INTRODUCTIONThe Case IH Axial-Flow combine continues to set the standards for productivity, performance and technical advancement. Customers appreciate the performance and superior design of the Axial-Flow combine but as with everything else in life they demand even more from the next model. What was exceptional performance in 2007 is only typical performance in 2008.

Therefore in 2009 as in every year since its introduction in 1977, the Axial-Flow combine has been reassessed and product improvements have been made to make a great combine even better.

Case IH is proud to introduce the Axial-Flow 7120 Class VII combine, Axial-Flow 8120 Class VIII combine and new Class IX Axial-Flow 9120 combine to complement the rest of the Axial-Flow combine line. This introduction completes the Case IH Axial-Flow combine line-up from the Class V Axial-Flow 5088 up to the Class IX Axial-Flow 9120 combine.

GENERAL

The 2009 Axial-Flow 7120, Axial-Flow 8120 and Axial-Flow 9120 model year production will start with PIN Y8G205001.

Feeder

The rear feeder floor in front of the rock trap sump has been lowered to increase the chain-to-floor clearance from 49mm to 80mm under the top shaft.

The feeder conveyor chain wear strips have been moved downward to reduce the pressure applied to the strips, resulting in less wear.

The rock trap beater speed has been increased from 710 rpm to 1000 rpm to increase capacity and improve stone catching. This change results from a gearing change inside the feeder/rock trap gear case.

The feeder chain has been changed from a 4-strand, 2-slat conveyor to a 4-strand, 3-slat conveyor to reduce chain stretch and chain jumping.

The feeder top shaft sprockets have been changed from an 11-tooth to a 15-tooth sprocket to reduce material return back down the feeder, increase sprocket life and increase conveyor chain life. This change also requires a change to the conveyor drive gear case to maintain the 550 ft/min conveyor speed.

Feeder Top Shaft 15-tooth Sprockets

An optional heavy lift package for 8120 and 9120 combines includes two 90mm lift cylinders, a higher capacity tilt cylinder and additional feeder reinforcements for use with larger and heavier headers.

7

The bearing support plate on the middle impeller of the tailings processor has been made into two pieces. The middle impeller assembly does not need to be removed for access. The top section is removable for easier cleaning and inspection of the top and middle impeller areas.

Residue Management Systems

The following changes have been made to the residue management systems.

• Combines equipped with a discharge beater or standard cut straw chopper now have a fixed rear discharge door and a metal shield over the hydraulic spreader motors. This modification eliminates possible residue leak points and keeps the rear of the machine cleaner.

8

• A new DIA Kit, Number 87493756, provides linkage, a handle, etc. that converts the fixed door to one that can be opened for windrowing over the top of the spreaders for those customers who windrow with either the discharge beater or standard cut chopper.

DIA Kit 87493756

Kit 87724575 is needed if a standard cut chopper or beater is ordered and the customer wants to windrow.

• The standard cut chopper is optional and consists of a two row Helix design with 28 rotating knives and 21 stationary counter knives. The standard cut chopper can be converted to a MY'08 type fine cut by ordering kits 87297877 and 87297767 and having the dealer install the knives.

Standard Cut Chopper Option

Fine Cut (MagnaCut) Chopper

• A fine cut (MagnaCut) chopper is available as an option. It consists of a 3-row Helix design with 63 rotating knives and 20 stationary counter knives on the 7120 and 126 rotating knives and 41 stationary counter knives on the 8120 and 9120. This chopper provides unparalleled chopping performance in even the heaviest of crops.

10

• Newly designed, individually mounted counter knives are now used with the fine cut (MagnaCut) chopper. The new stationary counter knifes employ a unique retaining system on each individual knife, called a slip joint. This slip joint is used so that, in the event that the knife encounters an obstruction going through the chopper, each knife can independently move out of the way. The key benefit to this design is that the knife is retained and not released out the back of the combine and into the field.

Newly Designed, Individually Mounted Counter Knives

• A rotor discharge deflector is now included with the fine cut (MagnaCut) chopper option. This consists of an external rod and locking pin that moves the rotor discharge deflector, changing the rotor discharge trajectory, providing even spread distribution to the ground.

Multi-position Windrow Chute

Page 11: Combine Model Year 2009 Product Enhancements PRODUCT

11

• The fine cut (MagnaCut) chopper includes a new, multi-position windrow chute which provides better windrow formation. The adjustable height positions ensure straw contacts the chute, slowing the straw, to prevent the straw from penetrating the stubble. This chute replaces the plastic cover on 2008 model year and older 7010 and 8010 combines. This discharge chute can also be purchased as a DIA Kit Number 87724575 for all 10 and 20 Series combines.

• An in-cab hydraulic straw spreader control allows the operator to adjust straw spreader speed from the right-hand console in the cab. Spreader speed will be displayed on the AFS Pro 600 monitor.

AFS AccuGuide™ Autoguidance Improvements

• Angled perspective views have been added to the swath maps, in addition to the current top-down view of the maps, providing the operator with another way to view the maps.

• An auto row calculation for skipping swaths feature allows the operator to get visual indication on map if he chooses to skip swaths.

• A constellation map for GPS satellites gives visual and numerical representation of the satellites being received by the GPS antenna. The map provides a visual aid as to where the satellites are located in relation to the machine.

Constellation Map

A Generate Spiral Swath from Boundaries feature allows the operator to generate headlands from the boundary without driving the swath.

90-Degree View 45-Degree View

19

Two additional methods to record a circle have been added to AccuGuide Autoguidance. A "Continuous Driving" method and "Set Center And Radius" method have been added in addition to the current "Record 3 Points" method.

“Set to Current” feature for nudge is the same as “set to current” on the remark except it's a nudge value. This will automatically set the nudge value to where the combine is currently located versus the swath on the display.

Field Swath is a new swath type that allows the user to record headland and interior swaths simultaneously with a simple interface. It creates a single recording condition for headlands and interior swaths (A to B points) for the field all at once to save time in autoguidance set-up. It also provides better predictability for "end of row" alarms.

Field Swath

GPS Row Guidance for corn heads is available as a limited release. Manual row guidance sensors on the corn head work in conjunction with GPS for very accurate autoguidance in corn. GPS Row Guidance will 1) automatically line up the machine to the rows in the next pass, 2) anticipate curves in the swath for better accuracy, and 3) provide roll compensation in hills for better on-row guidance.

AFS Yield and Moisture

A new calibration wizard for calibrating moisture and yield sensors is available. The calibration wizard walks the user through the steps necessary to do a grain calibration without the need to read the manual. It will also provide feedback indicating whether or not at least one normal flow, high flow, and low flow task has been done. An advanced operator can still use the previous (quicker) method of calibrating. An auto cut width adjustment when using GPS automatically adjusts to crop when the header overlaps crop that has already been harvested (based on recorded GPS data). This improves accuracy when calculating harvested area.
