Type: Stainless steel high-speed handpiece with a replaceable turbine Operating Air Pressure: 30 to 32 psi (2.11 to 2.25 kgs/cm 2 ) Air Consumption: 1.9 SCFM (896.8 cms 3 /sec.) @ 30 psi (2.11 kgs/cm 2 ) No Load Speed: Concentrix CX - 400,000 rpm; Concentrix KX - 450,000 rpm Connection: 2- or 2/3-line fixed ISO configuration Weight: 41g Sterilizable: Steam Sterilization at 121° C or 135° C handpiece Installation note: Filter air and water supplies. Soften and deionize water. Be sure filters operate efficiently. To ensure efficient spray pattern, it is recommended to use a 12 micron water filter. Manual Bur Changing System Maximum 24.0 mm OVERALL LENGTH Minimum 10.8 mm Shank Length Use standard length concentric diamond and carbide burs with 1.6mm (.0628”) nominal diameter friction grip shanks designed for high speed handpieces. Every starDental Diamond Bur meets specifications for recommended lengths. Contact your dealer for a complete list of starDental Diamond Burs. starDental Manual turbines have the following bur requirements: Use only burs with hardened, tempered steel shanks or carbide shanks. Every starDental Bur meets required hardness. Before use, verify concentric rotation by operating handpiece outside the oral cavity in a safe place. note: Do not use burs that produce excessive noise or do not run concentrically. Do not use burs that are modified, eccentrically designed, or are bent or ‘soft’ (non-heat treated) shanks. handpiece operation cautIon Use burs with a maximum overall length of 24 mm and a shank length of at least 10.8 mm. 4. Disengage tool and tug on bur to verify that it is completely engaged and holding securely. If chuck does not hold bur securely, clean or replace chuck. NOTICE Be careful to keep bur tool aligned with handpiece. If tool is side-loaded while engaged in chuck, tool may be damaged. remoVal of bur from the manual chuck 1. Use manual bur tool and turn counterclockwise one full turn, 360° rotation. 2. Pull bur straight out. 1. Always tug on bur after chuck is loaded to confirm that the bur is secured. 2. Before use, verify concentric rotation by operating the handpiece outside of the oral cavity in a safe place. Do not use burs that do not run concentrically or produce excessive noise. 3. Never operate handpiece without a bur installed. 4. Use burs with a maximum overall length of 24 mm. Shank length must be at least 10.8 mm for manual chuck turbines (Concentrix KX); and at least 7.3 mm for autochuck turbines (Concentrix CX). This includes most short shank burs. 5. Use only recommended burs to prevent damage to handpiece turbine and/or chuck, and in some cases to prevent burs from improper or incorrect placement. An improperly clamped bur may dislodge during use, causing injury to you or your patient. A sudden, high-pitched sound or increased vibration while handpiece is operating alerts the operator to the possibility that the chuck is not clamped sufficiently to retain the bur or a bent bur is inserted. 6. When using the handpiece with autochuck turbine (Concentrix CX), never depress end cap while bur is rotating. Please obserVe safety rules cleaning, lubricating, and sterilization troubleshooting rear seal replacement Seals wear with repeated use. Once a year, or as needed, replace the rear seal in the handpiece: for the 2/3-line handpiece replace rear seal with starDental Part #203103. replacement Part numbers always insist on starDental parts for best performance. Depress autochuck end cap button and continue to feed in bur until it clicks and stops. 3. Release end cap button. Now, apply light inward force to the dental bur. This will help set the chucking mechanism for initial start-up. (Always tug on bur after it has been installed to confirm that it is secured). cautIon Never depress the autochuck end cap button or rest the end cap against any part of the oral anatomy during handpiece operation. Depressing the end cap while a bur is rotating can activate the chuck mechanism and result in end cap heat-up and/or loss of bur retention. remoVal of bur from the autochuck 1. Grasp handpiece firmly so your thumb touches the end cap and push until a slight ‘click’ is noticed. 2. Pull bur straight out. 3. Release end cap. Manual Bur Changing System Maximum 24.0 mm OVERALL LENGTH Minimum 7.3 mm Shank Length Always insert the bur full length of the chuck. If you attempt to extend it from the chuck, the bur may dislodge during use and cause injury to you or your patient. Replace the turbine when the handpiece fails to achieve full speed and/or increases sharply in noise level. This is an indication of a failing turbine. A failing turbine will reduce the efficiency of the handpiece and may result in end cap heat-up. See "Turbine Replacement". turbine replacement note: Replace the turbine if the handpiece fails to achieve full speed and/or increases sharply in noise level. The replacement cartridge is available from your dealer and is easily replaced in the office. 1. Remove end cap and turbine assembly. 2. Inspect housing before cleaning. Remove any obvious debris to prevent damage and to ensure performance of turbine. 3. Connect handpiece and run air through turbine housing without turbine installed for 5 seconds. 4. Clean housing thoroughly with cotton swab and isopropyl alcohol. Dry with syringe air. 5. Place turbine assembly into housing and gently insert as shown. 6. Position and engage threads of end cap into the housing by hand until snug. 7. Tighten end cap with the combination end cap wrench employing the wrench opening marked AC as shown above. Position wrench with marked side facing end cap for best wrench control. Autochuck Turbine Housing Wrench Opening note: Always use ISO burs to prevent locking and slipping of burs in turbine chuck. If problems of locking and/or slipping continue, replace Turbine immediately. Replace Autochuck Turbine with StarDental Part #263739, Autochuck Turbine Replacement Kit. Replace Manual Chuck Turbine with starDental Part #258659, Manual Chuck Turbine Replacement Kit. If any problem persists, contact dealer for further assistance. note: Insert and remove burs without excessive force. cautIon Never rest the end cap on any part of the oral anatomy during handpiece operation.
