COMPETENT OR INCOMPETENT?THE NLP FOR KIDS TECHNIQUES.

How Scholars can approach exams and tests

without the worry

NLP Techniques.School exams and tests

Everything must be made as simple as possible

but not one bit simpler -Albert Einstein

Page 3: COMPETENT OR INCOMPETENT

The NLP techniques that will assist greatly in the

preparation for exams and other tests, but remember that nothing can get one

through a school exam or a test if one haven’t done the

work in the first place.

Groundwork.

1. Get a copy of the examination syllabus before you begin to

study.   2. Check out the course

prospectus to make sure that the teaching covers the examination

syllabus. 3. Get alternative tuition.

NLP Techniques – Strategies.

Whenever you can, find out what those strategies are.

Would those strategies suit you?  Are they worth a try?

Could you adapt any of those strategies to suit your method of learning? Consider how you may

model them.

NLP Techniques – Modelling. What is it?

Definitely not a catwalk/Toy.

Modelling is the process of recreating excellence. We can model any human

behaviour by mastering the beliefs, the physiology and the specific thought

processes (that is the strategies) that underlie the skill or behaviour. It is about achieving an outcome by studying how

someone else goes about it.

Page 7: COMPETENT OR INCOMPETENT

NLP Techniques – Before modelling decide where you

want to go!!If you wish to become successful you need to start off by deciding what you want and where

you want to go. You wouldn’t dream of going to a travel agent

and just saying, “I’d like an airline ticket please.”

You can imagine the conversation. The desk clerk might say: “Where would you like to go?”

You need to be precice

Page 8: COMPETENT OR INCOMPETENT

NLP Techniques – When modelling do whatever it takes. The next thing is to do whatever it takes to

get where you want to be. Most people don’t get to where they want to be, firstly, because they don’t know where

they really want to go and, secondly, they are not prepared to put in the effort to get there

anyway. It is just so much easier to laze in front of the

television or play computer games and convince yourself that those who are

successful just have it easy.

NLP Techniques – Modelling and Practising.

If you play sport even at a local level, you know that in order to get on the team you

have had to train and practice and by training and practising you gradually got better and

better at what you did. If you were on the team your classmates

looked up to you. So I, and thousands like me, practised our sports until we got to the

required level and got on the team. Those people who become professionals,

those who get to the top of their game, so to speak, are truly dedicated.

Page 10: COMPETENT OR INCOMPETENT

NLP Techniques and Modelling – Never give up.

The next thing to recognise is that if they have a bad day or even a bad spell, those

who turn out to be really successful at what they do, don’t just give up. They keep at it.

Page 11: COMPETENT OR INCOMPETENT

NLP Techniques and Modelling – Getting a good

outcome. Think what you want to do, create a

good feeling Make a picture in your mind. Fill it with

colour. Hear it-feel it Now double the size of the picture and double it again. Keep doing that until it

fills your whole vision. Now you are in that frame of mind, think about what you would really like to do and

start planning how you will do it.

NLP techniques – Tutorial work.

Some subjects range over such a wide area that it is really not possible to learn it all in detail, but if you attend the tutorials and

carry out all the set work you will find you have covered enough to get you through the

exam. You will, however, need to make sure you carry out all the set reading and exercises.

You will become familiar with providing reasoned, written answers and the thought of doings so during the actual examination

will not be so daunting.

Page 13: COMPETENT OR INCOMPETENT

It is also quite interesting to note the number of times an examination question is set which is almost exactly similar to an essay question you answered earlier in the academic year.

If you did that at the time, you have had the advantage not only of writing a reasoned

academic answer, but you have had it marked by your tutor and have probably discussed the

problem during a tutorial, so you are really being gifted the marks in the exam.

Those who didn’t do the work at the time lose out on both counts.

Page 14: COMPETENT OR INCOMPETENT

There is no doubt that those who regard themselves as the brilliant students will cope

beautifully without the assistance of this presentation, but if you think of yourself as a middle-of-the-road or less able student, you can surprise yourself.  It won’t happen all by

itself.

You may need to put in some extra hours but you can excel if you really want to.

Page 15: COMPETENT OR INCOMPETENT

NLP techniques – Planning. From observations far too many gifted

students perform poorly at school because they were playing rugby or

soccer and rather neglect school work than sports training.

On the other hand, students with apparently less ability, surpass their

wildest dreams in their finals because they kept their noses to the grindstone

throughout the course.

Create a timetable. Note when work has to be in.

Plan study time. Allow ample time for relaxation, sporting

activities. It is important that you lead a rounded life at the same time as studying, and it is not necessary to give up any of your normal

activities. Plan your study time,

It is not necessary to burn the midnight oil.  The only people who do that are the ones who do not do the work during the day!

Remember also that last minute cramming rarely pays off.
