• Located on Travis Airforce Base in Northern California
• Travis is home to many military children from all walks of life
• Black Americans, Asians, Hispanics, and Caucasians
• Scandia Elementary is home to 570 students in Grades kindergarten through sixth.
• Scandia offers speech therapy, band, math coaching, and physiology to help student’s maintain his or he academic studies
The Uniqueness About Scandia
Scandia elementary is Unique because it is home to a military base. The
school educates students from all walks of life. Some students have lived and
travelled to many countries across the globe and most of their students are either
bilingual or trilingual. Scandia elementary is a very diverse school. Not only can
students learn but teachers can also, because of the different cultures of pupils
who attends.

• Operation Hero Program
• Helps students who experience temporary
• difficulties academically and socially
• Helps students cope with deployed parents
• Offers tutoring serveries for students
• Mentoring assistance
How Learning Experiences Reflect Culturally Relevant Pedagogy
“Scandia Elementary is committed to providing a comprehensive educational program in
a safe learning environment. Scandia’s mission is to have all students know, understand,
and be able to demonstrate proficiency of the grade level standards set forth by the State
of California and adopted by Travis Unified School District. The school strives to enhance
children's self-esteem, promote cooperation among the children and adults, and build
conflict resolution skills.”

How Scandia Promotes Creativity in the Classroom
• Teacher allows students to tell stories of the places they have lived
• Students will then use paint and create pictures of the story
• Allows students to celebrate none-traditional American holidays
• As students learn he or she can share their cultural experiences among peers
• Younger students also take nature walks to learn about plants/animals
• Afterwards students draw and paints pictures of what they learned

• Grange middle school is located in Fairfield, California
• The majority of Students attending Grange are Asians, Blacks, Hispanics, and a
few percentage of Caucasians and Indians
• Grange has about 800 students enrolled in grades 6th through 8th grade
• Grange middle is a Title One school
The Uniqueness About Grange Middle School
Grange Middle school is known for its Robotics Team. “The Grizzlybots
after-school robotics club at Grange meets weekly and competes in various VEX
Robotics competitions each year. Students design, build, program, and drive their
robots to complete the challenges of the VEX game. In addition to learning
valuable engineering skills, students gain life skills such as teamwork,
perseverance, communication, collaboration, project management, and critical
thinking.” (Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District, 2015).

• Implements computer skills to help students thrive academically
• Computer skills also prepares students for the real world
• Students prepares and takes tests via computer
• Students prepares PowerPoint presentations, types journals, essays, and learn
the basics concept of how to fill out job applications online
How Learning Experiences Reflect Culturally Relevant Pedagogy
The mission of Grange Middle School is to provide a transitional bridge
for students between elementary and high school that fosters academic, social,
and emotional growth, preparing all students for successful future roles in society.
(Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District, 2015) Therefore, students mature and
thrive academically in a way to prepare him or her the adult ahead.
How Grange Promotes Creativity in Classrooms
• Gmail accounts provided the beginning of the school year.
• Each child uses his or her account to forward essays and work completed to their instructors.
• Teachers also used student’s emails to provide feedback to students.
• By doing so provides students for the real world as the world we live in is computerized.
• Students also use his or Gmail account to complete Accelerated Reading testing which helps access his or her reading levels.

• Located outside of the gate of Travis, AFB in Northern, California
• Home to children from all walks of life, the majority military
• Home to about 700 students from grades 9th thru 12th
• Vanden is a very diverse school
• Most of the students are Hispanic, Asian, Black, and Caucasian
The Uniqueness About Vanden High
• The school is diverse and the majority of students are military dependents
• Many of the students and lived and attended school in various countries
• Vanden is known for its visual and performing arts school
• The school is also know for its drama, journalism, robotics and national honor
society clubs.
21th Century Skills of Vanden High
• Teachers implement collaborative tools such as Skype to help students with
homework.
• Implements video conferences with students for parents serving down range can stay
informed with their child’s academics
• Uses white boards to further discussion by watching academic approved videos on
YouTube
• Allows students to work in groups completing projects as this teaches him or her
teamwork

Vanden High School is a community building personal and academic
excellence, civic responsibility, and lifelong learning. Vanden expects school wide
learning results are to develop personal growth, academic proficiency, community
responsibility, and employability skills.

How Vanden Promotes Creativity Academically
• Teaches students how to collaborate ideas and apply them to every life
• Implements teamwork among students
• Encourage to use his or her critical thinking in completing projects
• Encourages students to work hard, never give up, and keep trying
• Prepares students for higher education
• Prepares seminars for upcoming graduates to help prepare them for the future
