We, professional planners, who are members of the American Instituteof Certified Planners, subscribe to our Institute's Code of Ethics andProfessional Conduct. Our Code is divided into three sections. Sectiona, B and C.

The principles to which we subscribe in Sections A and B of the Codederive from the special responsibility of our profession to serve thepublic interest with compassion for the welfare of all

people and, as professionals, to our obligation to act with highintegrity.

As the basic values of society can come into competition with eachother, so can the aspirational principles we espouse under this Code.An ethical judgment often requires a conscientious balancing, basedon the facts and context of a particular situation and on the precepts ofthe entire Code.

As Certified Planners, all of us are also members of the AmericanPlanning Association and share in the goal of building better, moreinclusive communities. We want the public to be aware of the

principles by which we practice our profession in the quest of that goal.We sincerely hope that the public will respect the commitments wemake to our employers and clients, our fellowprofessionals, and all other persons whose interests we affect.

only four values are same in boththe codes.

The level of detail is evident even from theName of the Two Code, 'ITPI Code of Conduct"and "AICP Code of Ethics and ProfessionalConduct", there is a more concern and aneffort for ethical planning in AICP code thanthe ITPI code. The clarity is evident in theAICP Code of Conduct.

    1. the principle values of itpi codeis differenct from aicp code.

    2. both the codes have differentvalues for planning professionthe desired aspects

    Recommendations

In order to strengthen theProfession, it is necessary to

have a detailed andelloborate code of condut.

the code should specificallymentaion the ethical aspect. For e.g what does it mean tobe ethical and what are thecomponents of ethicalplanning

    considerate part of the code.
