Creation Story: God made the sun, moon and stars Pages: 9 - 13

Supplies and Instructions: 1. Pre cut out the 4 shapes for each child. It would be best to use a

heavier paper like a poster grade. 2. Cut a paper plate in half. Each child will get a half of a plate. 3. Pre-print on the paper plate, “God made the Sun, Moon and Stars”. 4. Let the children decorate the plate, stars, moon and sun in any way

Craft Connections: We are walking the children through the creation story. We are now discussing the story of God making the light and darkness, day and night, the stars, moon and sun. This can be a great discussion point about prayer. They can remember to think about God at night and pray to God before bed. Thanking God for the stars in the sky and bright days to enjoy in the morning. The children can hand their mobiles near their beds and remember God’s creation.

Craft Connections: Palm Sunday is the Sunday before Easter. Jesus entered Jerusalem right before Holy Thursday when he would be arrested. The Jewish people were waiting for a Savior to come and lead them. Some people believed Jesus was the Messiah (Savior, King) and others did not believe he was the Messiah. People had heard of the many miracles Jesus performed and they greeted him like a king when he entered Jerusalem. Jesus rode into the city on a donkey and the people put down cloaks and palms to give him a grand entrance. They shouted Hosanna (savior, king) as he rode through the streets. They would be the same people who would call for his crucifixion days later. Use this craft to help the children understand the many weeks of Lent and put the events in order.

Psalm 100: His Steadfast Love Endures Forever

Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth!

Serve the Lord with gladness! Come into his presence with singing!

Know that the Lord, he is God! It is he who made us,

and we are his; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.

Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise!

Give thanks to him; bless his name! For the Lord is good;

his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations.

John 15:9-14 Love one another as I have loved you

Craft Connections: Ask the children if they can remember any stories in the bible about Love. There are many examples of Jesus’ love for others. Jesus was always healing people and loving those who no one else liked (ex. Zacchaeus in the tree). After this discussion, read the children John 15:9-14. “As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Abide in my love. If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and abide in his love. These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full. This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.” If this falls near or on Mother’s day, explain that Jesus’ love is never ending. We can follow Jesus’ commandment by loving one another as Jesus/God has loved us. Ask the children how they can show their love for their moms, grandmother’s or other family members.

Supplies and Instructions: 1. Print out the flower pot and flower templates. 2. Trace and cut the templates onto colored construction paper. 3. Use green paint or a green stamp to put one hand print on the paper. 6. Have the children glue the flower pot at the bottom. 7. Help the children glue the flowers to the tips of their hand print on the paper.
