PRODUCTION LOG – CONTENTS PAGE

Page 2: Contents page production log

Firstly I went on InDesign and made an made an A4 sheet then using the shape for the boxes I outlined where each of the pictures, texts and the headline will be with the guideline of my contents page mock up.

Page 3: Contents page production log

To make the headline:1. Make a box the overlap a text box and write the ‘C’ 2. The rotate the ‘C using the rotating tool 3. Then make a rectangle shape and overlap it with the remaining words4. Then rotate it so that it joint at the side of the ‘c’ then do the same for the

rest of the words.

The use of the contents headline being displayed in that manner its looks more attractive and unconventional. In the production of making the headline into a simple black colour which is displayed at the top of the page to standout.

•To help the navigation of the my contents page and to make it look more sophisticated. The use of borders were made around the page to separate the cover lines. •In the making of the cover lines, having stories which attracted the audience as well as match my cover lines were difficult to compress into the box. •Using the illustration of the box that were made before the designing of the page made it easier to use a text tool and create the text instantly. •After writing the text for the text to initially to standout I used the borders and changed the colour to purple which one of my magazine colour themes.

Draft A

Draft B

In Draft A after making the cover lines the pictures had to be placed within the boxes.• To place to the picture I simply went to file and place then made the picture a particular size so they can fit within the box. However one of the picture could not be used due to the visibility so I used another picture but cropped the picture (second picture on the left) also the main image on the which is in black or white which I edited to make the model the main focus and for the background not to take precedence. •In Draft B I have continued to make more cover lines at the bottom instead of having the Editors not take up so much space; when in many gospel magazines there are a lot of cover lines and not many pictures.

Effects: •One of the effects that have been used mostly in my contents page is stroke. •Firstly I used the rectangle tool and went on swatches and changed the colour then with the use of the gradient ( as shown). •Then using the text tool I went on wrote the word Features the using the effect of stroke created the outline of black to highlight the word as I have also demonstrated on the page numbers.

I have adapted the contents page compared to before through the:•Colour : I have the background colour which is purple relating the back to the initial theme colour of the magazine. •Pictures/ Text: They have been replaced in a lower position than to make space for the Editors note. But still having the same format. •The Cover lines : I have added extra cover lines at the side because when making them the first time the looked spaced out and it made the magazine look empty because it did not have enough stories.•The initial cover lines: The cover lines which have been placed in a box have also been adapted with the use of the effects to continue the pattern that has been used for the numbers and Features.

During production because I removed the section for editors note and changed to the section for features I still felt that having the Editors note completes the contents with a short note on what the reader will hopefully enjoy and expect within the magazine.

Final Contents PageThe headline displayed looked unconventional and fun compared to various other Gospel magazines. The illustration to relinquish how the magazine is targeted at a younger audience.

The Editors note has been displayed at the top due to how the magazine being produced each month it should create instant attraction for the reader to look over as they look into the magazine.

The pictures and the text has been presented in that manner to show a variety between writing and using multimedia. Also due to my audience they will look more attracted to the format of the contents page.

The illustration of the pictures continues to allow the reader to be attracted and for the contents page to have some appeal. Also the picture shows how happy the girl is praising with a typical instrument used in gospel churches.

This section continues to show more of the stories that will shown in the magazines. This format has been shown show through mixing the traditional and Morden version of formatting a contents. Relating back to my masthead which imprints Generation.
