• CPD events will generally be accredited over a two-level banding, this is to ensure that all attendees can receive

appropriate CPD content with the absolute assurance that it should be meaningful and relative to all attendees.

• County FA CPD events will only be accredited for the below licence levels:

- Level 1

- Level 1 and 2

- Level 2

- Level 2 and 3

- Level 3

• This is a standardized format that covers all of the CPD providers in England to ensure consistency and a quality

assurance process

Appropriate CPD

Page 5: County FA CPD Accreditation Guidelines

• CPD Events must be added to EMS to be approved

• Each event must be registered on the correct template,

so for example:

Licence Level: 1 and 2

Hours Accredited: 3 Hours

Correct Code: 4640-CPD L12(3)-32921

Incorrect Code: 4640-CPD L1(3)-32921

• Please note: If a CPD event is added to the wrong course

template this will not be approved, this cannot be changed

retrospectively. If this is submitted incorrectly, please

cancel the course and resend on the correct template.

• If you are unsure which template to use, please contact

The CPD Team

EMS EMS BUG

If a coach has attended two courses of the same

template, so for example L1,2 (3 Hours) on

22/09/2014 and 23/09/2014 the system is currently

only allowing one qualification to update as it believes

the second is a duplicate.

To resolve this, a member of the LCC team checks all

events on a weekly basis to make sure the hours

have transferred across to all attendees.

CPD will be up to date two weeks from you marking

on EMS.

Advertising Requirements

• Each event must clearly state that it is FREE of charge for

FA Licensed Coaches (If easier, this can be via issue of a

voucher code for LCC members)

• The booking page must clearly show the licence level and

hours accredited

Please include the below text on each page (licence level

adapted as needed)

Please note: This course is for level 1 and 2 coaches.

Coaches of any level may attend, however CPD is only

applicable for levels 1 and 2 coaches.

• Details of useful advertising resources/templates can be

found on p.9. Alternatively, please contact

[email protected] for further assistance.

Why must CPD Events be FREE of charge for FA

Licensed Coaches? Each County FA is able to

draw down funding from their County plan.

Why are FA Licensed Coaches’ Club Events

Chargeable? No funding is provided for these

events, as such they are run and organised on a

cost only basis.

What is CPD?

The term CPD stands for Continuous Professional Development and is used to describe the learning professionals undertake

to enhance and maintain their skills and knowledge related to their profession.

How many hours do coaches have to complete?

In order to retain their coaching licence, coaches are required to complete a number of hours CPD through the season (1

August 2014 – 31 July 2015). The number of hours required are wholly dependent on licence level, please see below:

FA Licence

Level

Minimum CPD

Requirements

How Often

1 3 Hours Seasonally – for season

2 5 Hours 2014/15 this must

3 5 Hours be completed from

4 5 Hours 1 August 2014 -

5 5 Hours 31 July 2015

Please note: These are recommended minimum

hours. We strongly urge all coaches to look beyond

these to further enhance the learning journey

Page 12: County FA CPD Accreditation Guidelines

Where can coaches see their CPD hours?

UEFA qualified coaches (Level 3,4 & 5) are required to

complete 15 hours of CPD every three years as per UEFA

regulations. This is to ensure the retention of their

coaching qualification.

Being an FA Licensed Coach will ensure UEFA

requirements are fulfilled. The FA CPD captured though

Licensing does conform and align to UEFA qualification

retention over a cyclical 3 year basis.

By maintaining their membership and keeping up to date

with CPD this is automatically retained.

UEFA CPD Requirements

By visiting www.TheFA.com/LicensedCoachesClub and

clicking on ‘My Training’

Page 13: County FA CPD Accreditation Guidelines

What happens if CPD is not completed?

It is the responsibility of the coach to complete their CPD hours each season in order to renew their membership. If CPD is

not completed, a coach will not be able to renew their membership until the required hours have been completed.

Can CPD be carried over to next season?

No!

Excess CPD hours cannot be rolled over to/from the next/previous season. CPD is recorded seasonally between 1 August –

31 July and is required each season in order to maintain membership.

Once a coach renews his/her membership for the new season, the system will automatically look at the new season

requirements. This means once renewed, the CPD requirement will change to a red cross. All additional training from

previous seasons will still remain under the historical section on the website so you can continue to grow your coaching CV

and maintain a full history of additional hours.
