Background to the Programme

• MOD Consultation Paper 2011• Based on a number of reports highlighting a lack of

support for ESLs• Existing COBSEO work streams• RFEA leading on employment• Recognition that military charities don’t hold all the

keys• Consortium developed

What is The Future Horizons Programme ?

• Non Military run programme – 1 year trial **• Funded by FIMT• Open to ESLs from ITC and Catterick Garrison• Opt In for continued support after discharge• Assisting transition – COBSEO objectives• Partnership model - COBSEO members, commercial

Welfare to Work companies and other 3rd sector organisations

• Focussed on supporting ESLs into employment

What is The Future Horizons Programme ?

• Based in Hook Coy – linked into the existing process

• Two Advisors – interview ESLs pre-discharge– Assessment of needs– Registered on the systems– Allocated to a Specialist Employment Consultant (SEC)

• Central Employment Team track progress

• 3 Stages to the programme:– No help required– Standard job finding support– More complex support needs

• Various evaluation strands being measured

• 12 month report delivered in April 2013

• Linked into existing Career Transition Partnership (CTP)

• Stage 3 providers deliver geographical coverage
