THE QUAIRADING DISTRICT HERITAGE TRAIL B4 begins wth a walk around Dangin with interpretive signs. A drive through surrounding farmland, using a brochure guide, visits sites of natural and historical significance such as Toapin Weir built in 1912. This is a fine example of a reticulated water system from a rock catchment. GRANITE WAY D3 The granite outcrops of Mount Stirling and Kokerbin Rock are located 30kms east of Quairading. The area holds great signifi- cance for Aboriginal people. The beautiful views make a drive this way well worthwhile. PINK LAKE C4 At certain times of year both sides of this lake 11 kms east of town have a distinctive pink colour. QUAIRADING NATURE RESERVE B4 This 527 hectare reserve west of the town has been set aside for flora and fauna conservation and environmental studies. Along its walk trails you may catch sight of a kangaroo or echidna and observe the wildflowers. Quairading Begin your Wheatbelt experience travelling the Great Eastern/Southern Highways to the town of York. Corrigin has a rich agricultural heritage, the district produces around 171 thousand tonnes of wheat in an average year. It boasts a friendly atmosphere for both residents and visitors. MAIN STREET & MISS B’s PARK Visit the shops and cafés in Campbell Street just off the Highway. Miss B’s Park has picnic and BBQ facilities located in the main street. DOG IN A UTE Corrigin still holds the world record for this famous event. In 2002, 1527 dogs in Utes participated and $80,000 was raised for the Royal Flying Doctor & Community activities. DOG CEMETERY This cemetery began in 1974 as a tribute to ‘Man’s Best Friend’, just 5km west of town. WILDFLOWERS & WALK TRAILS A 4km Wildflower Drive starts at the Dog Cemetery. Over 200 species can be seen as it meanders through a wide range of soils, from sedgelands to mixed shrubs and various woodlands, some growing in profusion in broken rocks. Take a leisurely walk over the Corrigin Rock on the east edge of town and enjoy a picnic in the Adventure Playground. LOOK-OUTS Panoramic views of the town and farmlands can be seen from the Anzac Memorial in town or from the Wildflower Drive. GRANITE ROCKS George Rock – 20km east has camping and BBQ facilities. Sewell Rock is 40km SW and Wogerlin Rock is 25km NW. Corrigin Rock is in the town which has BBQ facilities and playground. The Heritage Trail of Bush Schools follows 6 sites and the Pioneer Cemetery is very interesting. YEERAKINE ROCK WALK G7 Walk trail close to town with an old water catchment which is very interesting, and panoramic views. KONDININ LAKE F7 a salt lake 5kms west of town covering over 1500 hectares . A delight for birdwatchers and nature lovers. KARLGARIN H6 is a ’small but proud’ town that has retained its early settlement charm. TRESSIE’S MUSEUM H6 is worth a visit. Named after its Aboriginal heritage as the place of female emus, Narembeen offers country hospitality and scenery that reflects Australia’s true farming lifestyle. lakE gRaCE g10/11 itself is one of Western Australia’s largest inland salt lakes. Comprising two separate water bodies, 25.75 kms long and 7.24kms wide at its widest point, this wetland is part of a chain of lakes that flow into the Avon River.

ThE JOhn hOlland Way, a scenic route covering some 600kms of Australian Outback, connecting the regional townsites of Broomehill and Coolgardie is suitable for conventional two wheel drive travel and links together the fertile farming areas of the State’s south west corner to the mining riches of WA’s Goldfields.

Kondinin, traversed in 1848 by Surveyor General J S Roe, was first settled in 1909. Preservation of a number of original buildings has enhanced the town centre. The Centenary Walk, a trail of mosaics, has been laid to commemorate past and present families, businesses and organisations and award winning iron sculptures have been incorporated. A great spot to break your journey.
