DanfossSemcoCO2systemsmeetanumberofinternationalclassrequirements,includingLRS,DNV,BV,PRS,CCS,ABS,GL,RMRSandNK,aswellasnationalauthorities.
COnStruCtiOn.TheDanfossSemcoCO2systemconsistsofoneormorepressurecylinderscontainingtheextinguishingagentCO2.Thecylindersareconnectedviaacommonmanifold.
Fromthemainmanifold,theextinguishingagentisledthroughdistributionvalvestotheprotectedspaces.
Thevalveconstruction,cylindersize,andcylinderpressure,combinedwiththecomputercalculatedpipeandnozzledimensioning,ensuresthattheextinguishingagentisdistributedincorrectquantitiesandwithinthepre-scribedtime.Thereleaseisactivatedpneumatically,electricallyand/ormechanically.
DanfossSemcopressure-operatedcylindervalvesofferthepossibilityofconnectingCO2cylindersingroupsoperatedpneumaticallyfromoneormorereleasecabinetsequippedwithCO2gascylinders.Thereleasecabi-netsareequippedwithpilotvalvesforuseinopeningcylindersanddistributionvalvesbypipeconnections.Forpneumaticoperation,thebuilt-inactuatorisusedforeachcylindervalve.Theseareconnectedtotheothercylindervalvesinthegroupviaseries-connected,flexiblehigh-pressurehoses.

CO2 CylindErS.Thecylindersaredeliveredas67.5-litresteelcylindersfilledwith45kgofCO2,oralter-nativelyas80-litresteelcylindersfilledwith53.6kgofCO2.Toenableremotecontrolandquickrelease,thecylindersaresuppliedwithDanfossSemcopressureoperatedquickopeningvalves,whichalsoofferthepossibil-ityofmanualoperation.
Thevalveconstructionsecuresagainstdamagingoverpressureinthecylinder,asthevalvehasabuilt-inburstingdisc,activatedatanominalpressureof190bar.
CO2 rOOm.Thecylindersarenormallystoredinaseparate,well-ventilatedandinsulatedroom,wherethetemperatureiskeptbetween0°and40°C.Theroommusthavefreeaccesstoopenair.Theroomshouldhaveaminimumclearheightof2.4mtoprovideadequatespaceforthemountingofmanifoldsandweighingbeamsforcheckweighingofthecylinders.
CHECking EquiPmEnt.Thecylinderscanbecheckedbyaweighingdeviceorliquidlevelmeasurement.
SPECial EquiPmEnt. Toreducethe installationtimeinCO2roomsonboardships,cylinderarrange-mentsmountedinracksconsistingofupto100piecesof45/53.6kgcylinders,completewithmanifoldandfixingequipment,canbesupplied.

tHE PrESSurE COntrOllEd CylindEr ValVE. AllDanfossSemco’sreleasesystemsarebasedontheuniquepressureoperatedcylindervalve.Thisvalveisusedinallsystemsinwhichpressurecylinders(CO2andN2)formapart.CO2cylinders,withcontentsofupto60kgdischarge,canbereleasedwithinoneminute.Valvehousingsandinternalpartsaremadeofbrassorstainlesssteel,withtighteningmaterialsofneopreneorcopper.
Thevalveisconstructedasacombinedpressureoperatedquickopeningvalvewithhandwheelformanualopening.
TheDanfossSemcovalveisdesignedwithauniquefunctionthatenablestheusertoperformarealcheckofthevalvefunction.Byopeningthecontrolvalveforreleasingthecylinderswhileleavingthedistributionvalveclosed,themanifoldwillbepressurised.Itcanthenbeprovedthateachvalveisopened.Byclosingthecontrolvalve,thereleasepipingsystemwillberelievedandthecylindervalveswillclose.Thisfunctionisrequiredbysomeclassesandauthorities.
PnEumatiC rElEaSE SyStEm.Total flooding systems require groups of cylinders to be releasedsimultaneously.Forthispurpose,pneumaticallyoperatedcylindervalvesareusedinconjunctionwiththepilotpressurefromthemasterreleaseboxcontainingcontrolcylinder(s)(CO2orN2),twocontrolvalves,apressuregauge,andoneortwodoorswitches.
Asanoption,thesystemcanbesuppliedwithapneumatictimedelaydevicetodelaytheopeningofthemainvalve.EmergencyreleasefromtheCO2roomcanbemadebymanuallyopeningthecylindervalveandthenoperatingthetwolocalcontrolvalves.
