small islands.

•(June 14, 1928 – October 9, 1967):Commonly known as Che Guevara, El Che was an Argentine-born Marxist revolutionary, political figure, and leader of Cuban and internationalist guerrillas.

•(December 7, 1934 – July 30, 1957):Was a Cuban revolutionary who campaigned for the overthrow of General Fulgencio Batista's government in Cuba.

•(born June 3, 1931): Is the Acting President/First Vice President of the Cuban Council of State. The younger brother of Cuban President Fidel Castro, second only to the Commander in Chief, Fidel Castro.

•(February 6, 1932 – October 28, 1959): Was a Cuban revolutionary born in Lawton, Havana City.

•(born 1918 in Yara, province of Oriente):Was a Cuban revolutionary who successfully overthrew General Fulgencio Batista with Fidel Castro, Che Guevara, Camilo Cienfuegos, Raúl Castro and members of the 26th of July Movement.•(May 9, 1920 – January 11, 1980): Was a participant of the Cuban Revolution and a close friend, and rumored lover of Fidel Castro.

1953July 26  Attacck on the Moncada barracks in Santiago de Cuba. October 16 Fidel Castro makes "History Will Absolve Me".

1954November Batista dissolves parliament and is elected constitutional president.

1955May Fidel released from.

1956November 25 Fidel Castro sets sail on the yacht Granma. December 2 Granma lands in Oriente Province.

1957January 17, Castro's guerrillas score their first success. March 13, Unsuccessful attack on the Presidential Palace in Havana. May 28 1957, Castro's 26th July movement in El Uvero. July 30 Cuban revolutionary Frank País is killed.

1958March 13 U.S. suspends shipments of arms to Batista's forces. March 17 Castro calls for a general revolt. April 9 A general strike is partially observed. May Batista sends an army of 10,000 into the Sierra Maestra November 1 A Cubana aircraft is hijacked by militants but crashes. December Guevara directs a rebel attack on Santa Clara December 28 Guevara's guerrilla troops seize Santa Clara. December 31 Camilo Cienfuegos leads revolutionary guerrillas to victory in Yaguajay.

1959January 1 President Batista resigns and flees the country. Fidel Castro's column appears.January 5 Manuel Urrutia named President of Cuba January 8 Fidel Castro speaks to crowds at Camp Columbia. February 16 Fidel Castro becomes Premier of Cuba.

•After the revolution, In May 17 of 1959, the new Cuban government enacted the first Agrarian Reform Law, putting a limit on land holdings and taking away the remainder with compensation

offered in 20-year fixed-term government bonds paying an annual interest rate of 4.5 percent

•Foreigners, many of the Americans, owned 75 percent of Cuba’s suitable farming land, including five U.S. sugar companies that owned or

controlled more than two million acres had benefited from these low taxes for

decades.
