Touch Football Congratulations to the girls touch football team who defeated Lithgow Public 2-1 in the fifth round of the PSSA Touch Football knockout. In a tightly contested game Lithgow lead for much of the game but with five minutes remaining CVPS were able to score and at the end of full time the game was locked up at one a piece. The game went into a drop off, with each team starting with five players and then after a minute of play another player comes off the field. Both teams got down to three players with play seesawing up and down the field. Eva Hurrell showed excellent speed to score the match-winning try, much to the delight of the team and parents. The team is through to the sixth round of the knockout and are one win away from making the Western region final. A big thank you to all of the parents who provided transport and excellent encouragement to the team throughout the game. A special mention goes to all of the girls who are in the touch football team. They are a very committed team who always attend training sessions, play with outstanding commitment and demonstrate excellent sportsmanship. Thanks Steve Armstrong

How might that look in the holidays? Well, it’s not too different to school:

Respectful – speak nicely to others, place waste in the correct bin

Safe – Move safely around your environment, be in the right place at the right time

Responsible Learner – Cooperate with others, take care of belongings

Doing these things will ensure we have a fun, relaxing and safe holiday break. Mudgee High School Rainbow Day Year 6 students will attend Mudgee High School this Thursday for their annual Rainbow Day, with funds raised going to NALAG and Lifeskills Plus. This is a wonderful tradition of Mudgee High and CVPS is delighted to be supporting this initiative again. Year 4 Myuna Bay Excursion Year 4 students have an early start to Term 4 as they travel to Myuna Bay Sport and Recreation Centre for their annual excursion. Children need to be at school by 5.40am on Monday, 15

th October in order to board the

buses and leave on time. All the best to the students and teachers, we know you’ll have a wonderful time and make lasting memories at camp. Multisport Gymnastics Our gymnastics program begins on the first day back next term. Run by the instructors from Dance Fever Multisport, students will be involved in fun and engaging gymnastics activities each Monday of Term 4. Cost is $16 per child and is due this Friday, 28

th September.

Children may wear sports uniform each Monday. Invictus Games An expression of interest to attend the Invictus Games went home to Stage 3 students recently. As we have more interest than tickets available, this week students will complete a short writing task for selection. Entries will be judged on passion and reasons for attending. We will have more information on the excursion early next term. Planning and Assessment Days This week, all teachers are involved in stage-based planning and assessment days. As a result, some library and computer lessons have been restructured to assist in organisation. All children will have an opportunity to visit the Library and continue computer lessons this week, albeit on a different day to usual. These planning days are an important part of our School Plan of continuing to develop “a culture of excellence in practice”, as we strive to improve learning outcomes for all students. P&C News CVPS Golf Day – Sunday 20

th November

Our main fundraiser of the year will be held on Sunday 18

th November at the Mudgee Golf Club. Put the date in

your diary! We will be sharing our fabulous sponsors and donors over the next 2 months. The day will be a 4 person Ambrose starting at 9am. Great prizes to be won. Newcastle Permanent Support A reminder to CVPS families belonging to the Newcastle Permanent Introducer Program. This means if anyone takes out a home or business loan over $100 000 with Newcastle Permanent and mentions the CVPS P&C during their application, Newcastle Permanent will donate $600 to the P&C. How good is that! It can be for a new home or business or it can be for a loan you can be transferring from another institution. You also do not have to be a family of CVPS to qualify. Any person who mentions Cudgegong Valley Public School P&C will trigger the payment. So tell all your family and friends and workmates. If you know of anyone about to go through the loan process with Newcastle Permanent tell them to say our name! Imagine if we were mentioned 10 times in a year. That would be $6000 paid straight into our fundraising account and spent on our kids.

Kindergarten Excursion

Last Friday, Kindergarten went on an excursion to the Taronga Western Plains Zoo. We saw monkeys, zebras, lions, giraffes, elephants, meerkats, otters, tigers and lots of other animals. We ate recess and lunch while looking at the animals. We had zoo passports that we had to complete when we saw the animals. We had to find out what the animals ate or where they live. We also got our passports stamped each time. It was a nice sunny day and we had a fun and exciting time.
