especially from the specialities of Rasashastra & Bhaishajya Kalpana, M.Pharma. (Ayu)

have established their own production unit of Ayurveda and allied health care

products, which highlights the skill of entrepreneurship they received during their

training period. Many students from IIAPS have established their own pharmacy and

Ayurveda medical stores with success.

Page 28: CRITERION III : RESEARCH, CONSULTANCY AND … III.pdfCRITERION III : RESEARCH, CONSULTANCY AND EXTENSION 3.1 Promotion of Research 3.1.1 Does the university have a Research Committee

Institutes organize guest lectures by eminent alumni of the university, heads of leading

pharmaceutical companies etc. for instigating entrepreneurship skills among students.

Faculty members too are deputed to Entrepreneurship training programs at

Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India, Ahmedabad, who in turn train the

students.

Students of different constituent institutes are encouraged to organize scientific, cultural

and social programs by their own with guidance from faculty, which helps them to

develop social and communication skills.

Marine Bio Resources Center (MBRC) functioning within the university campus offer

ample of opportunities to research scholars in developing skills of operating the

modern bio technology instrumentations related to work at genomic and proteomic

level. The CSIR-IGEB sponsored Ayurgenomic research center at IPGT&RA too provide

such opportunity to the faculty and research scholars.

The bhasma preparation of Ayurveda pharmaceutics itself is a nano-science technology,

IPGT&RA a constituent institute of the university has carried out many outstanding

research works on Bhasma preparation in collaboration with IIT, Mumbai, SICART,

CCRAS, GENECARE, Ahmedabad etc. leading national research organizations. The

Pharmacognosy Laboratory and Dravyaguna Department of IPGT&RA carried out

DNA FINGERPRINTING of many medicinal Plants and created records of the same.

The university has facilities of plant harvesting, green house, net house and a medicinal

plant nursery at Sasoi Garden.

3.1.15 Are students encouraged to conduct any experimental research in Yoga and / or

Naturopathy ?

Yes, University and its constituent institutes encourage and promote experimental

research in Yoga and Naturopathy. University has an exclusive institution for Yoga and

Naturopathy viz. Maharshi Patanjali Institute for Yoga Naturopathy Education and

Research [MPIYNER] within the campus and one more Yoga and naturopathy institute

is affiliated to the university [Morarji Desai Institute of Naturopathy & Yoga Sciences,

Vadodara]. In the post graduate diploma in Yoga & Naturopathy [PGDYN], students

have to select a research problem and work on it and have to submit a dissertation work

as part of curriculum, Special camps are also conducted on specific diseases and the role

of yoga are evaluated. The details are given below:
