I took a lot of inspiration from Q magazine in relation to my header as I liked the simple yet effective style. I put the white font in the red background as I think this stands out more and states the importance of the magazine, contributing to the branding.

Again I took a lot of inspiration from Q magazine to design my sell lines. I used a bold font that would draw attention to the magazine on the shelf with other magazines which would make my magazine more dominant within the market. Also by including big artists I am making the magazine more appealing to my target audience and making my audience feel more included in the pop ‘scene’.

I have put a plug on the front cover of my magazine as it is conventional to have them on the front cover to make people have more of an incentive to buy the magazine.

I have made the main headline of my magazine the main focus of my front cover. This is to state the dominance of the artist appearing in my magazine making the audience more likely to buy my magazine as they will be attracted to reading about an important figure.

I have put a pull quote underneath my main headline of my magazine because this is conventional of a magazine. By using a pull quote from the article I am making the audience more intrigued to read the full story, this makes them more likely to actually buy the magazine.

Footers are also a convention of a magazine front cover. I chose to include one on my front cover as it allows me to inform my audience to a further extent of what is in my magazine. I know my audience like to have a wide range of artists to read about, so by including all of these artists I am appealing to them.

A bar code is a necessary convention of any magazine front cover. It allows the customer to actually buy the magazine. I have put it at the bottom right corner of the page because this is the most conventional place.

I chose this image for many reasons. Firstly the model has a direct mode of address which is conventional of a magazine because it draws the audience to the magazine. Also the mise-en-scene matches with the house style of the magazine because of the black and red in her top. Also I have made sure there is no anchorage placed on top of the image and the image is placed over the masthead which states her dominance in the magazine.

I have placed the masthead of my magazine on my contents page as this continues the brand of my magazine and reinstates the dominance of the branding of my magazine.

I have made the contents title of the page the biggest font on the page as this is conventional of magazines. By doing this it makes my magazine easy to read as it is easy to navigate around.

I have broken my contents down into sections, it is conventional to do this as again, it makes the magazine easy to navigate. Also the audience of my magazine wont have a lot of time so by doing this I am making my magazine easier to read for them as they can easily find the stories they are most interested in.

I have included this image of Taylor Swift because she is a big star in the pop industry. Also her costumes fit in well with the genre. This makes the magazine very interesting to the reader as they are interested in the big stars of the pop industry.

I have put an image of the main feature artist of my magazine in my contents page to maintain the continuity of my magazine and to reinstate her dominance.

An editors letter is very conventional of a magazine. I chose to include one as it makes the magazine more personal and makes the audience feel more included in the magazine which makes it more appealing.

I have included a social networking section in my magazine as this is also conventional. Many magazines offer special features and extras online so by doing this I am making my magazine more competitive within the market. Also by doing research I have found out that my audience are very interested in social networking and accessing things digitally, so by including this section I am making my magazine more appealing to my target audience.

I have put a brief overview of each story underneath each . This is conventional of magazines as it allows the audience to see what each story involves and makes them intrigued to read the story; making them more likely to buy the magazine.

I have continued my house style by using bold fonts and black, red and white. This maintains continuity and also ties all my pages together creating a more professional look.

A headline is the main convention of a double page spread, it is also conventional that it should be the largest text on the page; I think I have upheld these conventions. I have however challenged conventions as it is conventional for magazines to use pull quotes as the headline of their magazine. I have taken inspiration from Q magazine and simply used the artists name. I chose to do this because I think that it is simple and effective and it states the dominance of the artist making her look like a major star.

I took up a full page with a picture of the main artist. This is a common convention of a magazine as it instates the dominance of the artist and if the reader is just ‘flicking through’ the magazine they are more likely to see the large image and will stop to read the article as it is a recognisable artist.

I have put page numbers in the bottom corner of the page as this is a main convention of a double page spread. I have also used a similar bold font to what I have used on other pages to maintain continuity throughout my magazine.

I have included advertisements as to how to digitally buy my artists music. This is a common convention of modern magazines due to the digitalisation of music. My target audience tend to buy music digitally rather than buying the physical product nowadays because it is easier to access, so by making this available to my audience I am massively appealing to their needs.

Pull quotes are very conventional on a magazine dps because again if the reader is ‘flicking through’ the magazine, they may see the pull quote and it would make them interested in the article and therefore would want to read/buy the magazine

Again in my double page spread I have used black, red and white to maintain my house style and maintain the continuity through my magazine.
