General Motors DTC Reader InstructionsDo not leave the MAX MicroTuner connected and unattended for any length of time to prevent unnecessary battery drain.

3. Reading the DTCsThe MAX MicroTuner will beep and read the vehicle stored DTCs. If the vehicle has logged no DTCs, the MAX MicroTuner will display the following message:

PLEASE READ THIS ENTIRE INSTRUCTION SHEET BEFORE YOU PROCEED

No DTCs Exist Press >...Press the > key on the keypad to continue. The MAX MicroTuner will go back to Selecting Tune Vehicle / Diagnostics at Step 2. If DTCs have been logged from the vehicle, the MAX MicroTuner will display the following message:

DTC CODE READER OPERATIONThe Superchips MAX MicroTuner is equipped to function as a Diagnostic Trouble Code Reader for GM OBDII equipped vehicles. Using the keypad on the MAX MicroTuner, you can read and reset logged DTCs. Using the chart of DTCs that follows, you can interpret each of the DTCs. IMPORTANT NOTE This Superchips MAX MicroTuner & DTC Reader is intended for use on GM vehicles only. Do NOT attempt to use the DTC reader on other than a GM vehicle as damage to the vehicle PCM or the MAX MicroTuner may occur that is not covered by the Superchips Inc. warranty. Not all codes apply to every vehicle model. Because of differences in vehicle computer types, your MAX MicroTuner may not function properly on all GM vehicles.

DTC # nn Pxxxx >= Next B= Done

nn is the DTC sequence. Pxxxx is the DTC number. Use the following DTC chart to find the DTC interpretation. Press the > key on the keypad to cycle through the DTCs logged by the vehicle. Press the B key on the keypad when you are finished viewing the logged DTCs. The MAX MicroTuner continues to Step 4 below.

1. Connecting the Superchips MAX MicroTuner to Your Vehiclewith the Ignition Switch in the OFF Pos, locate the diagnostic connector under the dash near the steering wheel and connect the MAX MicroTuner cable to the diagnostic connector. (See Figure 1) When connected, the MAX MicroTuner will run a selftest. When the self-test is finished the MAX MicroTuner will display the message:Figure 1

4. Clearing the DTCsThe MAX MicroTuner will beep and display the message:

Clear the DTCs? YES or NOPress NO to go to Selecting Tune Vehicle / Diagnostics at Step 2. Press the YES key on the keypad to clear ALL logged DTCs. The MAX MicroTuner will beep and display the message:

Begin with Ignition OFF Press >Insure the Ignition Switch is OFF, then press the > key on the keypad. The MAX MicroTuner alternately displays the following messages:

Clearing DTCs Please Wait...After clearing all the DTCs, the MAX MicroTuner will go back to Selecting Tune Vehicle / Diagnostics at Step 2.

Turn Ignition ON Do NOT START Eng Press > to ContinueTurn the Ignition Switch to the ON Pos. Press > on the keypad. The MAX MicroTuner will beep and display the message:

Read the DTCs? YES or NO

Press NO to go to Selecting Tune Vehicle / Diagnostics at Step 2 in the MAX MicroTuner manual. Press YES to first read currently stored DTCs.
