TOPSHOP I chose some of the garments

from the Topshop website that

I thought best suited my

theme. The colours and

shapes are very Egyptian.

I am going to base my col-

lection on these two gar-

ments from Topshop. I will

use my own designs and

drawings and incorporate

them into my collection.

I chose Kathryn Elsen

because she uses

digital media to ma-

nipulate her designs

and create bolder col-

ours and shapes. I

have used the com-

puter to create some

of my own drawings

For this task I was asked to show how digital media is used to create fashion illus-

trations. I chose Topshop as the store i wanted to produce illustrations for. Then I

chose two items of clothing that I could base my designs on. I scanned my own

hand drawn designs in and changed the saturation and brightness. I then used

Pixlr to change the colour of my designs and shape. I used Pixlr to create my own

flat drawings which I found very difficult and they did not turn out the way I wanted

them to. For my final designs that I based on the skirt from Topshop, I drew my

own female bodies using a sketching tool on Pixlr. Then I used the picture I had of

the skirt and changed it to fit the models and experimented with various colours. I

enjoyed drawing my own female models but found it more difficult to draw flat

drawings using these tools. Pixlr is a useful program for creating illustrations as

there are many formats you can choose from and you can use an image to begin

with as a template. I did this with my flat drawings but I couldn ’ t use it effectively.

The illustrator I chose was Kathryn Elsen as she had effectively used photoshop to

change her original designs and used different methods to create a more finished

look.
