These include engaging in spoken interaction for social and

workplace communication, understanding and producing short texts

such as emails and newspaper articles, making short and simple oral

presentations, and working in groups. Methods, materials and tasks

will be as authentic as possible, thus an integrated approach that

incorporates all four language skills will be adopted. Students will

also be taught how to make effective use of the thesaurus and

dictionaries. Emphasis will be placed on the use of appropriate,

Synopsis of Course Contents This course comprises materials and methods that help students

understand and apply principles and practices of critical thinking,

team-working, effective oral and written communication, and oral

presentation. These include being able to identify and analyze

issues, problems and arguments, source for and synthesize

information, and work together in groups to prepare and present

solutions that are creative and effective. The course is based on the

premise that all these skills can be developed by means of teaching

and guided practice. Students will be exposed to samples of

problems that they might encounter in their daily lives. An interactive,

problem-solving approach is adopted to facilitate the acquisition of

the relevant skills: students will be provided ample guidance and

practice on how to analyse these problem, find solutions and present

Thus they will be taught to select and organise relevant information according to audience and purpose, to write using accurate and appropriate language and to adhere to the established lay-outs for various types of business documents. Synopsis of Course Contents Economics is divided into two parts i.e. Microeconomics and

Macroeconomics. Microeconomics is about individual consumer and

producer behaviour in terms of demand, supply, market equilibrium,

producer theory and market structure. Macroeconomics is about

aggregate behaviour of consumers, and producers, and the role of

government in bringing market equilibrium. Some of the topics for

macro include national income accounting, closed and open

economy theory, international trade, inflation, exchange rate system

and unemployment.

Course Learning Outcomes* At the end of this course, student are able to: 1. Identify and explain the variety of e-business models, i.e.,

business to business (B2B), business to consumer (B2C), consumer to consumer (C2C)

2. Determine an appropriate e-business model and apply it to a specific business

3. Explain the benefits and limitations to using e-business models in relation to traditional models

4. Compare and contrast an e-business to a traditional organisational structure (i.e., issues and risks)

5. Review and evaluate an e-business marketing plan and considering how it addresses and meets the needs of the target market

Synopsis of Course Contents E-business explores what an e-business is and how it is managed. E-business is an interdisciplinary topic encompassing both business and technology. Basic business aspects and applications throughout the business world will also be discussed. The major characteristics, opportunities and limitations of this form of business are explored. Students study various issues and risks that exist in the rapidly changing world of e-business.
