Building codes recognize the improved seismicbehavior o Buckling Restrained Braced Frames(BRBFs), allowing UP TO A 25% DESIGN LOADREDUCTION, compared to other commonly usedlateral systems. Tis means:

    FEWER rames

    LESS structural weight

    SMALLER oundations

CoreBrace BRBs are engineered to have essentiallythe same capacity in tension and compression, resulting in less overstrength built into the structure.Additionally, they can be used in single diagonalcongurations without design penalties. Tis means:

    FEWER braces and connections

    SMALLER rame columns and beams

SMALLER connections to the structure andoundations

CoreBrace Buckling Restrained Braces arestructural elements composed o a steel coreencased in a grout-lled steel tube. Te grout/casing assembly connes the core, increasingits critical load to a point that the axial capacityin compression is only limited by the yieldstress o the steel. Te concept allows the coreto resist the design axial orces utilizing the

FULL STEEL STRENGTH while the casingresists exural buckling. Proprietary InteraceMaterial is used to separate the two resistingsystems, with MINIMIZED FRICTION. Teresult is a high perormance brace that DOESNOT BUCKLE.

In this mechanism the steel core yields in tension andcompression, dissipating energy with a SUSTAINEDSYMMETRIC HYSTERETIC BEHAVIOUR. As a consequence, the braces act as structural uses, concentrating all the activityin the plastic range while gussets, beams and columns remainelastic during a seismic event. CoreBrace BRBs use a STABLEEND PROJECTION rom the casing, which eliminates the needor CJP welds. Tis provides improved redundancy in the loadpath and allows or post-event visual inspection.

Independent SUBASSEMBLAGE TEST results show that CoreBrace BRBs exceed the requirements o AISC 341,providing consistent hysteretic behavior during multiple load cycles, at deormations up to 22 times the yield elongation.

Testing oCoreBrace BoltedLug Braces was perormed at theUniversity o Utah, the Universityo Caliornia, San Diego and theNational Center or Research onEarthquake Engineering (NCREE)acilities in Taiwan.

CoreBrace provides engineers with REAL TIME DESIGNASSISTANCE during all stages o the project. Our proessionalsreport brace stiness values to be used in the analysis o anystructure and design the gusset plates that connect the BRBs to therame columns and beams. Useul tools such as tables with reerence
