FaithShare Michael Mille e—St. Anthony Parishioner
How has COVID-19 impacted you? It caused fear, losses of loved ones and jobs, isolated us, and slowed the pace of our lives. But in the slow down we've reconnected as a family, learned to appreciate church and family more, and learned to cope and be more resourceful.
What do you miss most about your parish? Easy access to Mass and the Real Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist. I miss the community of parishioners, and worshipping together in song and in the Liturgy.
How do you keep in touch with others? I've been keeping up with fellow parishioners as part of the Ambassador ini a ve, and also with tools like Zoom, phone, tex ng, and social media. We miss our family func ons and the ease of seeing each other socially, but these help.
How has your faith helped you? It has kept me grounded and posi ve, with resources outside of myself to encourage those I meet. I honestly don't know how I would have had any hope without that bedrock level of faith and the peace that comes from a rela onship with the Lord!
What words of encouragement can you o er? If this crisis and the turmoil in the news is causing you fear, anxiety, or depression, turn your focus to Jesus, who o ers you His peace in the storms of life! We know that our faith produces perseverance in the middle of the world's troubles, see James 1:3. Trust in God and His Word. God bless you!

By Dr. Sco Hahn The Word’s Return 15th Sunday in Ordinary Time (Cycle A) Isaiah 55:10-11 Psalm 65:10-14 Romans 8:18-23 Ma hew 13:1-23 Today’s readings, like last week’s, ask us to meditate on Israel’s response to God’s Word—and our own. Why do some hear the word of the kingdom, yet fail to accept it as a call to conversion and faith in Jesus? That ques on underlies today’s Gospel, especially. Again we see, as we did last week, that the kingdom’s mysteries are unfolded to those who open their hearts, making of them a rich soil in the which the Word can grow and bear fruit. As we sing in today’s Psalm, in Jesus, God’s Word has visited our land, to water the stony earth of our hearts with the living waters of the Spirit (see John 7:38; Revela on 22:1). The rs ruit of the Word is the Spirit of love and adop on poured into our hearts in bap sm, making us children of God, as Paul reminds us in today’s Epistle (see Romans 5:5; 8:15-16). In this, we are made a “new crea on” (see 2 Corinthians 5:17), the rs ruits of a new heaven and a new earth (see 2 Peter 3:13). Since the rst humans rejected God’s Word, crea on has been enslaved to fu lity (see Genesis 3:17-19; 5:29). But God’s Word does not go forth only to return to Him void, as we hear in today’s First Reading. His Word awaits our response. We must show ourselves to be children of that Word. We must allow that Word to accomplish God’s will in our lives. As Jesus warns today, we must take care lest the devil steal it away or lest it be choked by worldly concerns. In the Eucharist, the Word gives himself to us as bread to eat. He does so that we might be made fer le, yielding fruits of holiness. And we await the crowning of the year, the great harvest of the Lord’s Day (see Mark 4:29; 2 Peter 3:10; Revela on 1:10)—when His Word will have achieved the end for which it was sent.
