on the 3:05 bell. As a senior privilege, seniors may be
dismissed at 3:00 p.m.
Syllabus
Each teacher is responsible for developing a syllabus and providing a copy for students and posting a
copy online. The syllabus should:
Give an overview of the course and essential objectives
List class rules, procedures and consequences
List supplies that students are expected to provide
States when major projects are due
Clearly explain grading policies
Provide contact information for the student/parents

Telephone Use
Except in an emergency, telephone calls received during the instructional day will be sent to voice mail.
Telephone calls during planning times will be forwarded to classrooms. All teachers should check their
voice mail daily.
A telephone call to a parent is a great communication tool; however, if the information is of a confidential
nature, please consider scheduling a conference.
Cell phones may be used on campus during planning and before/after school; however, they should not be
used to receive or make personal calls or text message during instructional time (model expectations for
students).
Testing
The Testing Coordinator will do the following:
1. Review testing calendar and establish the time frames for each test.
2. Assign Test Administrators and Proctors.
3. Obtain testing materials (Pencils, Paper, etc...)
4. Plan logistics of each test and monitor testing.
5. Distribute testing materials and supplies.
6. Collect testing materials.
7. Disseminate and discuss results with teachers, students, and
parents.
Provide instructions for filing individual and school reports and check for accuracy of
information.
Note: State testing regulations require that the manual and Testing Code of Ethics be reviewed for
each testing cycle.
