1 Introduction

Welcome to the website controlling The Royal College of Speech and Language TherapistsContinuing Professional Development (CPD) scheme. This website allows you to record andmaintain details of your CPD activity. You should use this site on an ongoing basis, ideallyentering one or two activities once a month. RCSLT has also produced a CPD toolkit, whichprovides you with tools to help you undertake work based CPD. The toolkit has a personaldevelopment plan (PDP), and a range of work based CPD activities, as well as guidance onthe links with HPC and KSF. You do not have to use these forms if you already have similarforms from your trust, but you must complete a PDP every year as well completing the diary. The manual forms from the toolkit should be stored in your CPD portfolio, along with other‘evidence’ of CPD activity. Each piece of ‘evidence’ should be recorded in this diary. From2007, RCSLT will audit a sample of records against its Standards for CPD, and offer support tomembers as required. For more information on the Standards, see RCSLT’s website andAppendix 1 in this manual.

The diary allows you to keep records in a format that can be submitted for HPC audit purposes. We have also added a function which allows you to keep a record of how each CPD activityrelates to the Knowledge and Skills Framework (KSF). You can show how you haveprogressed in relation to the levels in each dimension in your KSF Developmental Review.
