Kancho Visits Original NDG Dojo - 40 Years Strong!Kancho Earl Robertson was invited to teach Yoshukan juniors, adults

and Black Belts at the original NDG Dojo situated in the

NDG YMCA. The club was founded in 1968 by

Sensei Mike Litwinczuk (Kancho Robertson’s

original instructor). Sensei Litwinczuk was a

member of the RCMP Security Service

(forerunner to CSIS) and student of Ottawa

legend Sensei André Langelier.

Sensei Robertson took over the dojo in 1974

and then turned it over to senior students Peter

Bakomihalis & Bobby Wilber in 1981. Successive

instructors were: Peter Berg; Jonathon Marsh;

Thierry DeBeur and then back to Sensei Robertson on his

return to Quebec in 1987. Shihan Louise Provencher took over

leadership of the NDG (and subsequent Quebec dojos) when Sensei

relocated to Mississauga in 1996.

Now with over 40 years in the community, NDG dojo is run by

Yoshukan Instructors: Malcolm Mazumdar; Peter

Bakimohalis; Rebecca Khoury; David Francis and Robert

Kalinowicz. This small, community dojo has produced

many, many sport champions and leaders in the martial arts

community over the past 4 decades. Kancho Robertson

credits Sensei Litwinczuk for lighting the flame and for his

innovative training drills and teaching philosophy that has

created the foundation for the YKA!

Kancho In Montreal, Quebec

Shihan Provncher promoted a visit with Kancho Robertson in March, 2009 at NDG Dojo.

YKA Quebec continues to develop with a core group of instructors/competitors dedicated to promoting Yoshukan Karate-do.
