Absences will be excused for severe sickness and school activities where a grade is at stake. Tardiness – You must be on time to every class. Extensive tardiness could result in removal from a performance or competition or may require private lessons at the discretion of the coach at your expense. Students may not be late for any performance/competition. Dress Code: Dancers must comply with the dress code for each class in order to participate. The first offense will result in an email home; second offense will be removal from class. Anything beyond this will result in a teacher/parent/student conference to discuss potential removal from competition teams. Ballet – Pink canvas ballet shoes, pink footed tights and a solid colored leotard of the dancer’s choice. Tights may not be holey or torn and must be worn under the leotard. Hair & Make-up: All members are required to do their hair and make-up as requested. Hair and make-up online tutorial will be sent in the fall to cover specific team hair styles and makeup applications. Make-up kits will be ordered at the beginning of the season. Costumes: Costumes need to be well maintained throughout the season. If a repair is needed, please bring it to the coach’s attention. Any damaged or lost costume will result in a new one being purchased or made at your cost including shipping, rush fees, alterations, etc. If a dancer forgets costume, accessories, shoes or tights for a performance/competition, it is the coach’s decision whether or not the dancer will be allowed to perform. Competitions/Conventions: Each team’s schedule will vary. Refer to your individual teams schedule for details. Please note that additional fees are added to competition/convention fees to cover studio costs. Travel expenses are not included in the competition/convention fees. Once we have registered and paid our fees, they are non-refundable. If your dancer, for any reason (illness, absent from class prior to the competition) is not able to participate in the competition, her fees are non-refundable. Missing an event could result in removal from all routines for the remainder of the season. Solo/Duo/Trios: Dancers may choose to participate in solo/duo/trios. Approval must be granted by all coaches to proceed. Please see the Solo/Duo/Trio contract for more information. This contract must be signed before you are allowed to learn you’re routine. Students who do not exhibit great sportsmanship will not be allowed to participate in a solo/duo/trio. Sportsmanship: Any dancer or parent who exhibits poor sportsmanship will not be allowed to compete in future competitions. This means respect for judges, competition staff, other dancers, teachers and parents. This is a zero tolerance policy. Parents are also required to be good ambassadors of Dance Unlimited. Any complaints, problems, or other issues should always be directed to the coaches. Additionally, we will be strictly enforcing a no-gossip policy. We work hard to provide a positive, thorough dance education and experience for each team dancer. Gossip thwarts our efforts. If you or your dancer has any concerns regarding other dancers or parents, coaches or teachers, please reach out to the directors immediately so that the problem can be solved as quickly and effectively as possible. Other Guidelines: Dance Unlimited competition team members may not teach or assist at another dance school. Members may not belong to another dance school’s competition or performance group. The directors/coaches reserve the right to make and enforce disciplinary decisions concerning any situation not covered in this contract. The directors/coaches reserve the right to interpret eligibility standing of every member of this group.
