To implement a

educational training model on patient confidentiality.

All staff will be required to have this training.

Purpose

At the completion of this

training, all staff will be required to sign an acknowledgment form regarding compliance of the training/education.

Page 4: Confidentiality training

At the end of the training the

employees will accept ownership and accountability when dealing with confidentiality issues.

Measure of Success

It is our responsibility to protect confidential or privileged

information about our patients.

Page 6: Confidentiality training

Our hospital abides by federal

privacy and security regulations, including Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act(HIPPA), and applicable state laws.

Page 7: Confidentiality training

This training is designed to educate all employees about privacy and

security regulators as they apply to their duties.

Page 8: Confidentiality training

Confidential information is disclosed only on “a need to

know” basis.

Page 9: Confidentiality training

All team members have a

responsibility to protect the privacy, security, and confidentiality of patient protected health information (PHI) at all times.

Page 10: Confidentiality training

Workforce members must read,

understand and comply with our hospital policies and procedures pertaining to the privacy, security, and confidentiality of PHI and the use and protections regarding technology.

Page 11: Confidentiality training

Unauthorized access, use, or

disclosure of this information and/or technology is against hospital policy as well as federal regulations (HIPPA) and state laws.

Page 12: Confidentiality training

Violations of patient

confidentiality will result in disciplinary actions up to and termination of employment.

Criminal and civil

penalties may also apply particularly in violations related to a patient's protected health information.
