Bones for Life is a natural, movement-based exercise program created by Senior Feldenkrais Method Trainer Ruthy Alon, as a way to improve bone health. This 7-week course lays the groundwork for all of Dr. Alon’s Movement Intelligence programs. It is valuable if you’d like to improve your own skeletal integrity, and essential if you’d like to become certified to teach this material to others.
There was lots of excitement when Ruthy Alon came to visit and teach last year. So we were delighted when Anastasi Siotas, one of Ruthy’s Senior Trainers, offered to teach a “foundational” Bones for Life course for us. Please join us to explore gentle, active weight-bearing activities designed to improve the way you sit, stand, walk, run, and jump.

The Feldenkrais Method is gaining recognition these days as a sophisticated yet accessible resource that can help the body in many ways. Increasing numbers of people — from all walks of life — are discovering the Feldenkrais Method and using it to enhance physical skills and performance, reduce pain, promote recovery after injury, increase flexibility, and reduce stress.
Feldenkrais engages our brain’s neuroplasticity (it’s innate ability to learn, adapt and change) in order to improve the way we are organized, both neurologically and musculoskeletally. Because one must experience the Feldenkrais Method to understand it’s special qualities, we offer frequent introductory workshops. To make this one even more enjoyable, consider bringing a friend with you at no additional cost. NOTE: Please call to let us know if you plan to bring a guest.
Marek Wyszynski, Co-Founder of the Feldenkrais Institute, is a generous teacher with a wealth of experience as a Physical Therapist and a Feldenkrais Practitioner. Stop by to learn, experience, and enjoy!

Our environment is constantly changing, and some changes challenge our personal space. In this workshop with visiting guest teacher, Moti Nativ, we will use Awareness Through Movement® to improve the way we navigate within a changing environment, mentally and physically. We will clarify our personal space, and learn how to protect it with confident action using movement and perceptual parameters such as orientation, space, direction, distance, speed, and timing. We will bring these theoretical concepts into practice and see how — when they are joined harmoniously — the quality of all our actions is able to improve.
with Moti Nativ
Moti Nativ is an Israeli Feldenkrais Practitioner and a retired Colonel in the Israeli Defense Force. Moti is also a master teacher of Budo Taijutsu (a Japanese martial art), has a black belt in Judo, is a certified Krav Maga instructor, and founder of the Bujinkan Dojo of Awareness in Israel. Recently, Moti wrote the forewords to the new editions of three early books by Dr. Feldenkrais: Practical Unarmed Combat, Higher Judo, and Autosuggestion.

Pain-Free & Healthy Shoulders For relaxation and health with Nancy Judson
Member Tuition: $30 • Pre-Registration: $55 • Day of Event: $65
A workshop to improve the health and flexibility of your shoulders
Do you ever notice that one or both of your shoulders is weak while doing certain activities? Or, that your shoulders are often hunched or tight? Habits of chronic shoulder tension are very common and may contribute to head, neck, and arm pain, restricted breathing, reduced motion, and poor posture. Feldenkrais exercises are a great tool for improving the health and comfort of your shoulders. They can improve the way your body is organized, help to change old patterns, and give you practical tools to use any time you notice that your shoulders are becoming tense.
Join Nancy Judson, a compassionate and dedicated Feldenkrais Teacher, for a three-hour workshop designed to help you develop better shoulder health. Learn new and novel ways to improve the flexibility and organization of your shoulders so that you can use your arms in the ways you’d like, and be less vulnerable to injury.
Wednesday, February 18 • 6:30-9:30 pm
Many people experience pain in the area of their mouth, face and jaw commonly referred to as “TMJ Syndrome”. This diagnosis includes a range of difficulties involving the temporomandibular joint. In many cases, the Feldenkrais Method can be extremely helpful. If you suffer from pain in your face, mouth or jaw, unconsciously clench or grind your teeth, or have headaches related to jaw tension, this workshop is for you.
Join Mark Hirschfield to explore an exquisite selection of Awareness Through Movement lessons. A relaxed, healthy jaw may also help to bring about improvements in your breathing, digestion and appearance, and the comfort of your neck, chest, back and shoulders. It can also improve your sleep, and reduce stress and anxiety.
Mark Hirschfield is a full-time Practitioner at the Feldenkrais Institute of New York. He has a wealth of experience in the theatre arts, and enjoys helping people to discover new paths of self-improvement, awareness, and wellbeing.

You may attend this workshop on it’s own, OR as part of the TMJ Health Program. The full program includes 6 personalized sessions and a CD set for home-use.
The Feldenkrais Institute’s TMJ Health ProgramAfter leading a workshop, our teachers often wish that they could continue to work with participants individually to support them in their improvement. The Feldenkrais Institute’s new TMJ Health Program provides an opportunity for precisely this; a period of sustained, gradual, and cumulative care.
TMJ problems can be very challenging. Therefore, we are delighted to present a personalized program to help you improve your TMJ health and comfort. We will offer it twice in 2015. The first session begins on February 24, and the second session will take place in the Fall.
The TMJ Health Program includes: • Participation in a TMJ Health workshop
• A consultation and 6 individualized sessions
• A CD home-care program and support to help you sustain and optimize your improvement
