During the 2018 Missouri Annual Conference, our worship at Wentzville UMC will have a
slightly different face. Highlights of the morning are as follows:
Sunday, June 10
9 am A special learning 'me live-streamed from the Conference will feature Rev. Terry
Swan from Salem in Ladue UMC. These learning 'mes are dynamic and upli-ing,
and we invite you to a.end. Our Sunday Adult Study groups may wish to take
advantage of “a week off” from regular study and a.end this session together.
10 am Sunday Café from 10-10:30 am
10:30 am Worship in the Sanctuary — Message, Music, Prayer and Offering
As your schedule allows, we invite everyone to aend all or part of the morning’s events.
Conference happens once a year, and we look forward to welcoming you to this special day
of learning and worship.
Saturday, June 9 — Ordination at 7 pm Peter Norton is currently serving as Associate Pastor of Youth & Family
Ministries at First UMC of St. Charles. Peter grew up in our church and is
the son of Wes & Louise Norton. For those of you who know him, the
ordina'on service can be accessed by live stream at the following link:

We congratulate Peter and wish him the best as God moves him forward!

Dear Friends:
I am so happy for our graduang seniors. They are seng off onto a new
path of higher educaon and personal exploraon. Our prayers go with them as
they discover new freedoms not found at home. There will be new friends who will
make life interesng. All we ask is, be careful!
Summer brings so many joys like vacaons, camping, ball games and cook
outs. It’s a great me to meet up with friends and enjoy the warmth of summer
with a cool beverage to make it tolerable. I prefer the cool spring and fall, but
Missouri has four seasons so let’s enjoy them all.
Our summer sermon series, “Faces of our Faith” will explore Old and New
Testament characters who fell from grace and were forgiven, along with a few who
changed the course of history. Beginning on Sunday, June 17th, we’ll look at Adam
and Eve, followed by two midwives, Shiphrah and Puah. Each couple discovered an
a.ribute of God we have missed when reading through the scriptures.
Our Adult Choir in the first service takes a break during the summer
months, so personal talents in Art and Music are appreciated. Please consider
offering your talent in worship (see page 3 for more informaon). It will make
a difference for all of us.
We are taking a poll of which service you would a.end beginning in
September so that there would be more room in worship. On average, our 9 am
service has been at capacity for the past six years. Anything over 75% in a.end-
ance is considered full, and we all know how uncomfortable it is to squeeze into
the center seats or be forced to sit in the front row. We have great musicians and
choir members who love to share their music. Some say the preaching isn’t so bad
either. Beginning in September, would you come a li.le earlier or a li.le later for
our tradional worship?
I look forward to seeing you Sunday,

From Arvetta Bray…
This is a great big THANK YOU to the church for
all the prayers, cards and visits I received in the
hospital and at home. It’s really nice to know
someone cares.
Also, a great big thanks to the ladies who made
the prayer lab robe; also to know that each
s.tch was made with a prayer. It is beau.ful
and a gi9 to be cherished. Thank you so much!
Many thanks to everyone who contributed cleaning
supplies, personal hygiene items, diapers and wipes to
the United Methodist Women’s Ingathering of items
for St. Louis Crisis Nursery, Wentzville campus.
Nicole Dulle, MSW presented the May UMW mission
program, and she and the staff were overwhelmed with
the generosity of our congregaon.
Thank you for making a difference in the Wentzville
community!

Where could you possibly buy a bag stuffed full of gently used clothes for $4.00? Or a purse or pair of shoes
for 50 cents? Or household items at garage sale prices? From jewelry to jumpsuits, handbags to hoodies,
books, boots, baby clothes and everything in between… Mary Martha Thrift Store provides!
For over four decades, Mary Martha has successfully served this area by accepng donated items and
offering them for sale to the general public at unheard of bargain prices. Wentzville United Methodist is one
of eight (8) churches who rotate the responsibility of staffing the ThriI Store with faithful, dedicated
volunteers who work every day to prepare the store and sort through the donaons.
And does it make a difference? YES! In 2017 a total of $155,950 was given back to the community.
Our primary mission is to help families. AIer minimal expenses, all money is returned to the community.
Mary Martha gives quarterly checks to the churches – the total for 2017 was $60,000 (and $7,500 of that was
given to our WUMC Benevolence Fund). Checks to local food pantries totaled $46,250. Other beneficiaries
include charitable organizaons such as Crossroads Clinic Volunteers in Medicine, Birthright, and St. Louis
Crisis Nursery, Wentzville. Unusable items are sold to Remains, Inc. or donated to the Salvaon Army. Mary
Martha also has a grant program that enables organizaons to refer people who need help. They can get a
free bag of clothes for each family member and household items (depending on their situaon).
So, how can you help? By volunteering a li.le bit of your me in one of the following ways:
Just a few hours every 8 weeks
Sort clothes, price household items and serve as cashiers
Able-bodies can empty our donation shed and carry heavy items
We work the week of June 4th, and need help on Friday & Saturday mornings (6/8 and 6/9). If you can lend
a hand and didn’t sign the Sunday Connect Card, call Kay at 636-625-8821. We appreciate our volunteers!
