PRESS RELEASE Colin Levy (a.k.a. Chardavid, Iley Dread) Performance at Jambana 2015, Markham Ontario, August 3, 2015
Toronto, August 4, 2015: Colin Levy (Iley), performed his show (see photo) spite the technical
challenges that lead the performer disappointed in his performance.
Iley stated Saturday night Aug 3, 2015 after his performance that he felt he let the audience down due to
challenges unforeseen leading to his performance. Iley
performed with legendary band Fab 5 as an interim set during Fab
5 performances. Iley stated, “due to some logistics issues, we
never had the chance to rehearse with Fab 5 prior to the
performance”. Despite not having the opportunity to rehearse Iley
was also challenged with technical issues when he was called to
the stage to perform. Iley along with his 3 backup singers were
unable to hear their vocals as they sang due to an engineering
issue with the stage monitors, Iley explained. “My backup singers
and I could not hear ourselves on the stage monitors”, said Iley.
"I feel I have let my fans down as I was not able to perform taking
charge of the stage and delighting my fans as I normally due”
stated Iley. Iley went on to explain even though the crowd was
not excited as they normally are, the audience cheered and
applauded Iley all along the performance. “I left the stage proud
of my fans, the Fab 5 band and my backup singers giving it the
best they could given the circumstances. The audience showed
their respect which I feel really touched my heart”, stated Iley.

Iley said there was a “lesson to be
learned here” and wants to share
with other Reggae performers. “It is
very important not only to rehearse
your show but also have your own
sound engineer on your team that
does a proper sound check and
knows Reggae music performed on
a live stage very well. “Aside from
not rehearsing which is essential to
all live performances, a proper
sound would have allowed a much
better performance than what
happened Monday night”, Iley
added.
Iley recognized the many challenges faced over the Jambana holiday weekend in Canada. Sunday saw
a powerful thunderstorm race through the Markham Fair grounds during the highlight of the Sunday show.
Many visitors left the field and took cover or went home. After a brief period of high winds and torrential
rain down pours Iley stated, “I was glad no one got hurt”. Many Tents were blown down and need to be
replaced but the show continued once the weather improved.
Iley closed his statement by saying he really was thankful for the
great job Fab 5 did given the circumstances and applauds Fab
5 as a “Legendary Band, and a privilege to have performed with
them”. Iley also comment on the many great acts that
performed and specially noted on the exciting performance of
Gully Bop. (see photo). Iley passed along great thanks to Jones
& Jones for keeping the “fire” going and was particularly grateful
to VP Records for their contribution in his musical career. Iley
concluded, “the weekend was full of good music, good people
and good food”. – BM
