Obituary"A Life Well Spent Lives On"

Albert L. Lester, a native of Marion, S.C. and a resident of Batesburg, S.C., was bom January 13,1932 in Marion County. He is the son of Mrs. Amelia Lester and the late Willie Lester.

He attended Marion County Training School and pursued higher degrees at the following educational institutions: S.C. State University, with a B.S. Degree in Agriculture; Master of Science in Education and other graduate and post gradu­ate studies at Voorhees College, Atlanta University and USC of Columbia.

Albert Lester was united in Holy Matrimony to Cora Amaker. To this union two children were bom.

His work experience was extensive and exemplified a man of love and loyalty to his family and mankind. He worked as a teacher in the following schools: Twin City High, Aiken County Schools; served as principal and assistant principal in the Twin City High School, Hampton Schools and the Lexington High Schools; he was also Counselor in the Aiken County Schools and Supervisor in the State De­partment of Education; he served his country in the U.S. Army from 1956 - 1958.

Despite Albert Lester's busy schedule, he found time to worship his God, be a civic-community leader and joined professional organizations. The following or­ganizations became apart of his educational and religious lifestyle: Member of St. James Christian Methodist Episcopal Church, Chairman of the Steward Board, Sunday School Superintendent, Director of the Local Board of Christian Educa­tion, President of the District Board of Christian Education, President of the An­nual Conference Laity, Annual Conference Trustee, member of the Ridge Arts Council Board of Directors, Lexington County Improvement Committee, Lexing­ton County Health Education Foundation, Lexington County Volunteer Selective Service Board #32, DDL Enterprises of Batesburg, S.C. Retired Educators Associa­tion, the National Retired Educators Association, Trustee Board of Lexington Co. Children's Shelter, Batesburg-Leesville Consolidation Committee, Member and Chairman of Lexington Co. School Board District #3.

Thursday, September 30,1993, God called Albert Lester into an eternal sleep at his home on Olive Branch Terrance.

His survivors include his loving and devoted wife, Mrs. Cora Amaker Lester; one son Albert Le Morris of Johnson City, Tenn; One daughter, Manuela Marsha of King of Prussia, Penn., Mother, Mrs. Amelia Lester of Marion, S.C., four sisters: Addie L. Hughes, Marion, S.C.; Eliza L. Stevenson, Marion, S.C.; Willie L. Bolden, Simpsonville, S.C.; Betty L. McLeod, Newark, N.J.

Father in law, Marion Clinton Amaker, Sr.; eleven brothers-in-law, Booker T. Stevenson, Lee W. Bolden, James McLeod, Marion Amaker, Clarion Amaker, Enell Amaker, Nehemiah Amaker, Elvin Amaker, Saint Clair Amaker, Clayton Childers and Howard Boyd; Seven Sisters-in-law; Anne A. Childers, Ethel A. Boyd, Wyzena F. Jackson, Hattie Amaker, Lou Ethel Amaker, Audrey Amaker, Mary Helen Amaker and other relatives and friends.

The family will greet friends at the Olive Branch Fellowship Hall
