2Timothy 4:10-18 On Which Side of History?!

DID YOU KNOW?

Why does Jesus give Himself to us as food and drink?

Jesus gives Himself to us in the Eucharist as spiritual nourishment because He loves us. Just like we need good food to nourish

our bodies, we also need the Eucharist to nourish our souls. God's plan for our salvation is our participation in the life of the

Trinity, the communion of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We share in this life beginning at our Baptism. By the power of the

Holy Spirit we are a part of Christ, becoming adopted sons and daughters of the Father. It is strengthened and increased in

Confirmation. It is nourished and deepened in our taking into ourselves the Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus in the

Eucharist. When we partake of the Eucharist, we become united to the person of Christ through His humanity. We are

united to the humanity of Christ and at the same time united to His divinity. We become united to Him. "Whoever eats my

flesh and drinks my blood remains in me and I in him" (Jn 6:56). "Just as the living Father sent me and I have life because of

the Father, so also the one who feeds on me will have life because of me" (Jn 6:57).

FROM FR. JT’S DESK

UPDATE 4 ON THE MERGER

Beloved Parishioners,

From RCAB Q&A number 2:

Q- Why would a merger of parishes be considered?

A - Typically, a merger is proposed after years of collaborative activity by parishes. When the parish communities have a

history of sharing staff and programs, it is possible to view the merger as a natural culmination of all their previous

efforts”.

The Merger discussions and consultations have been ongoing: The Administrator has met with the Deacons and with the

Staff. The Cranberry Pastoral Council and Finance Council have met two times. The Cranberry Pastoral Council and Finance

Council have met with a group of 25 key parishioners from the CCC’s three churches. The Administrator has also met with

the Finance Council to have a deeper evaluation of the current financial reports, and an assessment of the current financial

situation in relation to a merger. In line with the CCC annual practice, the financial reports will be made available to three

churches shortly for parishioners to take a look.

As at date, I have received from parishioners 45 comments and 15 submissions.

I want to thank all who have participated in the discussions so far through these meetings, and/or by sending in comments or

submissions through the dedicated platforms.

Some concerns and issues have been raised. Some recommendations have been suggested. The overriding consensus,

however, has been that the current structure is unsustainable, and that there is need for some form of readjustment in the

Cranberry Catholic Collaborative Parishes. It is also to be noted that many parishioners have expressed fears over the

possibility of loosing their churches and communities. Despite this fear, the requests have been to ensure a proper

groundwork is done so that much is not lost in the process at the end of the road. Many of the concerns expressed would be

interested in the “How” of a possible merger.

As we continue to receive and evaluate responses and comments from parishioners, the CPC and Finance Council will now

shift attention to the step two of the discussions: the “How” of a possible merger.

Peace & Blessings!

Fr. JT. Administrator

Setting Our Hearts Aflame

Shifting Sands

Not too long ago I took a trip to the National Seashore on

the outer Cape. One of my favorite places is the Marconi

Wireless Station on Marconi Beach. The winter of 2013

pretty much erased the seascape and reshaped it anew. At

first I was very disappointed that the area had changed so

much but I spent some time praying and reflecting and some

time writing: How much like life are the shifting sands

especially in this time of a global pandemic where nothing

seems to be the same as it was just a few months ago. In a

few months hence we will find, perhaps, the joys and

blessings of these times. I offer this poem I wrote as a

reflection on the Shifting Sands:

As I walk the path I sense the change...

An emptiness looms on the horizon...

I walk and the sand shifts with each footstep.

Why, I ask, must things change?

The wind and tide have reshaped the sands...

and the landscape I fell in love with is no more.

I am mourning the loss but I ponder the parallel in life...

The person I was a few years ago no longer exists

and I have changed for the better.

Then why, o' why do we mourn for what once was?

I see a family of 4 walking along and taking in the sights.

The 2 kids skip in the sand, mom and dad taking their

pictures...

All oohing and ahhing over such stunning beauty.

They ask me if I have ever seen such beauty!

In their eyes I see anew... And ask myself what do they see?

They know not of the past beauty but yet they appreciate

the beauty of today!

They see the presence of God in the dunes, forever re

sculpting his works.

They hand me a camera, I take a picture...

The dunes and the sea in the back.

A memory is made for them, and for me.

I take out my camera and snap a few pics...

The beauty of today, I capture...

I see not the past but the present, in a way not known

before.

There is a softness and gentleness that radiates outward...

The ocean is soft, her waves gentle...

The sand is fine and the dunes pillow like...

The grass dots the dunes and softly sways with the breeze.

There is a different beauty here to go with the reshaped

landscape.

I have changed and Marconi has changed... And all for the

better. Thanking God, always.

God Bless, Holly Clark

Live the Liturgy

Inspiration for the Week

Jesus knows that the challenges a disciple of the Gospel will

face in the world are real. He tells all of us point blank,

“Do not be afraid.” There are many things we can fear as

we attempt to live the Gospel: unpopularity, being rebuked,

rejection, anger, being challenged, having to defend

ourselves, standing alone, insecurity, failure, and even

death. Many folks know that their faith calls them to live

life more deliberately and radically but are cowards when it

comes to putting it into practice. We easily justify sticking

with the “acceptable” norms with which we are

accustomed. These only serve to keep us stuck and mired

in mediocrity. The Gospel, given flesh by the very presence

of Christ, seeks to stretch, challenge, and change us. We

do not have to fear anything, even death. Sometimes,

living with our fears brings us a salty disordered sense of

comfort. Maybe what we really fear above all else is change.

LOVE IS NEVER

DEFEATED

TWELFTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME— JUNE 21, 2020

We are getting close to finishing our

ten-episode series, Divine Mercy In the

Second Greatest Story Ever Told.

This week we are on episode 8,

“God’s Master Plan.” We begin to see how these episodes

come together to tell this story. Also, don’t forget that

FORMED has much more than just movies and

educational videos. They also have many books and talks

that you can listen to on your phone. Maybe while you are

driving, instead of the radio, listen to the talk,

Jesus and the Jewish Roots of the Eucharist, by Dr. Brant Pitre.

Kids this week we finish our series,

The Saints and Heroes Collection,

by watching,

Juan Diego: Messenger of Guadalupe.

I think you will really like this one.

GOSPEL MEDITATION

ENCOURAGE DEEPER UNDERSTANDING OF SCRIPTURE

There are many things of which we can be afraid: being rebuked,

rejection, anger, being challenged, having to defend ourselves,

standing alone, insecurity, failure, and even death. For some,

identifying and overcoming their fears is a daunting task.

Regardless of how much they may want to break the cycle of fear,

they find that they remain close friends with old and dysfunctional

behavioral habits and norms. Maybe what they really fear is

change. There are many who gravitate to the familiar and

comfortable, and find safety and security in doing so, even if they

remain mired in mediocrity. Human beings have to learn that

there is life beyond the “what has always been” and that happiness

and depth are possible when old structures and systems have to be

left behind.

Can you leave the near and dear, the comfortable and familiar, the safe and secure, and discover new opportunities? The

shear thought of doing so can bring on feelings of apprehension, intense anger, resentment, defensiveness, reluctance,

resistance, and even apathy. If we have to be responsible for making the change, cowardice can creep in. If someone else is to

blame for making the change, any number of possible negative reactions are possible. In the end, only one thing is required

and that is God. If I can rely on and deepen my relationship with God, especially in the Eucharist along with a community of

believers, then little else is of great concern. We have to figure out what is really important. It is not always what we think.

The Gospel calls us to stretch ourselves and try new things, not to remain stuck and stagnant in familiar ways. We are asked to

live life more deliberately, radically, and intentionally. We are asked to leave the familiar behind and learn to live with

changing, and often limiting, human structures. We cannot get too caught up in the physical, ideological, or structural

systems we are used to. The Holy Spirit always leads and guides us. If we trust this, we will find ourselves doing things we

never thought we could do. Always seek the path to joy and love. They keep us from falling victim to our fears and from

seeking the nostalgic crutches we think we need to achieve a sense of well-being and happiness.
