Take the Sermon with you...

Today’s Scripture ReadingsDeuteronomy 11:14-19 (The Message)Look around you: Everything you see is God’s—the heavens above and beyond, the Earth, and everything on it. But it was your ancestors who God fell in love with; he picked their children—that’s you!—out of all the other peoples. Th at’s where we are right now. So cut away the thick calluses from your heart and stop being so willfully hardheaded. God, your God, is the God of all gods, he’s the Master of all masters, a God immense and powerful and awesome. He doesn’t play favorites, takes no bribes, makes sure orphans and widows are treated fairly, takes loving care of foreigners by seeing that they get food and clothing. You must treat foreigners with the same loving care- remember, you were once foreigners in Egypt.

Matt hew 25:34-40 (New Living Translation)

“Th en the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the Kingdom prepared for you from the creation of the world. 35 For I was hungry, and you fed me. I was thirsty, and you gave me a drink. I was a stranger, and you invited me into your home. 36 I was naked, and you gave me clothing. I was sick, and you cared for me. I was in prison, and you visited me.’37 “Th en these righteous ones will reply, ‘Lord, when did we ever see you hungry and feed you? Or thirsty and give you something to drink?38 Or a stranger and show you hospitality? Or naked and give you clothing? 39 When did we ever see you sick or in prison and visit you?’40 “And the King will say, ‘I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me!’

Gift ed to CareWhen was the last time someone really listened to you? We’re talking about that undistracted, full-attention kind of thing. It’s one of the ways Stephen Ministers are trained to care for others. We are seeking people to become trained Stephen Ministers and show up for those in community who are struggling with things like job loss, divorce, grief, loneliness, and life transitions. Will you consider serving in this way? Training begins soon and you will join an awesome team of committed Stephen Ministers at Snowmass Chapel making a huge diff erence in our community. Please contact our Stephen Ministry Team Leaders, Dr. Heather Kaplinski or Sue de Campo for more information.

Order of ServiceFebruary 23rd 2020 ~ 7th Sunday after Epiphany

Prelude

Welcome, Announcements, and Peace

Call to Worship In the beginning God created all things, and God saw that they were good. At our beginning, God created usunique and irreplaceable, loved and wanted by God, known and treasured by God even before He created us. In all our new beginnings, God creates something newso we will seek God in the freshness of this morning,in the laughter of friends,in the colors of creation,

and in this beautiful place. Amen.

Hymn of Praise WS #244 & #248, Th is I Know

Children dismissed to Sunday School

Opening Prayer Loving God and Creator of all we come to you today deeply grateful for your creation. As we look around us we are amazed at the greatness and majesty of all that you have made. Nature around us speaks of your greatness – the vast expanse of the sky, the mountains, trees, lakes and streams speak of your great design. We join in praise with the writer of the psalms when he says, “O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth.” May we show our love and reverence to you, our Lord, by caring for all that you have created. We humbly give

you praise and thanks. Amen.

The Season After The Season After EpiphanyEpiphany

Th e church season

after Christmas is

known as the Season

of Epiphany. It is also

known as Ordinary

Time (although there

is nothing ordinary

or boring about it!),

and the color green is

used throughout the

church to signify this

as a period of growth

for the church. Th e

coming of the Magi

is celebrated on the

Epiphany, Jan. 6th;

and Th e Baptism of

our Lord is observed

on the Sunday after

Epiphany. Th e gospels

for the other Sundays

of the Epiphany

season describe the

various events that

point to the divinity

of Jesus. Th e Season

of Epiphany/Ordinary

Time lasts from

Jan. 6 through Ash

Wednesday.

Doxology #815

Blessing of the Bread & Wine

Th e Lord’s PrayerOur Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Th y name. Th y kingdom come; Th y will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, for Th ine is the kingdom,

the power and the glory for ever and ever. Amen.

Communion

Closing Prayer adapted Forward Movement Loving God, you have fi lled the world with beauty: Open our eyes to behold your gracious hand in all your works; that, rejoicing in your whole creation, we may learn to serve you with gladness; for the sake of him through whom all things were

made, your Son Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Closing Hymn #715, He Is Jehovah

Blessing

Postlude

Our love in action now begins...

CommunionCommunion

Communion calls

to mind the night

Jesus broke bread at

the Last Supper, and

it also reminds us

that Jesus’ body was

broken on the cross

for us. Communion

(also known as the

Eucharist, or the

Great Th anksgiving

in some traditions.)

becomes for us the

very presence of God,

our daily bread.

Receiving Receiving CommunionCommunion

All are welcome

at God’s table. At

Snowmass Chapel we

receive communion

by intinction: you

will be given the

bread which you may

then dip in the wine.

Gluten-free wafers

are available by

request.
