February is all about Kindness: God was kind to us even when we didn’t deserve it. Even when we were still sinners, Jesus died for us. Because of God’s great love for us, we can be kind to everyone. Jesus personified kindness in the way He lived and interacted with the people He met. But, as we read the Gospels, we find that Jesus didn’t just model kindness. He commanded it. By treating others the way we want to be treated, we live out the way Jesus taught us to live. WEEK 1 Key Question: What does kindness look like? While this may seem like a simple question, preteens need to start from a concrete idea before connecting that idea to their own life. When kids can identify the kindness of others, they have a better chance of replicating that in their own life. We want kids to figure out how they can show kindness to others based on the ways people have been kind to them. We start the month talking about the foundation for our kindness. In Titus 3:4-7, Paul talked about God’s amazing kindness towards us. God poured out His kindness when He sent Jesus to rescue us from the consequences of our sin. We can have life forever because of God’s kindness and love. Bottom Line: Be kind to others because God is kind to you. We pray that as kids learn about God’s kindness through Jesus, they will see how they can reflect God’s kindness to the people in their life.

Serving Him together,

Ms. Shannon Bentley

KidsTime Paint Party

Wow! How have we already come to the end of January? This time has truly passed by so quickly. Between lock-ins, trips, and getting back into the swing here at the church, this month has flown by! This past Sunday, we continued our "Talk the Talk" series with an examination of the phrases we use to talk about the Bible and whether we are actually quoting scripture. What a challenge for us all! Next week, we will have a Super Bowl Party (wooohooo!!!) courtesy of Local Yolkal in place of our regular Harbor Youth Sunday Night activities. The time has been adjusted (6-8 PM- or until halftime starts) so the students can watch the first half of the game together and then make it home before the second half begins. The Charnes have graciously offered to host us, and we are excited to celebrate such a fun event in a special way! We are partnering with the UMW to kick off their Food Drive by asking each student to bring two canned goods to gain entry to the "Souper Bowl" Party. A great way for all students to engage in missions, I would love for the Youth to be a significant source of donation to start their campaign. Also upcoming is a special fundraiser for the 30 Hour Famine (Feb. 23-24). Be on the lookout for more exciting details! In peace, Audrey Crocker FUMC Youth Director
